- This dresser is made around 1900´s. It came to My workshop from the old private residence in Tallinn. It is one of the many items, I have restored for this house. It is not rare model, but it is still nicely designed true 19 century antique. It was unusual to see that all the original handles were still attached, so I gladly reused them.

Title: WATCH how I restored very broken dresser!
#restoration #howto #furniturerestoration
This is one of your best videos ever. You must spend hours and hours editing. Loved the effect where there were two of you. I appreciate that you save the music for the reveal only. You time lapse and 'real time' perfectly, and it's so well done. Birch is not my favorite wood (usually stains blotchy, for one), yet it really works for this piece...maybe it's the ebonized wood that takes it up a notch. Truly a beautiful restoration! I am in awe of your skill and artistry, Master!
I agree. So far the best restoration. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks David! I think I spent about 6-8 hours to edit this. 90% of the footage goes to trash, because there is so much repetitive work. I think my record was 90GB per video and final result was like 6GB. I forgot the show it on the video, I primed this dresser with thin shellac layer first, it reduces the blotchiness. Here in Estonia the birch is very common furniture material. Thanks again, it is always heart warming to read your comments.
@@ATRestoration I saw that birch/shellac trick before. Might have been on Thomas Johnson's channel. (My second favorite after your's, of course!) I appreciate all the time you put into all your videos. Your kind words also warmed my heart, Ahti. You just made my day, sir!

@@davidharris241 hello friend
When you see how much work and love goes into restoring these old dressers you learn to appreciate how much work and love went into creating these in the first place. Great job!
Every time I watch one of your projects, everything you do looks so easy, everything is not a problem, you always know what to do. I really admire that. You do a awesome job. Thx for sharing 👍🏽
I completely agree, I love watching a Craftsman/woman who practice their craft well.
If he showed the mistakes and things that he had to do over, it wouldn't look so easy. It's all taken out during editing.
@@dthorpe4855 IF it ever occurs in the first place.
Yes I screw up too. With this dresser I did some of the finishing twice because I wasn´t happy with that. With the finishing it happens a lot. Here I showed my screw ups with another project: ua-cam.com/video/sop9jDd_quU/v-deo.html
@@ATRestoration still, an expert craftsman!
Wow….blown away at the beauty of this restored chest. The black accents are such an elegant counter point to the gorgeously patterned wood. It’s so pleasing to see a fabulous piece like this SAVED by an EXPERT restoration. Thank you!!!
Oh wow, what a beautiful job! It was a nice piece to start with, but dudes....you took it from nice to flat out glorious! The staining the detail on the top was stunning, I am always impressed with your ability to color match. And your ability to recreate any details that have been lost to time and 'critter chewing'.
Very, very well done. Thank you so much for posting!
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
I love witnessing how you bring back the grandeur these furniture pieces once held and let us experience it as if we time traveled back 120 years ago! Always enjoy your craftsmanship and videos! Thank you for making these!
Once the younger generation realise the furniture they have now is crap there will be a market for all these old pieces.
It was a mess before you started. I totally did not expect you to turn new decorative features where it had been chewed. It looks very high end, elegant and expensive now. Gorgeous!
Mate, your work is absolutely awesome. 💯 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
This is so soothing. So many "restoration" videos pull off the hardware and paint stuff gray instead of, you know, actually restoring it. Let old-fashioned furniture be old-fashioned!
Я конечно не разбираюсь в породах дерева и т. д, но работу мастера вижу. Это МАСТЕР с большой буквы!
Hayyy
This work is incredibly detailed.. I have refinished a lot of furniture by I am rank amateur compared to this man. I take my hat off to your work and attention to detail.
Thanks God you didn't paint it white.
True restoration.
Шикарный комод, прекрасное восстановление! У бабушки был похожий.
It’s actually quite hypnotic watching one of your videos, I’m hooked.
If I hadn’t seen it, I wouldn’t have believed it was possible to make that into such a beautiful piece. Truly masterful work! It is gorgeous!!!
