Maybe over time I may add the next best one for kicks when I feel like adding something new without going too expensive, then another later when it seems right, etc... But, getting all 11? Idk? I think spending probably over $3k in the end after taxes and maybe shipping costs seems a bit excessive for 11 of essentially the same watch, just cosmetically different.
All the agonizing about whether this is an Omega. It’s always been a Swatch Watch! Swatch owns Omega. I have my Speedy professional and one day I’ll have my MoonSwatch.
Great review, thanks. I look forward to buying it, once they've been out for a while. This is just what the watch industry needs, a little fun and frivolity for a change. Maybe it will get some more young folks to start wearing watches and possibly pull their faces away from their phones! Who cares about whether it "devalues" other models. As it's often said, 99% of the public has no clue nor interest in what you are wearing on your wrist. Buy a watch because YOU like it and pay what a watch is worth, not some inflated price based on availability or collectability. (unless you're in that business, of course 😉)
Just got mine as a buddy for my 3861 Speedy Pro. Got the Earth version and it’s a fun summer version 👏🏼 Hate the strap though so will take a look at alternatives
Best take on the Moonswatch. You don’t buy this watch for the specs, you buy it for the feeling you have with it on. I wear my explorer 95% of the time but it’s great to have a fun grab and go quartz piece that gives me the same feeling as my old 3861 for a fraction of the price. I also really like the strap (swap the positions so the omega logo is at 12 and it’s far more comfortable and looks better).
Thanks Bruce. I think Omega is testing the market with this release to find out if there is any interest in the watch community for more vatients of the real moon watch! Will have to wait and see.
I'mma buy one too! What I do is that I find a watch I think is really cool and daily it everywhere and when it's worn out after a few years I retire it in my watch display 😊 Love watches but gotta be reasonable fun though
Great review Bruce! I think it's possible to calibrate the chronograph second hand by pulling out the crown and pressing the pushers. Thanks for the upload :)
We expect the snobs to get all salty about the bioceramic Speedy but that's okay. We plebs will gladly wear this. Also, can you imagine those uptight Rolex people doing something like this? Of course not. They are trying to snatch as many bills out of their customer's wallets as they can.
It’s a fun watch, I got the Mars version. I haven’t bought a watch in years and the Swatch Omega made want to check it out. The watch snobs have to stop being negative because it’s not a Omega or a Swiss automatic watch movement. It’s a swatch quartz. It not a Swiss watch that costs thousands. I hate the cost pumping on eBay and how Swatch isn’t releasing more in some stores. If you want to buy one at a Swatch store for 360.00 Canadian dollars or less in American go buy one and don’t let the watch snobs on You Tube deter you.
The Sistem51 is cheaper and has a mechanical movement, I wish that at the minimum they took the movement from that and put it in here. It may sport some Omega branding, but it is in the end a plasticky quartz watch for 360CAD, the co-branding doesn't make it a deal.
Leaving the quite spicy branding topic aside - how do you feel about it relative to affordable quartz favorites? I feel like this is the third watch in a colorful "why so serious" trio with a Timex Q and a resin CasiOak.
I think it’s great, I know many don’t want to believe it but it’s an omega speedmaster. Not the same as the models we already have of course and a collaboration but no matter which way you twist it, it’s a speedy. Just a much cheaper one. And for the price it’s a no brainer. Had it been a homage from alibaba that would be a different story but this is omega x swatch and that adds lots of weight.
"but it’s an omega speedmaster" NO, it is not. An SpeedMaster is not only about the dial, it is also about the materials and the movement inside. This is a plastic quartz Swatch and not available at Omega dealers.
Is a Squier Stratocaster a real Stratocaster ? I don’t think so, it’s just an official homage for beginners which makes the real deal even more desirable.
For the price it is definitely NOT appropriate that the chronograph hand does not align…. Its a cool little watch but for something that Omega is stamping their name on, id expect it to at least have good quality control.
Great comments Bruce . Totally agree , this watch is all about fun and nothing more. I'm sure they would look even better on some NATO straps. I'd use one when tinkering around with my classic car and not worry about scratches and scrapes.
