In this video I will show how to replace and repair veneered details.

Title: I Restored a VIOLATED Coffee Table
#restoration #howto #furniturerestoration
I really learned something today… the different sanding methods you demonstrated are invaluable. No other channel ever demonstrates them. I had to rewind and watch them over 3 times, but now I really understand it. I’m wondering if I could use both rear legs at the same time? Great fun! You made my day!
🙃
Maybe if you're sitting down and using two sanders.
Or you attain master level: 5 sanders at once

They really should make skate sanders that you attach to your feet for larger jobs. The extra pressure from your weight would mean you could use a finer grit.
This table arrived well packaged and on time. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!
I think that technique of sanding with your foot was the key to the success of this whole project. Genius.
Thank you for demonstrating the different sanding methods. I've always wanted to try the "rear leg", but would end up in the hospital at my age 🥴

You could teach a masterclass on stain matching. Always so impressed by your work.
I also love the humor!
13 minutes and 16 seconds of bliss, fun, great learning and humor.
Another generous gift!! Thank you so much.
I am so thankful you decided to record what you do. The care and knowledge you put into every project shown is incredible. It looked gorgeous at the end. Thank you very much!
Watched while drinking my morning cup of coffee. Almost spit it out when the rear leg sanding technique came on! Thanks for my morning laugh! Love your videos.
Did y’all hear that? A sigh of relief and anticipation from this poor old table? So glad to finally be in the hands of a master. A very happy beautiful piece again. Thank you kind sir. Totally awesome!
You had me rolling with the rear leg!
I don’t know Ahti, I don’t think you’re normal at all. You are quite extraordinary in your craftsmanship. Your skills and talent never cease to amaze me. Another excellent job! Thanks for sharing with us.
Maybe there's something in the air of Estonia which causes the stains to match? So glad Finland and Sweden are now in NATO.
I loved the “rear leg” as if humans had front legs lol 🤗
One of the things that amazes me about your work, is that I truly can’t see the repairs. You’re better at that than almost anyone else I’ve found. Great job!🐝❤️🤗
Thomas Johnson from Thomas Johnson Antique Furniture Restoration also doas a great job of stain matching and restorations in general
@@gianlucawille579 Yes he does, I watch him too and they work a lot alike, don’t you think?🐝❤️🤗
Jeszcze nie poznałeś renowatorów z Polski😀🤗,!
When you first started I thought, why bother with that thing?
Well, you showed me by turning it into a really nice-looking piece of furniture.
Beautiful job! Thanks!
Your humor is irresistible! Bravo! Another piece saved from the landfill.
OMG... Had to pause and comment...I was still LOLing over the "different sanding styles" up till the ironing of the veneer 😂🤣😂... funniest thing I've seen in a LONG time ... kudos and thanks for the much needed humor...now back to the video!
You make everything look pretty effortless, this is the sign of true mastery. I also love your sense of humour 👍🏻😉
I'm learning to sand and my style is definitely Freestyle. The sanding machine is stronger than I. I loved the detail of the wood grain on the top of the table. Beautiful
A new Olympic sport is created - freestyle sanding, perhaps a sub-sanding medal could be awarded to non-mechanical methods. The veneer on the top of the table looked lovely. Thank you for sharing and for your humour.
Rear leg. Free style 🤣🤣👍🏻 Always good episodes. Thanks
It amazes me how you match the stain on new wood to the old. Great job! I love your sanding methods. I never thought of them when I felt like my arm would fall off. Thanks for the chuckles.
Great result on this table. I really like your work to let old furniture look as they were brand new. 👍 Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪🇺🇦
Outstanding restoration, as usually. Compliments from Odessa.
Violated but now ameliorated! Love the veneer pattern.
Ameliorated- such a beautiful word!
The most difficult part for me is matching the colors if the old and new. This is where the skill and experience shows.
"Rear leg style." 🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful restoration and another great video!
Well done, Ahti! Beautiful job. Such care and attention to detail.
Also, I love your goofy side! The sanding "techniques" were hilarious! 😆
It looks like new!!! Aannd,I learned some new sanding techniques!! ❤️🤣
Thank you for showing us how beautiful a simple piece of furniture can become in your hands. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That was really amazing- I did no think it possible to restore this table so well and it look so natural! I am also going to try some "rear leg" sanding! 😉
Rear leg? Do you have a front leg, centaur? Laughing and enjoying your artistry.
You are the rock star of furniture restoration. Turning every worn out, misused, and neglected item into a masterpiece.
Oh wow, what a great result!
For me the next best thing in this video is the demonstration of different sanding styles 😁
i literally laughed out loud at that
@@davidroosa4561 Me too!
Without saying a word you are so entertaining! Love you videos. The table turned out so beautiful.
С восхищением наблюдаю как Вы даете этим старинным вещам новую жизнь. Удачи во всем!
It is always so good to see someone with this level of expertise in whatever they do. You're awesome
This will be certainly appreciated by a connoisseur of vintage art deco furnishings. I keep a shelf of vintage stripped veneer foro broken furniture too far gone to make repairs on others. It keeps the original feel to it.
I always love taking old and making new again in furniture, cars or buildings.
I like the "footwork"-sanding and the "freestyle"-sanding-intermezzo very much, how funny! This kind of table I´ve seen before in my childhood (western europe). The shiny shellac look from "before" was not thus noble-looking. You turned it into a silky-matt shine, which is impressively worthy-looking. Congratulations for this outcome!
