From now on whenever I visit Costco, I’ll be on the hunt for the secret Costco shopper.
Patricia J same lol
I wanna be one come find me in 5 years
Secret Costco shopper tf?
MrSlidthunder you’d know what he meant if you watched the video
Yeah, that will never happen. The employees always look like it's their last day.
The pharmacy can be used by anyone; no membership required. This is for all big warehouse stores. It's a law.
Jo Bassett I walked into the food bit and I wasn't asked for card
How do you get past the membership Karens at the entrance and exit?
@Aero I don’t know if you can do it now with all the restrictions, but before the craziness of 2020 I would just walk in the exit
@@aero33888 they were only checking people coming from tills
@@terran3216 I'm in the uk
How do you steal from Costco?
Don't mind me sir, im just sticking this 50lb bag of rice into my pocket.
Just casually tossing this pack of 98 hamburger buns into my purse.
Thats why I thought...who is trying to steal at Costco? Who's purse is BIG ENOUGH?? 😵
The thieves are picking up items and then making it to the emergency exit to bail out with their cart. I have seen the security guys moving to get them. I hope they were prosecuted heavily because I do not want to pay more for items I buy. 😠
Lol!
I used to work there and the secret shopper told me the things that were stolen the most were anti-aging creams
Tat was so funny 😂
*I worked at Costco for 10 years, yes you can return everything, but I'll tell you this, if you abuse the return policy (and the store will know) you'll be told you cannot return anymore items or they will cancel your membership*
Mr Anderson what do you mean by abuse the system? I change my mind about stuff, not opened then return it. Are you talking about people who open something, eat a bit, then return the opened package?
@@rosiej9231 Mostly stuff like that. It's mainly seen in HABA items. HABA meaning Health and beauty. That area of the store gets hit a lot with people returning half used HABA items e.g. vitamins , shampoo etc.
@@rosiej9231 people who eat 50 percent or more or just frequently return the same kind of items such as electronics or other things
@@rosiej9231 Excessive returns probably like several times in a month or of the same items over and over etc.... Many businesses are this way.....
@@rosiej9231 almost every business has this policy if you return too many products they wont accept it after certain number of returns. I worked at ross and some people cant return their items because they buy amd return too many times in a certain period of time so they have to call a number and explain why they do that.
When i return something to old navy i dont always use my id because they will see my other returns so that doesnt count on my because im using my husband id.
when food samples are freshly put on the tray its like a flock of seagulls coming in... I swear people just go to costco to load up on samples lol
Oooh, do they put on a little concert, too? My favorite song by A Flock of Seagulls is 'Space Age Love Song.' What's yours?
my family used to go there for “lunch” and eat all the samples, and then end with a churro. lol those were the best days
I didn’t check to comments to be insulted ;-;
I buy things as well...
I missed those days. No more samples thanks to miss rona. I still love Costco though.
The 21 dislikes are from Sam club employees

