I've had one of these monitors for a few years, and now the backlights are starting to fail. I'm going to try to replace them. Thanks for showing some of the disassembly of yours.
wow thank you so much for this video - my preordered x27 from mid 2018 turns off when my room gets too cold. I've been having to use a heat gun to warm it up and reflow it in-situ and/or keep it on 24/7 with a full white screen. The engineering menu that allows me to see the gsync temp is awesome!
Thank you ! I have the same monitor and it's louder than my PC at full charge. I'm gonna use the same fan as you and try to change the thermal paste. (NH1) Thank you for your time and patience ! You helped me a lot !
Appreciate the fact that you taught me how to take out the back panel. The unfortunate part is that I need to know why my monitor does not have any power
power's is more serious, you may have a broken power brick or a power controller. The only way is to bring the monitor to a specialized service so they can locate the problem and then you can order a replacement part on ebay
my x27 is/was stuck in this "off" state, I noticed upon power cycling sometimes the blue LED would come on but the screen would not. Further inspection, i would see 2 leds on the gsync board while looking from the top down. There's a red and a green led that denote some sort of temp/power status that is visible. I found that during this power cycling and when the blue led on the front would come on - the red led would stay on and the green one would blink. Taking my heat gun and warming it up, made the green led go solid and then my monitor turned on.
I have the same monitor and my fan died today.. This video and effort you made to repair it is simply amazing.. Learned so much how to repair it.. Btw. ACER support told me with cold face that they not longer support the monitor witth spare parts. I asked them to send the spare part /23.tbam2.002 - the fan modul/ for this monitor and the told me they not longer have any to sell me and asked to rather a buy a new monitor...F.ckers..I will repair like you did..thank you very much..Really really great job..
Well, that's definitely sad especially considering how much this monitor costed, and it isn't even that old... I really want to avoid Acer in the future once I will have to replace this monitor.
What a video, was looking for solution of my aw3423dw fan noise and found this video, the amount of effort you put in fixing crap stock fan is amazing. Sad I didn't see this video before purchasing a monitor with g-sync ultimate with fan, if only I knew how ASTONISHINGLY noisy the stock fan is I would never buy it.
Ok I did all this it's much easier to open up the case if you start from the bottom use a hard card and evenly open slowly, like slowly little left then a little right that way you don't damage the case when opening you should also have some more electrical tape and whatever the metal tape is called you can pick up at home Depot fairly simple as for the mounting of the heat sync you can do that and a noctua fan if you use raised bolts for the monitor stand such as the bolts that are used for lga 2011 they fit and they give an extra 1 cm which is more than enough
I thought the quite extreme noise was normal. (the monitor is louder than my pc AT 50NITS!! wtf acer) I almost pulled the trigger on Noise cancelling headphones! Thank you so much.
community.acer.com/en/discussion/304854/acer-xb280hk-in-burn-in-mode-after-calibration this thread is helpful. OD corresponds to Overdrive in the menu. Off = 0, Normal - 100, Extreme = 255
I got 2x monitors (boh pred x27), same manufacture month / year, so they should be equal, for some reason, while doing nothing, having the same settings, one of these monitors have the fans ramped up.
@@AndresReviews maybe, i suspect it might be a gsync or somethin'. it only happens on displayport and it happens immediately, so i doubt it is heat buildup. maybe ill tear it down and take a look inside.
@@AndresReviews I'll open it up during the weekend, busy rn. I'll re-paste it with some extra paste i have, hopefully that will fix it for now. I'll let you know how it goes, the situation is ubearable. I dont mind the loudness when gaming, but during normal desktop use its very noticable
Do you have the specific panel number? A backlight in my monitor died so I was looking to replace the panel. Online I see M270QAN02.? but can’t find a good answer for what that last digit should be
@@danielkrasnopoias1418 GSync is technically always on unless outright disabled. Monitors are generally designed to operate at temps of up to 85c with max temps around 100c before damage. But if you clean the fan from dust and maybe re-paste the temps will be around 60C. Try to remove all the dust and re-check the temps.
true, it is very hard, try a guitar pick (aka plectrum). Using a credit card won't work, I broke a few credit cards, but a guitar pick worked well. I also used a knife, but don't recommend it as you can damage the screen.
I think that is totally possible, but definitely requires lots of work with customizing mounting brackets, typical CPU/chipset mounting kits won't work, need a custom mounting plate and workshop capability to produce one. Additional potential problem could be the firmware. It may happen so that if you remove the fan and firmware sees there is no fan running it may error out, needs to be tested.

! The lengths you went to solve this bit of noise :) :) Very brave

Yep, monitor fans are never a good idea, thanks for the comment ;)
Почему так мало просмотров??? Это единственное видео на весь интернет по обзору на этот монитор! Молодец, так держать!
спасибо, монитор уже довольно стар, мало кто интересуется
Nice video! I have an Acer Predator X27 P and I have owned it for almost 3 years so I'm worried that the fan is going to need replacing soon.
I distinctively remember reading when this monitor launched that the overclock to 144hz makes colors worse, but take that with a grain of salt.
You're a f*cking hero for uploading this! But could I ask if the VHB Tape worked long term?
Thanks
Yep, still holds it, attached once and still firm with zero issues
Amazing video, you are the best man ❤️
still recommend this monitor, or too much work :O?

For me deep sleep turned the fan off when the monitor was turned off.
Liked and subbed, saved me $1k for a repair from Acer!
Hello. Tell me, if you disable G-SYNC in the settings, will the fan stop working?
no, the fan is always on
wow, great content! i might try to replicate this but might fail lol
Oke men😊😊
What does burn in and OD (overdrive??) do?
Edit: Might as well just ask what do all the settings do, since I only know half of them

the g-sync is sitting at 75*-74*C on idle, 300nits brightness, no overdrive only 120hz, so perhaps i do need to clean it.
75 is way too high, it may also be a dried out thermal paste

How do u check the monitors temp?
scroll to 20:10
@@AndresPlayDay Thanks i just did what you did, Do you no the max temp for the gsync core? mines at 70 on desktop not gaming

What does fan duty do?
it's 99 on mine.
amount of power the fan gets, 99 is maximum,, looks like your radiator is dusty, better to clean it properly

What do you think about a water block and literally drilling through the solid mount to route them?
