Thanks for the update. I am looking at replacing my 2010 TriGlide with a 2019 demo trike this Tuesday (10/13/20) and appreciate your input. I’ve got the 103 with a stage 2 kit (S&S cams) and it has plenty of torque, so I will be using that as a comparison of the 114 M8.
Looking forward to hearing what you think of the differences between the two.
@@DKCustomProducts well, I’ve put 200 miles on the new Trike and the 114 is definitely more peppy than the stock 103, but the torque gained from the S&S cams in the Stage 2 makes them reasonably close in performance. The one thing I really like is the increased Rake of the 2020 makes it handle quite a bit better in corners, and the linked brakes are really nice as well.
@@Tryke_Ryder Glad you're enjoying your new ride. Rake on 2010 TG is 26 degrees, which is the same on the 2020. You're ease of turning is due to something else. Yes, lots of folks like the linked brakes!
@@DKCustomProducts you are correct, which proves the salesman had no clue! It does steer better. 🤷🏻♂️
@@Tryke_Ryder The better steering you are experiencing is probably a combination of better front forks, and if you had the stock rear suspension on the 2010 and the stock rear suspension on the 2019, the tail end sits higher, which in effect changes the rake, making the TG steer easier.
And yes, it is rare to find a dealership salesperson that is even vaguely knowledgeable regarding the bikes/trikes they are selling.
I just stumbled on to your trike videos. I’ve been on three wheels since 2013 after having a knee replacement. There’s not much left on my TriGlide I haven’t upgraded with Kuryakin . It’s carried me all around the Country and only broke down once(stator).

I seen on you tube videos the new CVO triglide comes with lighted handlebar controls, hope they have a kit soon for my 2019 triglide

Thank you for this video! I am in the process of finding a bike/trike for my wife and I, we are between the Road King and the tri-glide. Many of my friends who ride tell me to stay away from the Harley's. they say that they known for breakdowns, oil leaks...one said that the bike/trike would spend more time on a lift then on the road. I don't have any experience in owning a Harley's, but i love the look, sound and the over all feel of a Harley. What are your thoughts on my friends comments? I'm stubborn enough to stick to my guns when i make up my mind on something...but I just wanted to hear your thoughts on this subject. are the newer HD more reliable then their predecessors?
The newer Harley's don't leak, and don't spend near as much time broken down as they used to. You very rarely hear or see a 2007 or later Harley broken down...just does not happen that much. They will have problems, like any other vehicle...but no more than most, and less than some. They all have heat challenges, but you will find that trade-off for the classic look and sound. The Harley Trikes also ride pretty rough from the factory, but that is something that is easily taken care of. You can get Trike kits that ride smoother, but when you convert a 2 wheel bike to a trike you give up the factory warranty, and they end up costing close to the same as a factory trike. And lastly, they are more expensive than their Japanese counterparts. Bottom line, if you like the look and sound of a Harley, and will address the heat issue and (on the trikes) the suspension issue, you will have a very comfortable and reliable ride, with no more issues than any other make of motorcycle.
I personally have close to 150k miles on a Tri Glide and have never been broken down or had an oil leak. Have ridden all over the USA, Western Canada, and all the way up to the Arctic Circle.
Well, I like your videos I’m wanting to get a Triglide and all and I didn’t know if you’re I live in Florida if you’re shopping in Mississippi if you guys install that stuff or what but when I do get one I wanna get some of the stuff that you guys have talked about and suspension and the lift kit and stuff like that so anyway, I am the tank lift kit. Oh all right well I’ll pay you guys are doing a great job I think, so y’all have a great one happy new year to you

Thank you for great information. You mentioned you adjusted your truck latch to stop it from poping open out on the road. Mine has done this twice so far, how do you adjust?
In the door is a post that gets captured by the latch in the body. That post has a lock nut on it. You can loosen the lock nut, adjust the position of the post to latch more securely, and then tighten the lock nut back down.

No disrespect intended but, why do you have to do so many upgrades to a new Tri Glide? Why doesn’t HD build the trike with these upgrades to begin with? I have 129,000 miles on my GL1800/DFT trike. Haven’t really done anything to it.
They don't "need" to be done for the typical 3,000 mile a year rider. For those the ride a lot 10, 20, 30, 40 thousand miles a year they make the ride much more comfortable, better longevity, and better performing. There is no doubt that HD could do a better job, and they have added many improvements every year or so, they are just behind the curve by a decade or two...been that way as long as I can remember.
Where did you get the seat cover. Looking for 1 for my 16 ultra
If you are asking about the Saddleman cover that leaked like a sieve, even after waterproofing it, we got that at Revzilla. If you are ask about the plastic trash bag that works like a charm, and never leaks, Walmart. :)
I recently went from a 2017 Electra glide to a 2017 tri glide. It seems there is more “engine noise” from the trike. Is this normal? (8,000 miles on the trike)
Typically one hears more engine noise of the Trikes than the two wheelers...not a lot, but a little. Just because those back fenders sort of create a little echo between them and the front lowers fairings. There should be no top end clatter like the Twin Cams though.