"...NO plans for an online release." - Swatch, April 4, 2022 The following is a direct cut & paste of an e-mail response I received, from Swatch, on April 4th: "Thank you for your interest in the Bioceramic Moonswatch Collection. We are currently out of stock in all participating locations worldwide. There is currently no timeline on a re-stock the collection at the Swatch North Park location. When available the collection will be sold on a first come, first served basis in store only. At this time there are no plans for an online release. Feel free to contact us as often as you would like for updated information." So, basically: 1.) Make public announcement of a collaboration with Omega. 2.) Only make a few hundred watches. 3.) Only send them to a handful of brick & mortar stores. 4.) Do nothing to manage/organize release day. 5.) Continue posting MoonSwatch and OmegaXSwatch marketing across social media platforms. 6.) Tell everyone that more watches are being stocked in stores and online availability is on the way. 7.) Don't fulfill #6. Swatch's seven-step plan to, troll the world.
If it is an ETA G10 212 it is most likely a Precidrive movement which meet HAQ standards with a deviation on around 10 seconds a year. It is a cheap movement, yes, but very accurate.
Mercedes went down market chasing volume and devalued the brand. Omega is following the trend and will suffer the same fate. Why do people applaud yet another throwaway novelty? Just another piece of landfill in two or three years.
I purchased a black and gray nato strap with a black Omega buckle. It’s going to look a lot better than that moon strap. Thank You for your open minded feed back.
This is the greatest watch series ever made. Period. Better than Rolex, Omega, Patek etc etc. The refined designs, the beautiful colors, the theme everything just clicks. These will go down in history as the best watches ever crafted. - WW
Nice Bruce.... Really for people who is offended or claim it devalue original speedmaster... They should just chill out a little more. This is only quartz for a start and the bio ceramic to create cheaper look from the real thing. Just think it of Omega cheap way of killing off homages or cheap fakes. At least this one is real and from the same company.
Bioceramic is essentially a fancy recycled plastic with some ceramic mixed. But looking Good....Only questions about battery,if battery stop working what you have to do? Found another swiss battery absolutely not easy.Good Luck everybody !
What a stupid statement. If an Omega Speedmaster retails for $6,000, the MoonSwatch at $260 is 4.3% of the Omega. YOU EXPECT THE SAME QUALITY STANDARDS AT FOR POINT THREE PERCENT OF THE PRICE? Moron.
Appropriate for the price ? Is the price good for this watch? For 260 dollars and without looking much you can find very good watches from reputable brands with superior specifications IMHO
I'll point out I did not say this is the best value for the price. I don't search for value props. But considering what's on the market at 260... This is completely in line.
To be honest , they could of made it in steel , with the quartz movement. But that would have really caused an uproar. While they are quite cool , I doubt they will last long. For $300 , you can buy some decent watches from seiko etc... It would have been really cool in steel on a decent leather strap , with different dial colours for the planet's. Even if they cost $500, at least you might have something that gave you 15 years of wear. Personally I wouldn't buy one , if I wanted a speedie then I'd get the real McCoy.
Bruce, you're the man, but come on my guy, no one with A. Lange and Sohne in their collection is wearing this plastic quartz watch more than once or twice. Honestly I don't think they are buying this watch for themselves to begin with. I know I am not, and none of my friends, colleagues or people I have talked to in my watch clubs are. Some have said they may buy one as a gift for one of their kids, or as a gag to wear as a joke, but the idea this toy watch would be in the same case as, let alone take wrist time from some of the watches you are saying it would be in rotation with is just silly. I am glad people like the watch and get to have Omega on the wrist for under $300, but it's not a really a watch for people that collect luxury mechanical timepieces.