It’s good that people take effort in to keep their heirloom in good hands with you in rendition, love your shellac works and hide glue repairs
This channel is one of our favorites. It's great to see a master restorer at work.
Experience, dedication, love! Absolutely stunning! Thank you!
Wow, I really like that dresser with the contrasts in colors.
Last night I was looking at my grandparents little secretary and got tired of the front door leaning down below level when open, so I took the sliding stops off to see what it would take to fix that and I realized that the hinge areas had been torn out and kinda repaired. I decided that I wanted to maintain the beautiful veneer, so I decided to chisel out the base oak and leave the veneer. I will then find some oak to glue in between then reshape the original curve. The holes for the pivot anchors will be an easy fix of drilling, dowels and redrilling.
I figure that will be the easy part. The hard part (for me) will be figuring out how to finish it. I think I'll end up taking it to someone that knows, to get advice and supplies.
Thank you for the inspiration and ideas.
You have taught me the difference of restoration and repairing. Thank you!
Красота необыкновенная! И мастер, как всегда, отлично и профессионально сделал прекрасную вещь ещё красивей!
You litterally resurrected that dresser!!! Amazing!!
I am in love, that is so gorgeous! I know there are people who are purists and want an antique piece that has all original everything. But to me, it's the story behind the piece of furniture. I love knowing that it has seen so many eras come and go, but I also want it to look beautiful.
It’s so nice to bring something back to life, maybe even better then original.save it from the landfill and make someone very happy.Nice work.
Every restoration is a masterpiece. Your style is the same that we use in our laboratory. We appreciate very much 👍👍👍
The respect for this vulnerable piece, careful handling…… was beautiful to watch. I’m wondering where the passion for restoring fast disappearing art came from 🤔 xxx
Stunning restoration without losing any of the original vibe.
Wowser, ATD at it's finest. Beautiful craftsmanship along with your sense of humor....
A double thumbs up to this one! It turned out beautiful.
One of the most dramatic restoration I have seen, great work.
I wish I had a tenth of your talent, woodworking AND music. Beautiful job.
Stay well and safe.
Back to its old glorie. Well done 👍😎🐕🦺
I am absolutely amazed by your level of craftsmanship and expertise. The dresser is stunning. Thank you for sharing!
I have watched many of your restorations and you never cease to amaze me with your patience and skill.
I have to repeat David Harris: This is one of your best videos ever. Now I add this: I love how he can capture his own feelings about the details of the piece in one word. I felt the same. The curves of the top in the black so graceful.
Вправність рук, глибокі знання,художній смак дали чудовий результат.
Браво!
You are beyond amazing at your craft. Your work is outstanding and the finished piece is absolutely stunning. You are a true and gifted artesian and craftsman.
Just AMAZING !!! Bravo! No words can express my feelings ...
Идеально, просто идеальная реставрация. Спасибо за чудесное видео и конечно же лайк.
you are the best furniture restorer. You have the most beautiful little ribbon sandblaster I've seen on youtube
That’s a very handsome restoration. The shellac finish is a beautiful lustre. Well worth the effort.
Another brilliant job. You do REAL restoration not just a tart up job. Thanks for sharing this true craftsmanship.
The work that went into this table 120 years ago was impressive. Beautiful restoration as usual sir! 😎
I love watching your restorations. I find them therapeutic, so soothing. Thanks.
Another stunning transformation. You do beautiful work!!!
What an Incredible Job Sir! You have turned a ordinary cupboard into a Showroom Piece!
Amazing job. As always you showed great attention to detail. I can't believe you made new feet and repaired the decorations. The shellac really made it pop.
👍👍
I envy your extraordinary, artistic skill. I also envy all of your tools! Such painstaking work. Beautiful!
Anyone who balks at the price of a restored piece of furniture to this level, should be compelled to watch your videos. Have saved this, as I have a bureau with the feet cut off and had no idea how to attach new ones. You taught me that! 🙏 My Italian father and grandfather were brilliant at, not only restoration, but creating furniture. Because I was a girl growing up in the 50's&'60's I was expected to learn how to wash dishes and do housework in preparation for marriage and children. I rebelled and did neither. Thank you for this excellent tutorial.