LMFAO

🤣
4:50 “the farther you walk into the store, the better the deals are.”
Me: 🏃🏻♂️💨
That part is true. That's why the good stuff is behind.
Uh huh! They're counting on you finding 300 bucks of cool stuff before you get there, though, so close your eyes while you're running! 🤣
I have a list and I don't shop around. I go in, get what I need and split. It pisses me off when they move stuff from their regular location too. Tempted to not renew.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH it used to bother me too, until the day I found something I had wanted and couldn’t find anywhere else. Not even online. Now I make it a habit to check out every aisle at least once every four visits.
Love Costco! They are one of a few employers that pay fair and the CEO is very fair.
fair is relative. Many stores define fair like rewarding members with golf club memberships they would never go to.
@@mofo7689 😂😂😂😂
@@mofo7689 It's not the wages, it's the rents!!
@@vince7735 in every finance counceling I gave, it was always a matter of 'the cost of living high" vs "the high cost of living." @@mofo7689 You clearly don't know about Costco and its CEO. He owns the entire company, but doesn't take a bigger salary than his higher level employees.
All three of these people were a pleasure to watch. Their tips were helpful, sure, but they really seemed to be speaking candidly and honestly. Thanks for the info. Great video. Very informative.
A person in front of me returned a TINY slice of the sheet cake...said it didn’t taste good! Got a full refund for the cake!
Costco should write a book on their unbelievably nervy returns!!!
Everything is noted in your membership that's why you can return things without a receipt and they do keep track. If you abuse it too much they will cancel your membership.
At my warehouse we retire at least 50% of food products
Saw someone return a dried up christmas tree... in late January! they accepted!
I used to know someone whose husband was a Costco manager. She told a story at a girl's night of some man who came in and slammed an open, half used box of condoms on the counter and said, "These didn't work! My wife got pregnant!" Funniest story of the night and I still remember it almost 20 years later. 🤣
Costco makes their money on memberships. The average mark up is 6%. That's why such a lenient return policy.
I find that the best days/time to shop at Costco are Tuesday & Wednesday -- around 2PM. There are also less people on the line for Returns. I've shoped at Costco for 26 years and rarely have to return anything. But I have 2 items to return and I'll be going there next week.
I always go weeknights, arriving about 8pm, 30 mins before closing. By the time I'm ready to check out, it's a ghost town in there. Worst time to go? Mid day or late afternoon during the week before xmas. Can't even find parking.
Over in my city we gotta have a costco card to get into the store so buying without being a member is impossible
Could always just go through the exits and say you’re going to the food court
Do they let you in to become a member, or is there a secret site for that?
recoil53 there’s like the entrance where you have to sign up on the spot then go in but apart from that it’s a strict no membership = not going in
recoil53 there’s a desk by the exit, you walk in through the exit and sign up. You could always walk through the exit and look around, but can’t buy anything without a card. You can use the food court tho
Nas you are able to buy without a membership if someone gifted you a gift card.....you just show that at the door other than that ya a membership is 100% needed
When I worked in grocery, I had a lot of customers complain about our undercover shoppers/loss prevention because they thought that they were looking for unattended purses or shoplifting. Lol.
I used to work at Costco as well and the lady vendors are extremely cool. Always had a good time talking to them when I would clean around the store.

