    In the uk!!, I was told to setup all the nodes in the same room as they learn from each other!

    I have just seen the new Velop Pro 6E - but I have no idea where it fits in the linksys range? Is it better than the Atlas Max? I cant find any good comparison info - a comparison video would be great!

    Thanks. Very helpful. I assume you have to turn them "on" underneath when they are plugged in

    Do you know how to set it up where they each extend my current fiber company router wifi? I have thick walls in my home and i originally thought i could set up these 2 nodes wirelessly connected to my main router so they both extend more wifi signal but i guess it seems 1 of them has to be connected to the main router via ethernet and the 2nd one becomes an extra node only?

    IM waiting for update video, I currently tested our orbi I didn't like due to not being able to pick what channel my devices connected to, and now im testing Asus zenwifi ax is not a bad system so far. I would like to purchse Linksys Velop 6E but I hear they have random disconnection issues. Please keep us updated with a new video.

      You heard right. I ended up separating the bands to stay connected on the 2.4GHz band. The 5GHz band has random slowness and disconnects. I'm waiting for Linksys to come out with an update. Also, this is happening on all of my devices. Apple, Android, and Windows, and Mac devices. So for right now, you probably want to hold off. I know Linksys will fix this, but for now, I'm waiting and only working on the 2.4Ghz band or plugged in via ethernet. Ethernet works well! :)

      @@sneakerdruggie9502 UPDATE!! My 2 Asus laptops have the Intel Wifi AX 201 cards in them. They just released an update (22.100.1) that has solved the disconnect issues on my two Asus laptops. It's still not very fast, and my other devices are still having problems, but I can say that Intel released an update, and my WiFi on 5GHz has been connected for 15 hours and 45 minutes with no disconnect. But the speed is only about 300-400 Mbps. Before, it would at least connect initially at 1.2Gbps with this card. At least this is progress.

    • @itgroup
      @itgroup  2 роки тому

      This also makes me wonder if Linksys is using some new standard that my cards in my devices aren't correctly using. Being on an 802.11AX connection, I would expect things to be faster, but they are not.

      Be on the lookout... I have an update video coming that is going to be very interesting... I've been working with Linksys for the past 4 days, and today, I discovered something that I believe fixed my issue or at least patched it up... Stay tuned!

    How do you feel about it using the 6Ghz band as the backhaul? For the investment, doesn't that rob you of the full 6Ghz potential for those devices. I'm deciding between this Linksys and the Orbi AXE 11000 wifi 6E

    • @DrMacintosh
      @DrMacintosh Рік тому +2

      This is an old comment, but that backhaul is going to be used only if you don't hardware the nodes together. Using 6GHz as the backhaul for wireless connections makes the most sense because the 6GHz band isn't used by anything and most consumer devices do not actually support 6GHz. Putting the backhaul on 6GHz makes sure your network is even more stable.

    Hi. Can you tell Us about the firewall, behind the velop? How can I do the same? What is the price?

    • @itgroup
      @itgroup  Рік тому

      The firewall that I am using on my network is Untangle, which is now owned by Arista, you can check it out. There is a free version you can use that is pretty full featured, but I use the paid version for myself. I am a Untangle partner/dealer and I would be happy to assist you with setting up a paid subscription, but thats not necessary.

    I saw your comment stating that you run these in bridge mode to basically function as extenders.
    I can't find a way to do this as my Linksys setup app asks for PPP user & password and is trying to set it up as a router. I'm not sure how to proceed in order to basically use this unit (and 1 additional) as wifi extenders for the time being. Can you offer a suggestion? Thanks for your video!

    • @itgroup
      @itgroup  Рік тому

      Well I have a firewall that sits between my internet router and my Wi-Fi. I specifically now use OPNsense and you can configure opnsense to use ppp when connecting to your internet router on the 1st ethernet interface, then sit the linksys on the 2nd ethernet interface. With ppp configured correctly on opnsense everything should work.
      Can I also ask, why are you wanting your linksys to be in bridge mode?

    Can you do a video walking through the software and it's capabilities? I'm interested in seeing if it supports VPN (server and client mode), if you can access it via web browser, bind a client to one AP, etc. Essentially I want to ensure it's not the Apple of Wifi routers before I spend $799.99. Also, I just subscribed 😄

    • @itgroup
      @itgroup  2 роки тому +1

      To be fair, I run my wifi system in bridge mode because I have a much better firewall and router sitting behind the wifi. With Linksys, once you put it in bridge mode, it essentially shuts down all the options inside of it.
      I can tell you that the Linksys will pass thru VPN but does not support being able to VPN into the wi-fi router itself. I regularly use VPN service for my clients, which works with no issues, but that's going from an internal machine to my client's VPN server.
      You can connect to it via the web browser. You enter the local IP address of any mesh access points, and you will be presented with a screen asking you to download the app, but it will still allow you to sign in and use the web interface. Honestly, I've always liked their web interface more than the app itself. You get a few more options from the website vs. the app.
      Binding a client to one AP, you cannot set specifically. I would prefer that myself if I could do that. You can select a couple of options like client steering or node steering. Those are turned on by default. The mesh system uses client steering to try and direct a wifi client to the closest AP, but only if the client supports that feature. The mesh router uses node steering to determine if a node would connect better to another node and if so, would steer the node AP to that node.
      All in all, I wish Linksys would have more advanced options for users like yourself and myself where we could have more access to certain functions. I miss my ASUS router that I used about five years ago. It had every feature I ever wanted.
      Thanks for the sub!! :) I appreciate that. I would have done a video, but because those features are turned off when I am in bridged mode, I can't even get into the options anymore to show what it could do. They are hidden and/or unclickable even on the web portal. Otherwise, I would have been happy to do a video showing off the software. I can tell you that it's the same software from the wifi 5 velop mesh Linksys product, so if you find a video for that, it is the same thing. I hope this reply though helps answer your questions. If you have any more, please shoot them my way!

      @@itgroup Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate the insight. It sounds like the software features are too limited for what I need. Will have to stick with Asus for now.

    Did you have to do any configuration to your modem when you hooked up your wifi mesh?

    • @itgroup
      @itgroup  Рік тому

      I have an untangle firewall that sites in the middle between the ISPs modem and the linksys velop. Since I am running this firewall and it's an advanced firewall, i use bridge mode on the velop which means it basically just passes the traffic through and I can set my static IP address directly on my firewall instead of using my ISPs static IP address on the modem or the velop.

    Were you able to connect this new Atlas with version 1 devices?

    • @itgroup
      @itgroup  Рік тому

      I only have connected the three nodes that this comes with together. I haven't tried to connect anything else. I do remember reading though that the old linksys velop mesh system will not connect to these. They are not compatible, because of this, i am willing to bet that trying to hook up something other than this model will not work.