I will never really see the attractiveness of veneer, but you do make it look beautiful. Thanks for the video.
И снова прекрасная работа. Спасибо за удовольствие просмотра!
Magnificent sanding techniques! You are still the best furniture restorer in n UA-cam! I’ve been watching from the earliest videos and I’m still learning something with each project you take on!
You make furniture look way better than new. Bravo and very well done.👏👏👏👏👏
Great work as usual.
Impressive. Love how you match the stain between the existing veneer and the new veneer. It can be difficult.
Beautiful job!
OMG the different sanding styles!!! BRILLIANT!
I’m happy to see your personality is being shared more. 💜
I love woodworking. I wanted to do it, but I’m 5ft, and my little hands just won’t allow for long turns with any equipment. I ended up with carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists after painting a basement. So I’m left to watch, and your channel is the best one! I wouldn’t have bothered with that table, but you have an eye for this. Thanks for such great uploads.
Once again, magician at work. Beautifully done.
"Violated" no more! Wow! You are truly an artist my friend. Thank you for restoring this piece, and the fine work that you do. God bless. Rev. D.
I enjoy watching your restoration videos. It's so relaxing. I giggle at your humor. Beautiful table 😍
this video is hilarious. i love when your subdued yet sharp sense of humor shows through. and of course, i love your work-- the restoration looks beautiful and is entertainingly filmed and edited!!
Always amazed at your ability to match old and new finishes. It's almost...... magical 👍
i love these videos. it may sound strange but i love HEARING the wood being restored... the sanding, the brush against the surface, etc... to me that's an important part of the experience.
Genius restoration!
The different sanding methods were very impressive and outstanding
It's obvious that you really know your craft. Excellent work as usual. 👍
Another stunning transformation. And again, your colour matching skills are superlative. Wish we had such incredible restorers in South Africa 😞
Problem is that we don't have many suppliers of fineer in SA
Great restoration, again! I hope you could show more in detail which brands of stain and shellac you use, and how you prepare them.
Вы большой мастер и у вас золотые руки! Благодарю, что даёте возможность насладиться высшим мастерством!
Some people don't like your work because they say it looks new. I love that you restore things to they original beauty without being too intrusive. Thank you.
I can’t say anything that has not already been said. Thank you for sharing your talent.
As ever absolutely stunning and thanks to you that gorgeous piece of furniture will last another 80 or 90 years if not longer and thank you for all the hard work that you do
Unbelievable. Wow. Love the freestyle sanding 😂😂😂
Прекрасно! На заднем фоне старинный столовый стол, очень хочется увидеть, как Вы вернëте его к жизни
Love the way you laid the wood grain. 💕♥️💕
You did a great job matching the old and new woods on this one. Very nice.
Very nice transformation indeed!! I especially liked the different sanding techniques!! Lol
Beautiful, beautiful piece!! Well done as always!!!❤️
I love the work you do on restoring these awesome furniture pieces. Every one you work on is a masterpiece. Well done sir!
Thanks, as always for your artistry & mastery working with wood to restore or build. And a special thank you for a much needed laugh.
Well Ahte, you have done it again. Marvelous work, although freestyle sanding would be far too radical for me to attempt. Ever. Love your videos, I could watch them all day long.❤❤❤ Oh yes, the humor is a delight.
Ah-new technology: leg sanding! 😃. A masterful job with that veneer! It’s now a beautiful piece of furniture. ⭐️
Oh my gosh, make MY weekend! Thanks! What a great restoration, I loved all the veneer fixes, how cool.
::snicker:: And the 'different sanding styles' was pretty awesome.
Thank you again for posting, I love seeing at master at work!
Fantastic! I had only seen rubber cement act as a glue. Whatever you used, I forgot, using the iron to seal the glue worked great. Beautiful color. Thanks so much for sharing. Be safe.
Such beautiful work… you are truly an artist!
what can one say excellence . what a star you make it look so effortless .
The sanding part LOL love it!!
Thank you for showing us the new sanding styles, very helpful 😉😂😂😂
I want to own everything you refinish. Love your excellent work. Thank you for sharing with us.😊
Comme d'habitude un boulot remarquable.
Vivement la prochaine vidéo.
I had a 1930's Waterfall style bedroom set, complete with headboard, foot board, rails and 2 dressers. You restored this table to it's beautiful glory, but then you always do fabulous work. Such a pleasure watching you. Thank you.
Masterful work! The table looked brand new.
Ahti, beautiful table restoration. Thank you for sharing your talents and techniques. 🌺
I love watching you bring a poor, neglected piece back to beautiful life.
Such a glorious little table after it's spa day.
Love watching your videos. Your charismatic personality charms all the time. Making learning more fun xx
I love your sense of humor and you do a great job. Thank you
What a great video. I learn so much from these and they're so relaxing and enjoyable. Great job.
After a long day this was relaxing. Regards from Istanbul. Thank you.
“Different sanding styles”… and I laughed hard!! Well played!!
Спасибо за красоту,которую Вы делаете! У Вас золотые руки
🤣 I love your different sanding methods 🤣
I enjoy seeing how beautiful each of your pieces turn out. I look forward to your next piece.
Another Beautiful restoration... Stunning!!!
Different sanding styles were amazing 😂
Love the free style sanding😅
I watch whole bunch of restoration videos of all sorts, from tracktors, old guns, and wristwatches. Most of them look amateur next to you sir. Hat off. This is almost magic.
Well done, keeping another beautiful item from the burn pile.
You did an outstanding job on this table. It is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for sharing this video.
You have taught me so much.
Incredible workmanship once again!