No idea what nonsense you're spouting, but she's a hottie.
I always say thank you after I get a free sample and one time there was an older male and when I said it he got so happy and gave me like 5 more samples and then said that that was the first time someone said thank you to him in a while
Yeah, it makes me sooooo mad when people don’t thank them. They work really hard
I said thank you to one of the sample people and they told me that no one ever thanks them or even makes eye contact or acknowledges them. I always try to say thank you, but after hearing that I make an extra effort to acknowledge them and show appreciation for their efforts.
That's really strange I usually talk to them and definitely thank them
I always thank them. What is wrong with people 🙄
I used to do the Aidells display and it’s more like a swarm of locusts than seagulls and very rarely did anyone say thank you. Even worse were the people who didn’t want to wait for them to be heated or displayed properly. Some were so rude that they would grab the toothpick while someone was picking up the napkin. There were nice people also, unfortunately they were in the minority.
The dispensing fee at the pharmacy is typically the lowest of any dispensing fee and you don't have to have a membership to fill prescriptions there.
I stopped regular shopping at Costco because of the “treasure hunt” behavior. I got so frustrated by not being able to find what I wanted quickly. Now I order only two things and get gas at Costco. Everything else I get from a regular grocery store because I can get in and out quickly. The store doesn’t move items randomly to different locations.
Its called merchandising dummy
Thank you. That was very helpful. And honest. Don't see that much anymore from stores.
This is literally free advertising for Costco😂
I don’t think they need it lol
I think they paid for it...
@@GinaG613 Highly doubt that...
Costco actually saves money by not advertising.
I used the Costco Auto Program to buy a car and while it's limited to a certain dealer depending on the car company, the CAP gave me a really good leveraging point. I managed to get free tire rotations and oil changes for the first three years of owning the car. It was definitely worth the while.
I hate to bust your bubble, I bought a new car without Costco and they gave me free oil change and tire rotation for 3 years. Now every time I take it in they try to up sale me something that the dealer recomends.
Got the Costco Honda Clarity discount in 2018, after rebates wound up less expensive than the Prius bought in 2006.
This is a long ad
Costco really does care about the satisfaction of their customers. I have always had a good experience at Costco.
Some of those arnt true, at least around me. They card everyone going in and refuse entry for anyone without.
Elmer RedEagle same
ive worked at costco for 5 years. our store is extremely strict and no one goes in without a card
Yeah we always have to flash a membership card at the door.
You enter from the exit and if they say something to you, you tell them you're interested in becoming a member!
Let the employees at the door know you want to buy alcohol or go to the pharmacy and they will either let you in or have someone escort you around. It depends on the warehouse but that’s usually what they do. Also if you have a gift card they will let you in with that too
Costco employees are the best people ever. Never met a rude employee.
Maple Grove, MN has rude employees, especially in the auto center. I've never encountered rudeness at any other store and I've been to every store in MN and in Costcos from Minnesota to Texas and all the states in between.
@@mallie43_68 I agree, I’ve met some employees at Costco that weren’t any better than the ones at Walmart here in California. Overall the best experience with employees has been chick fil a for me.
I love my Costco!! I shop there for 4 house holds! my own, two house holds who never have time to go and a family member who is disabled. I get odd looks from some of the customers there. But never from the employees. In fact, I let them know I have another cart. They let me put it to the side until I am done shopping. And they take the time to ring up every item according to the house holds they need to go to. we do this at a register that does not choke up the line for everyone else. I then get help loading my car after I can park it closer to the front door. I LOVE the staff at my Costco!
In NJ specifically (due to certain laws) you do not have to be a member to use the pharmacy or to get gasoline! Some of the medication prices at Costco pharmacy are really great, but they do have shortened hours so it can be difficult for some people to get there.
Yeah but gas prices are usually different for members vs non-members 🤷🏼♀️ Here you can also buy other items without membership, buy there’s a huge markup 🤷🏼♀️
I worked at Costco during the holiday madness... it was the hardest work I have ever done in my life!
this just assured my love for costco even more
Thanks Costco employees for all your hard work during the pandemic. I'm trying to imagine how someone would shoplift from Costco. You'd need a gianormous purse to fit that 24 pack of Miralax into.
You haven’t seen expert thieves then 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ive seen vids of a woman carrying a 24 pack of waters up her skirt... 30 lbs of meat inside pants.. plus not everything is huge in Costco (eg liquor, glasses, iPhones, etc) 🤷🏼♀️ If you had on sweatpants that were 3-4 sizes too big, you too could stuff them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was wondering the same thing . Especially with the employee checking receipts at the exit 🤔
They roll the big screen TVs ETC straight out the ENTRANCE door!
FYI from Spain: USA cards are not accepted here, and using Spanish cards in the USA is complicated; a manager always has to be called to do some special code or override.
@@onthehill3381 If you use an international card you do have to do a special override on the register. But Costco membership is valid at any Costco world wide. Payment card options may vary depending on the country though.
We just hit 7/ on the keyboard then scan the card as usual.
@@ZingoZann Just FYI, at least when they opened, they did *not* accept our US card. We had to purchase a membership here in Spain. We *have* been able to use our Spanish membership when visiting the US. That may have changed here; in general Customer Service here in Spain is considerably lesser than in the USA.
@@clbdyc It's been a few years since I've tried to use my card there; when I did, it was unusual enough of an event that multiple people had to be involved, and on more than one occasion, the manager just swiped a different card to the transaction could go through, and the line could keep moving. Headed to the States again in December; maybe we'll try again. I’m a Costco employee in Ontario Canada and everyone that enters must be a member unless a member brings in a guest then upon cashing out, that member has to pay for all items including the guests’. A lot of what they said is true and believe it or not there is a lot of theft that goes on in Costco. People have stuffed clothes/items in pots and pans. Switched out their old shoes for the new. Pretend they are trying on a clothing piece only to keep it on and then take the tags off in a secluded area. I am actually disgusted by how some of these members think they can get away with something just because they pay for a membership. I’m talking about the ones who take things out of the package and not purchase it.
At my Costco non-members can buy stuff if they came in with someone who has a membership, but only the member can pay for alcohol
Costco throws out whatever doesn't sell lol who cares
Product moving around must work differently in the states than here. We move product on Sundays for the new weekly flyer and put those items front and centre. If we move something for mid week, it’s because we are running low on stock. But I will agree that trying to find an item that has moved is a bit frustrating. Lol.
Costco products are surprisingly good, including the Kirkland alcohol.
Kirkland alcohol is the worst.

People steal things from Costco?? Like how?! All the packages are so big, and most people I see don't even carry any bags or just a small purse when they go to Costco.

Depending on the manager, you can purchase the display if they have no more of that item in stock and often at a discount
As a Target employee I found that annoying at my store--the part about merchandise being moved around in my section every six months.

I really get excited when I see Asian snacks at Costco since we don’t have Asian stores near us
In Canada they don’t move things around all the time. Once in a blue moon. Also I’m sad that in Ontario Canada we can’t buy alcohol at Costco.
Been a long time since I visited Canada. I remember seeing “Government Liquor Stores”. Sounded like a lot of fun.
I’m a Costco employee and we do our moves every Monday. During the week it’ll be minimal moves depending on if the end caps are low on stock etc.