Another great restoration, like how you dealt with the planks on the top of the unit.
I watch at least one of your videos every day. It is such a pleasure to watch your skills and experience, and to give new life to things is such a noble task. Thank you for sharing!
One of my favorites-masterfully done. The lines and contrasting paint/stain work is so handsome to begin with, and your faithful restoration makes this a very special piece. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love that you don't chalk paint everything. the color of the wood is a beautiful.
You do gorgeous work! I have 2 small dressers from childhood, an oak wash stand and a possible tiger oak serpentine dresser. Both have layers and layers of paint (not my fault ;-P) but I love how you used black for accents. As I refinish the dressers, I will keep your color palette in mind. Thank you and much love from Oklahoma!
Mate, you are insanely talented. Very inspirational!
I just shake my head whenever I see the finished piece. It’s amazing how you are able to repair and refurbish this chest of drawers! Perfect! ✌🏼♥️
Very nicely done with a high level of skill.
I always watch your videos very late at night before bed because they are so relaxing, and so very satisfying. The evolution, especially on this particular piece was stunning. I was mesmerized, especially when you were recreating the chewed up leg piece, and was sad when it ended. Wished it went on and on. Your craftsmanship and expertise is off the charts, and I'm so glad you share your talents with us. Thank you!
Your workmanship is astounding....I am mesmerized watching!
Those gorgeous drawer pulls! This is gonna be a masterpiece! It is indeed a work of art!
What a STUNNING piece!!! You definitely brought this beauty back for another lifetime❤❤❤❤
This was a beautiful piece to restore. I'm so glad you did!!
I love it. Whoever this belongs to will love it. Love the black accents. The birch is lovely in the color chosen. What I love best is the hardware. So glad all the pieces were there.
It is amazing what you did with this dresser. You are a real artist. Thank you for this beautiful video.
Birch never looked so good, a beautiful piece of work my friend
This was the coolest dresser restoration I have seen so far. You pay so much attention to all the fine details. Great job!
Beautiful job. Thank you for vacuuming first.
I have been trying to learn from you and it is a pleasure to watch over again your careful work. Amazing! Thank you
I love the sound the yellow handled brush makes... That's also one very smart looking chest of drawers, well done
Most amazing restoration ever!! Your attention and patience to the detail is truly inspiring!!
bravo - you finally got your twin to help
That looks fantastic, great work!
Watching your apply the shellac reminded me so much of my grandfather teaching me to French polish. You must love wood like him because you want it to be seen at its best. Thank you for bringing back some lovely memories. Oh and that dresser is just beautiful. You worked your magic.
Another well done restoration, love when you create new details.
love to watch your videos, your work is some if not the best i have seen.
I don't know much about carpentry, but the quality is admirable, you are very good, beautiful restoration!!!
Love watching your whole process. This turned out stunning!
Awesome JOB! Loved every minute of it. And NO MUSIC! Thanks for that
Adoraria saber trabalhar assim. É um talento!

Tenho acompanhado alguns vídeos e vejo que é um trabalho minucioso, e há mtos detalhes a serem restaurados por isso tem que ser mto detalhista! Parabéns deve ser uma terapia trabalhar com isso! Abraços aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷❤️.
Now that is absolutely beautiful. The way you applied the black took great skill.
Seu trabalho é incrível. Parabéns 👏👏🇧🇷
☺☺☺👍
Gorgeous. You're saving a piece of history.
What a beautiful old dresser! Curiously, this design was once very common in Brazil, but in mid 50s. Both my grandmothers had furniture based on this style, which is referred as "french provencal" here. Really nice to see you great restoration job, as always!
The French provincial of the 1950’s was a reproduction of earlier styles
Your sense of humor and craftsman skills make your work such fun to watch. This piece is gorgeous. The hardware 🤩!
That is an elegant piece with a very pretty patina. You have enhanced its beauty significantly
Yeah!!!! I love how you bring em back to life, from fire wood to funtional art, Bravo
