WWF LEGENDS is a complete modification of the beloved Nintendo 64 video game "WWF No Mercy" originally released in 2000 and widely regarded as one of - if not the best professional wrestling simulation ever created. The AKI (now Syn Sophia) Development team were able to take the colorful and unique world of professional wrestling and lovingly port it directly into their multiple titles for the Playstation and Nintendo 64 throughout the late 90s/early 2000s culminating in this game, the final release of its kind. Because of its reputation as the "gold standard" in pro-wrestling gaming, and made stronger by the sudden stop in production, wrestling and video game fans alike have longed for more of the signature action and quirkiness AKI games provided.
By that same token, the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) was king of the world of professional wrestling in the mid-80s well into the 90s. Dubbed the "Golden Era," the colorful characters, legendary performances, pop-culture crossover success and indelible childhood memories created in this time period has left a generation of fans clamoring for a way to relive the glory days of the WWF.
WWF LEGENDS aims to fill both of these voids and appeal to multiple generations by updating and evolving the AKI game engine while capturing the essence of the World Wrestling Federation's golden age. The marriage of these two worlds almost serves as a spiritual successor to "WWF WrestleFest" - the classic arcade title that fans of the era will certainly remember. This is all made possible through emulation - WWF LEGENDS runs on Project64, an emulator available for your PC. A variety of other tools help create the immersive experience including custom music, match commentary & more.
The LEGENDS team has been working toward its goal since 2006 - over a decade of texturing, hacking, brainstorming and implementing the many changes that make WWF LEGENDS feel like a whole new video game - one that is most certainly a labor of love for the dedicated team. The journey toward the ultimate WWF experience rages on as the team makes big plans to release the third major update - "WWF LEGENDS: Challenge 64" in 2023.
Please enjoy this trip back to a time when the WWF was "what the world was watching" and larger-than-life heros and villains captured the hearts and minds of people young and old.

That era was gold indeed! Hulk Hogan, André the Giant, Ultimate Warrior, Cyndi Lauper!!! The colors, the attitude, the charisma, everything was like a living piece of art! By the way, first time that I see a mod for an N64 game! It was a surprise 😮

I was pretty excited about this seeing the thumbnail, I hadn't heard of this before and while I'm not a big wrestling fan I always have nostalgia for the Ultimate Warrior era when I was really little. I'm not sure why this romhack is so complex though. Normally I just need to patch an ips file or something. I've certainly never seen one that requires Project64 in such a steep capacity.
That's my favourite era too. Oh this hack is more comprehensive than most, it's uses a number of additional assets that are probably extensive than using an ips. Definetly worth giving a try though. It's very easy to setup.
Ok so I did all this but struggling with the controller configuration. Everytime I click a box it deletes what's inside and says something like, 'x config' or something and doesn't let me do anything. Like I can't assign a button can you do a vid on that?
Also it gets to the Exhibition menu and freezes with controller

This was super helpful and I was able to get it going on the first try, but like others, can’t get esc to close out full screen. Minor gripe aside, I couldn’t dream up a better game.

WCW/NWO Revenge is always my all time wrestling game, but WOW! This mod is pure perfection. The commentary is 🔥 No other wrestling games can ever match the AKI engine productions, if only modern wrestling games adapted to this engine

how do i fix the "cannot open a ROM because plugins have not been successfully initialized"? i have them set as you do in the vid but still get this message

When I open Project64, I also have a rom called "New Arenas Rom.z64" what is that for?

i am using a ps4 controller that is plugged into my computer to play and for some reason when i am navigating the game getting my matches set up....other gray boxes keep popping up onto my screen like something else is being clicked in the background by my controller. do you know how to fix this for good? the game also sometimes freezes or crashes...i'd say about 15% of the time. any ideas?
Have you tried remapping the controller buttons in project64? I'm guessing that might be the issue possibly

I imagine it would be a similar process on the ROG Ally as it's also Windows ...not sure about Linux, I've not tried it

I've followed two different tutorials now and can't get this to work, game just freezes on launch after pressing start, and the textures folder in the actual directory has nothing in it.
Delete everything. Start from scratch. Follow this guide slowly and exactly. It should work.

I've tried redownloading, reinstalling, i spent a good few hours trying over and over I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong i'm sure its like one thing somewhere but idk what.
Hi.. is this possible to put on laptop? If so what kind? Thinking about getting one during black Friday. One I can hook to my big flat screen TV.
I personally use a Ryzen 7 + RTX2060 and it runs fine. But get something better if possible, just for longevity's sake.

It's not that easy. Some of us are new to this. You skipped the part where you need an emulator. I've got the folders but now having trouble getting it to work with project64 emulator.
Every file you need is in the 2 downloads shown in the video.
The emulator is project 64. Which is mentioned in the video