I live south of Seattle, ours is always busy all day. Best time is a weekday night between 7:30 and 8:30 when they close. I need 1hr so it's the perfect time to go. :)
When I lived in San Jose, CA that store was so busy you can't really even find parking....sad. It was INSANE. I used to go to one in Pewaukee, WI before moving to CA and that was a ghost town compared to the ones in CA and WA.
I relate to this on a personal level. Going to ANY Costco in the Bay Area is like entering a war zone. I try to go 30-45 mins. before they close but sometimes it's still busy.

Costco will not let you shop with a Costco giftcard w/o having a membership. The point of the giftcard is to buy yourself a membership. Plus, if you constantly return produce from costco, they comment it under your membership account because of the abuse of returns. They do not accept produce back if its expired or more than 50% of the product gone. They take a huge loss on perishable returns. So dont be surprised if they tell you no.
I found that Costco employees replace expired perishables repacked with extended expiration dates (recycling). If after they recycled and still not sold, they are processed to be ready to cook or ready to eat shelves.
The constant moving around of merchandise is extremely frustrating! Besides that I love Costco!
I love Costco. I just wish they stock at least one brand of anti-bacterial soap. They have a very limited selection of bath soap. The rotisserie chicken is larger than most store bought rotisserie chicken and it cost less (usually only $4). Yumm! Love the food samples too, thanks Costco! BTW, I applied for three different jobs at the one in Baton Rouge, LA. Help me out! I need a job
Oh I agree on the chickens there are plump and delicious not like the ones you get other places that are dried up and look like Cornish hens.

I'm watching this and I don't even have a Costco membership card
Moving products and treasure hunting is always done on purpose. There's a science behind that. They want you to look and then see something to impulse buy. If they get you to spend an extra $100 then Costco or any retail store has done its job.
This was very helpful! Thanks.
Thanks you guys!! Great video
Man when you’ve been a manager at Costco for 5 years you KNOW your house is stocked UP !!! 😄
Yeah, I don't like the treasure hunt concept. I end up not buying it, because I hate searching around for things. I just assume they no longer have it, as I'm sure many others do.
Excellent. Thank you.
I love the return policy. We’ve never had any problems with returning defective or unsatisfactory products. I’m equally glad that Costco tracks and bans abusers of the system. For example, I bought a 3 lb bag of coffee that was terrible. It was a combination of burnt tires and the sludge that builds up in roof gutters. It wasn’t even suitable for cold brew. I only used a few ounces before returning it. I’m always blown away when I see people return food items that have been 80-90% consumed! How dishonest is that!?
Drugs and booze? Hmmmmm!
That’s a subject worth debating.
My favorite pastime was watching people feed their families on samples.
At my local Costco I saw a couple families purchase the rotisserie chicken, added in the samples, pulled out plastic utensils and fed their entire family. Between Costco and free school breakfasts and lunch they really saved! It was genius!
I love the Costco $5 rotisserie chicken 😋
It's overcooked.
Vannie Eats it’s salty and the texture isn’t that of normal chicken. Something is done to it.
Very unhealthy-read the ingredients..they add so much anti-inflammatory ingredients
Buy them and freeze. Some whole and some I take meat off the bone. It's great to reheat for a fast meal.
@@rosiej9231 Look at the ingredients, They shoot it up with tapioca! Ewww.
Careful on the water delivery. They charged us $57 for the delivery on 3 cases of water. We had to fight it because one we had free shipping and two they initially did not want to refund us the money. We had to speak to a few people to get it straight. Otherwise we love shopping there
Was that from a separate company?
This is more like a long ad than a "secrets revealed" video.
I’m confused about being able to buy certain things without a membership because they wouldn’t even let me in without one.
I’m gonna test this next time. If they ask me for my membership at the door, I’m just gonna say I’m not a member.
Gotta flex your rights.
@@brucewayne-ej3cx Since it is a store that provides services partially paid for by the membership fee, you have no rights. Grow up and pay your way like everyone else!
@@jeffwei Here's your answer... go to membership.
You can shop at the pharmacy without a membership because it's a federal law.
You can purchase beer, wine, and liquor (depending on if the state allows liquor) without a membership.
In order to purchase anything else, you'll need to ask a current member for a pre-paid shopping card. However, once the shop card runs out, you can no longer use it. If you decide Costco is for you, I'd say go ahead and get the membership because there are SO MANY PERKS to having it.
This is why Costco is my favorite store!
I think Costco is a great store. The gas was good too. I liked the sample people. They were friendly.
