Subbed because watching slightly older guys teach sports fitness is much more valid than watching very young guys do it. Incredibly young muscular guys wouldnt even notice if they were doing things wrong because their strength, vitality and bodily repair mechanisms will mask their mistakes until they are older and their bodies slow down. Great stuff. Watched two videos tonight and both were totally on point
Having been an athlete most of my life, it has been difficult adapting to the fact I am now 76 NOT 26. Your videos have been wonderful showing me alternatives for things that have become painful or difficult. Please keep it up!
At least your not one of those weirdos that claims to be in the best shape of your life at age 76 because when people do that it makes me wonder what they were doing in their 20s.
I started out two weeks ago barely able to do 10 push-ups. As of yesterday, I’ve been doing sets of 25-30 up to 100+ throughout the day (at age 65+). *BUT* after watching the PROPER way, I’ve been doing them exactly WRONG! I tried the proper way and could only do a few! I’ll have to start all over again. Thanks for the instruction!
These guys at their age and in the shape that they're in are great examples of people that take physical therapy seriously. They don't just talk about it; they embody it.
I've always done modified push ups on bed, walls, chairs or counter tops the exact same way I've done modified planks too. I never do any of these on the floor because of my wrists, shoulders and currently a bad knee. Thanks for sharing 👍
I'm 25 and I injured my wrist in an accident, always had troubles with pushups because of my wrist. Thanks for the informational video! Bob & Brad. Always learning~!

I don’t think you are lowly at all. Because of good massage therapists, I’ve found that I can relax my muscles better before I see my physical therapist.
You guys are awesome. Very informative with a great deal of humor. Thank you for what you're doing. It's making a difference in countless lives. Please keep the faith and keep up the great work.
I have to agree with Bob that the exercise at 9:40 is working serratus anterior. I can't find any source indicating subscapularis is involved with protraction of the scapula. Brad even mentions it keeping the scapula firmly against the rib cage, which is clearly the role of serratus anterior, not subscapularis.
i'm HAVING A SHOULDER ISSUE AND IN TRYING TO AVOID SURGERY I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO FIND YOU GUYS. Thank you, God bless and Happy New Year. If i'm able to recover without surgery I will let you know. Thanks again for some great very informative videos.
Good one... pushups are SOOOO important... I started on knees, 10/day... now doing 4 sets of 25 per day, full pushups. One tip: Don't drop the head during pushups... keep head up, look ahead... big difference.
I would have thought the opposite, and that you do want to be looking at the ground because it would be keeping you essentially in the same body position as when you are doing bench press. Plus it looks like the spine would be more lined up that way. I would be going from looking forward to looking down at the ground all in the same set, so definitely improperly right? Going to try looking up. Thank you for the "HEADS UP"!!
Thanks guys. Last year, I was doing a push up routine and hurt my left shoulder doing them with my elbows out. I'm still recovering from that. You guys rock.
I'm 67, almost 68 and I started push-ups about 2 months ago, I do them on a cedar chest as the counter is too high and the floor too low. On a good day I can do 10 but if some part of my body feels cranky I will do just 5-7. So far it's going well and by that I mean no injuries and getting stronger.
Thanks! I feel like my wrists always are the problem to doing more pushups, and I thought it was just me. I took karate as a kid and remember doing the fist pushups, but nobody else does that so I felt like out of place doing those in public. Will try those again and get over it!
a year ago I watched your sciatica videos 6 times a day, working on and visualizing a return to normal health. thank you. I could never have attempted this push up a year ago, and you advised against these for my situation! thank you for the time and effort for putting together this stream of educational / therapy / training sessions!!!

Its amazing, as we get older there are videos for improving every minuet of our lives. I'll be doing these and the wife will be doing their stroke balance recovery exercises, whether she wants to our not. You can only pick someone off the floor so many times before you enforce your own balance recovery program.
When I do push-ups I like to spread my fingers out more and grip the floor. It seems to give me a little more power and stability, and perhaps and forearms strengthening. I have a set of those perfect push-up handles I bought several years ago and I really like those too.

I'm in my mid 40s and had recently started to have shoulder pain every time I tried to do pushups. It was sort of depressing since not so long ago I could do twenty five at a time no problem. I still tried to do some with stretches to try to work through the pain and just get past it but every time it would still be there and only allow me to get through about fifteen pushups. At 65 and arthritis everywhere, I do mine on the edge of my kitchen table. So easy but really works.