I know 3 Lange owners and they each wear a big mix of brands at different price segments and are not watch snobs. 100 percent down for something fun like this
@@BruceWilliams like I said your the man. The last thing I want to do is argue with you, and anyone who genuinely likes the Moonswatch I am glad they will hopefully soon be able to get one at its retail price, and happy for them that it exists. That said it is a plastic watch, with an extemely cheap inaccurate quartz movement, that is the same case, same size and nearly identical to the Pro. To me, and people in my orbit there is nothing special, collectable or anything about this watch other than it saying Omega on it that is cool. I just don't see to many people that appreciate quality, craftsmanship, timeless design and attention to every detail so much they collect and wear watches like A. Lange and Sohne, but are going to also wear this watch. There is nothing wrong with this watch, and hope people have fun with it, but comparing it to and having side by side with some of the watches you mentioned in this video is again to me just silly. There are fun watches, but they are still quality, well made pieces that will last and have a sole if you know what I mean. The Tissot PRX for example. Or the Hamilton Intra-Matic. Baume and Mercier Riviera, BB58 and so on. That all said I probably dont understand most people. Those mobs of people I saw online lining up the day before the releases, and now people actually selling these plastic watches for thousands of dollars more than the real Speedmaster Pro, is just something I will never understand. Lastly, a wise man once told me snob is word made up by people judging others to make themselves feel better, about what they do not know, cannot understand or do not have the means to experience. There is a difference between being knowledgeable, and having standards that you have worked hard to achieve, and being an ass hole. I find most of the time though the so called "snob" is not the one being the ass hole, but the person calling them that out of their own insecurities. Being an ass hole is never cool, but I will never apologize for being knowledgeable and having standards. Sorry for the book 😆
But you know how to put the large chrono (second) hand onto the correct position - right? Same as all the original Swatch chronographs - the hands were often in mixed up positions after a battery change. I love this version of the Speedmaster - a much easier thing to wear than my Speedmaster from 1971. I only hope that the movement is more robust than the early swatch chronos - most were mechanically dead before the third battery change. I have a drawer with at least 8 dead watches from the first and second series…
The Swatch group should have given a choice of matching straps. With a matching Omega belt buckle. More high end watch makers should do the same. For the common Jane & Joe.
I’m one of those who won’t spend thousands to get a real speedmaster- go look up costs to service one. I did get the Bulova Lunar Pilot and its accuracy is amazing. I would only get a moonswatch if it’s the different colored one.
Nobody seems to explain the registers... is that 10 hours? While I agree this makes people more likely to buy a mechanical watch, already having this look, I would think that next watch is less likely to be a speedy.
Can't hear the term BIO CERAMIC any more. It is not BIO, it is plastic and so it is not a watch for 2022! I would love to see videos about this plastic watch in six months and laugh about all the nice scratches....
bahahahaha You getting a $300 "speedy" isn't even in the same ballpark as an actual one. Hell it isn't even in the same city! This is a $10 piece of plastic with a $20 quartz movement, with $200 worth of Omega branding.

bio-ceramic = plastic water bottles and other plastic based trash recycled into "bio-ceramic". Actually a good thing in many ways , but hardly true ceramic as compared to Panerai, Tudor, or even the true ceramic Omega Seamaster. Just clarifying.
@@villagranvicent You're so right . Definitely misleading. I'm not sure Swatch was completely ready for all the hoopla that this created . Not a high accuracy quartz, but probably still more accurate than every automatic watch on the market bar the spring drive. I do like this product, I think it's a great idea. But whether it's good long term for the Omega brand, I'm not sure. Only time will tell!
If the only reason to buy this watch is for the speedmaster heritage then that is not enough. That sloppy chronograph hand alignment is overall toy-like build does not justify the $300 price tag. For that price I'd rather get a G-Shock or a quartz Seiko chrono which are much better quality. $150-$200 would have been more reasonable.

These are cool.. but, I think I'd only get one that speaks to me the most. Hopefully they will be restocked and available online sooner than later. I'm in absolutely no hurry.
Idk? Maybe over time I may add the next best one for kicks when I feel like adding something new without going too expensive, then another later when it seems right, etc... But, getting all 11? Idk? I think spending probably over $3k in the end after taxes and maybe shipping costs seems a bit excessive for 11 of essentially the same watch, just cosmetically different.
Compared to a $6,000 Speedmaster, a $260 MoonSwatch is damn CHEAP (4.33% of an Omega).
Reminds me of something that comes with a Happy Meal
I own a 3861 speedmaster and absolutely plan on getting one of these eventually in a fun color
Thanks Bruce. I think Omega is testing the market with this release to find out if there is any interest in the watch community for more vatients of the real moon watch! Will have to wait and see.
Great and clear review, big props!!!
Thank you!
watch enthusiasts weren't fighting with each other to get this watch. Instagramers and scalpers were fighting with each other to get this watch.
👍
Great review Bruce. I have not handled one of these, but saw a video on here showing can re calibrate that chrono hand to align to 12
A fashion watch, with a famous model from a luxury brand's shadow.
Nice video Burce! I looked at the sold prices on eBay and cannot believe people are paying so much over list for the MoonSwatch ...
We expect the snobs to get all salty about the bioceramic Speedy but that's okay. We plebs will gladly wear this. Also, can you imagine those uptight Rolex people doing something like this? Of course not. They are trying to snatch as many bills out of their customer's wallets as they can.
