    Ernie;
    Great collection of Winton memories. I seem to remember you from way back your name certainly rings a bell. I was at Westwood Park School from about 1951 to 1957, then Winton Senior for 2 years before getting a scholarship to Worsley Tech College. I lived in Anson Street , off Parrin Lane.
    I left UK in 1972 to work on a large construction project in Sydney Australia - 2 year appointment , but fell in love with Australia and returned here in 1975.
    Sadly so much of Winton , Monton etc seemed to have deteriorated over the years , but now signs of a "re birth "- especially Monton Road and its restaurants etc.
    I only have a couple of old friends and relatives remaining in the area - especially old Scouting friends , many who have , sadly passed away.
    I used to visit my remaining family quite often on business trips to UK 2000 - 2014 , but now in retirement I don't get to go back very often.
    Best wishes
    David Chadwick

      Yes indeed, The name Chadwick was well known to the Mills' We lived at 5 Vaughan St. until I left in 1964, I went to South Africa, got married to my Boothstown sweetheart in Jo'Burg. went back to the UK, Left again for Ottawa, Canada in 1969. Laid off then moved down to Elmsford, New York in 1978. Worked at NY Sate Dept of Health in Albany, NY. Retired in 2007 to the desert in Arizona and am still here. My years of internment at Westwood Park and Winton Senior are the same as yours except I stayed until 1957 at Winton Senior. My Dad got me into Metro-Vicks Apprenticeship school where I stayed for 6 years. It served me well throughout my life as I was always in work. My Dad was right. :-) My grandparents etc. lived at #4 Anson St. I often thing of the old days with fondness. I realize that memories are not there anymore. Things have changed so much; I am thankful for the opportunity to have been brought up in that Winton mentality. I miss it. Unlike you I wish in some respects I had never left Blighty.
      I am 81 now and in and out of medical problems. I love doing Marquetry. Take a look at my hobby web site at www.marquetrymagic.com also I notice you are not on the Alumni list on my Winton Web Site; Can I add you?
      Let you go although there are loads of things to yak about yet. :-)
      Any Wintonians that need going on my Memorial Page? I would appreciate a list.
      Mum and Dad passed, my oldest sister Eileen and then Betty both passed that leaves just my youngest sister Denise and me.
      Hope to hear from you soon. Ernie

    At 8.02 in the Original Brown Cow shot,the photo is listed as the early 60s but beyond the Mk 1 Cortina is a Mk4 Ford Zephyr,not launched until April 1966! Judging by it's deplorable condition I doubt the Mini would have been long for this world. Love the vid.

    The photo of St Gabriel's School. Isn't that St Patrick's? The original buildings before they rebuilt it round about 2010.

    It really is spooky for me to know that my great grandmother (Ann Bretnall nee Wardlow-Wovenden) is actually on the image of VE Day King William St., but I just can not pin point her😶‍🌫 :(