Hey no tune?-that leaves you possibly running lean and hot-the tune also unleashes a lot of torque potential

It is true that there is some more power to be gotten out of them with a tune, but as seen from the report above, it is not a lot...not nearly what you get by updating the factory tune on a Sporty or Twin Cam.
How about the Wilbers Suspension? Self adjusting I understand.
We have not tested these. With the $1800 price tag, and that they do not specify fitment for the Harley Trikes, it is probably not something we will be testing anytime soon. Looks like an interesting technology though.
Was wondering what your mileage was, would help with our next trip planning spending, and what RPMs are you running at? Reason I ask would it be beneficial to increase by one tooth the drive sprocket? Thank you
My MPG varies quite a bit. If I am on back roads/county roads, riding between 45 & 55 mph, with no significant wind, I will get 37-40 mpg.
On the interstate, running 70-75 mph, the MPG drops to 32-34 mpg...and the faster I go, the more it drops.
If there is a headwind or crosswind, depending on how strong it is, that alone can drop the mpg be 3 to 9 mpg.
I have thought about a sprocket change on the M8 Trikes...not concerned about twisting the crank like on the Twin Cams, and I think it could be geared higher, like it was on the 2009-2010 HD Trikes.

I'm kind of surprised you've NOT chosen to obtain a RUSSEL Day Long saddle.
Tri Glides are their own kind of fun. Comfortable too. We use the sheepskin to be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. I've tried a variety of different seats, and everyone's butt is different. For years and years we would take the seat apart and reshape it, adding some comfort foam, to fit us.
After discovering the Air Hawk, it is more comfortable than anything I've tried. Butt fatigue is a think of the past...even on 12 hours days.
Kevin, I just purchased a 21 TriGlide Ultra of which I still have not received. My question, I have read terrible things about the battery powered reverse as to how fragile and battery draining it is to the point that several owners have plunked down $1500 for the kit and labor of about $300 to $400 for mechanical reverse install? Have you had any serious issues with your TGU?
I have had 3 Tri Glides, an '11, a '14 and now the '19. The '11 had the reverse replaced under warranty, the '14 had the reverse replaced under warranty. The '19 had not had the reverse replaced.
I use the reverse pretty much everytime I ride...at minimum once when I back out of the shop. Many times when backing out of a parking space also.
So I use it quite a bit.
While they are a bit of a weak link, they are not terrible. 2 replaced under warranty and over 150k miles of use. I have no complaints.
Is a mechanical reverse better? Yes, but I have never been tempted to get one.
Because of all the electronics on these Trikes, I will not own one without a warranty, so if there is a problem, pop a new one in, it is covered by the warranty.

I just replaced the reverse on my 18 TG with less than 5k miles. Under extended warranty, but still BOO.
Tell us about the reverse good or bad ?
Reverse has been working fine on the '19, but it does not appear any different than previous years. On our 2011 TG the reverse was replaced twice under warranty, and on the '14 it was also replaced twice under warranty. They are a poor design and prone to failure. When they work, they work fine, but they do fail and need to be rebuilt or replaced. Some folks replace them with a mechanical reverse.
I hope your Moose radar is fully engaged while you are zipping along there. One of those can ruin your whole day.

The MSRP for the 2020 Tri Glide starts at 34,999 and goes up from there. But if you look around, and do some negotiating, you should be able to get one for less than MSRP.
Out the door without upgrades after taxes and all fees and a min 3 year Warrenty. Around $47
I'm sorry I was wonder about the sheep skin cover
The sheepskin is a piece that we got from Alaska Sheepskin company, well over 10 years ago. We cut it to roughly the shape of the entire seat, front and back, and then cut a slot in it for the riders backrest (and sewed around that hole so it would not tear out).
@@DKCustomProducts Don't know if they are the same company, but I got mine from Alaska Leather. Pre-cut with straps to fit my Road Zepelin seat on my 2010 Trike. Also make them for other seats.