Great swatch can't wait for mine 👍🏻
I really like this Omega Speedmaster in plastic! :) It looks even cooler than the version in steel!
I like the Pluto, Earth, and Uranus colours... I think Pluto is what I will go for when they become available again.
Why not get the Bulova one then? Far less plastic and better feel.
The Sistem51 is cheaper and has a mechanical movement, I wish that at the minimum they took the movement from that and put it in here. It may sport some Omega branding, but it is in the end a plasticky quartz watch for 360CAD, the co-branding doesn't make it a deal.
Is the Sistem51 a chronograph movement?
Youre paying for the design and the endorsement by Omega. Good enough!
"but it’s an omega speedmaster" NO, it is not. An SpeedMaster is not only about the dial, it is also about the materials and the movement inside.
This is a plastic quartz Swatch and not available at Omega dealers.
100 percent a speed master!
Is a Squier Stratocaster a real Stratocaster ? I don’t think so, it’s just an official homage for beginners which makes the real deal even more desirable.
@@giusepperocchi2979 disagree. Famous guitar players have played squiers.
For the price it is definitely NOT appropriate that the chronograph hand does not align…. Its a cool little watch but for something that Omega is stamping their name on, id expect it to at least have good quality control.
Hands can be alligned!
In some senses (history aside) is this kinda a fasion watch? Cheap plastic case, quartz, velcrow strap, no water resistance. Seriously curious
No, it’s a happy meal watch.
To be honest, I only watch these videos because of my fascination with his hedgehog hairdo.
I'm growing it for more height my guy
Nice review, and it looks like a great watch which I will get when it becomes available again.
The 🐬 at Uranus, I’m dying!
the watch community took a 260.00 watch and turned it into "Unavailable" unless you want to get priced gouged
Great comments Bruce . Totally agree , this watch is all about fun and nothing more. I'm sure they would look even better on some NATO straps. I'd use one when tinkering around with my classic car and not worry about scratches and scrapes.
Omega is selling their brand and Speedmaster model for 260 dollars, Swatch is selling another plastic disposable watch for 260 dollars.
Omega is owned by swatch
A mechanical or mechaquartz option would be nice. Still waiting to buy a Mission to Moon online.
"...NO plans for an online release." - Swatch, April 4, 2022
The following is a direct cut & paste of an e-mail response I received, from Swatch, on April 4th:
"Thank you for your interest in the Bioceramic Moonswatch Collection. We are currently out of stock in all participating locations worldwide. There is currently no timeline on a re-stock the collection at the Swatch North Park location. When available the collection will be sold on a first come, first served basis in store only. At this time there are no plans for an online release. Feel free to contact us as often as you would like for updated information."
So, basically:
1.) Make public announcement of a collaboration with Omega.
- WW
You can adjust that Chrono hand misalignment…
Cool, fun watches. I like ‘em.
I actually like it in this colour
Divisive because it separated watch enthusiasts from the ones that want an asset class
So when is the Longines x Swatch coming out for the Master collection?
Might spend $100 more and get the Bulova Lunar Pilot instead.
Just ordered one from Etsy for $146 out the door, it will be in rotation with a Patek 5960 P anthracite dial and a Richard Mille RM029 in Rose 🥀
I wonder how the world react if Swatch produces a Sistem51 version of the Moonswatch.
I'm in the hunt for the Pluto for my daughter. Retail price only.
I like the Pluto too. Patience is a virtue. I can wait for the hype to fade.
Thanx for showing
Nice Bruce.... Really for people who is offended or claim it devalue original speedmaster... They should just chill out a little more. This is only quartz for a start and the bio ceramic to create cheaper look from the real thing. Just think it of Omega cheap way of killing off homages or cheap fakes. At least this one is real and from the same company.
The chrono is not lining up in almost all of the videos here on YT. :(
Bought the Mission to Uranus watch in Bangkok yesterday where i live.I like it apart from the strap.
Bioceramic is essentially a fancy recycled plastic with some ceramic mixed. But looking Good....Only questions about battery,if battery stop working what you have to do? Found another swiss battery absolutely not easy.Good Luck everybody !
Or just service it in a swatch outlet
The misalign and the inconsistency for me means that Omega has different quality standard in every price point.
What a stupid statement. If an Omega Speedmaster retails for $6,000, the MoonSwatch at $260 is 4.3% of the Omega. YOU EXPECT THE SAME QUALITY STANDARDS AT FOR POINT THREE PERCENT OF THE PRICE? Moron.
This is a Swatch manufactured watch, only having anything to do with Omega in marketing.
i went to a swatch store today and tried this on. unfortunately, it looks cheap, so I ended up not buying it.
I’ll get the Mars edition for my wife and just keep enjoying my Bulova Lunar Pilot.
Personally I wouldn't buy one , if I wanted a speedie then I'd get the real McCoy.
love how the seconds hand has a flick back at 2:40 What a cheap movement
Horrible.
“Swiss made”
😅😂
@@rickyromano6659 too long didnt read ;)
@@BruceWilliams my bad brother. I thought it said to leave an editorial 😆 Regardless, I appreciate and enjoy the content. Cheers
Great review
Awesome video. You got yourself an awesome watch. How did you obtain yours?
That's not a Speedmaster. Kinda like if Mercedes put their logo on a Datsun won't make it a real Merc. Dear me smh
Denial is the first stage my friend
I was thinking of getting the new speedie for $7k but now I’m loving the idea of getting the same speedie for $300.
bahahahaha You getting a $300 "speedy" isn't even in the same ballpark as an actual one. Hell it isn't even in the same city! This is a $10 piece of plastic with a $20 quartz movement, with $200 worth of Omega branding.
@@internetentertainmentmedia2451 it looks pretty much exactly the same, and it says Speedmaster right on it. So believe you me - I’m going to enjoy my $300 Speedy and wear it proudly
I don't see how you can compare the two just because the dial says Speedmaster 🤔 it might be a wannabe Speedmaster but it's not a Speedmaster and it's not a Omega. It's a swatch
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 FACTS Its a plastic Swatch with cheap a quartz movement that has Omega branding on it lmao
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 all I’m saying is it looks like a speedy, it’s made by the owner of the speedy, it has Omega on it… it’s basically a Speedy
I dig it but $260? It's halfway cash to a new Seiko 5. And equal money to an incredibly versatile smartwatch.
The Sistem 51 is $150 for a fully automatic really groundbreaking Swatch story.
i have a constellation and im used to wearing it now. but its gold and i dont wanna damage it so i think ill get one of these so i can still wear an omega
Is swatch gonna do a version 2.o. remember the cheap casios and seikos in the early 70's. Seiko calculator watch for 60 canadian pesos. Swatches from 60 northern pesos. Still have em all and a speedy 125 behemoth. Al great watches.
Now a battery speedmaster. Heresy
bio-ceramic = plastic water bottles and other plastic based trash recycled into "bio-ceramic". Actually a good thing in many ways , but hardly true ceramic as compared to Panerai, Tudor, or even the true ceramic Omega Seamaster. Just clarifying.
The problem with those marketing terms is that make fools believe they are buying something special. This is a plastic watch, period.
@@villagranvicent You're so right . Definitely misleading. I'm not sure Swatch was completely ready for all the hoopla that this created . I've kind of been sitting back and getting a good laugh out of this whole thing . Just wish they were more straight forward and honest and just called it what it was .
Loud tick is cool. Like a real watch.
You can align the hands .. just pull out the crown and press the pushers..
didn’t expect that peeep on the cyan model
Not a high accuracy quartz, but probably still more accurate than every automatic watch on the market bar the spring drive. I do like this product, I think it's a great idea. But whether it's good long term for the Omega brand, I'm not sure. Only time will tell!
If the only reason to buy this watch is for the speedmaster heritage then that is not enough. That sloppy chronograph hand alignment is overall toy-like build does not justify the $300 price tag. For that price I'd rather get a G-Shock or a quartz Seiko chrono which are much better quality. $150-$200 would have been more reasonable.
You can easily adjust the hand. Random Rob will show you
@@waggadorn no that adjustment only changes where the zero position is and won't help Bruce. The hand can still miss every single second marker as it ticks along.
There are certainly better value propositions out there. But if collecting were solely based on that we would be wearing duros or 5610s
@@BruceWilliams
God tier can hardly be beaten.
It's a 260 dollar swatch. And they're selling it for three or even ten times the price on ebay...
So will there be a recall for them, any of them? The venus one, the blue one, where the dye bleeds. The
thoughts are simplified for the moment, given the distribution, and not near a swatch boutique.
Hi, mate. IMHO It should came with a mecaquartz movement...
I don't think swatch makes those
