I'm currently participating in preparing a book of edited documents made during early phase of polish-bolshevik war. Plenty of them are about the Germans in Lithuania and Latvia. That part of Europe in early 1919 was truly in a turmoil and divided by Polish, Germans, Lithuanans, Latvians and bolsheviks. Due to the number of nationalities and divisions among politicians (and regular people) there were definitely more hostilities than needed.
4 years later, as a lithuanian, I'm very interested in the status of your (your colleagues) book. Is it available to purchase? Indeed, the first post WW1 years were absolute chaos in eastern Europe. Bolshevics smelling blood and trying to push westwards, polish with their ambitions of a young state (not counting in the Commonwealth years), Baltic states just trying to survive and defend our fresh independence... there were so much scenarios that could've happened. As a last note, I wish you the best, even if you cancelled the book or not. It is enough that someone actually looks into our history, despite us easterners being thrown out as "irrelevant" and "non-worthy historically" people.

May Germans again become the greatest and the noblest nation on earth - like they were before WW1 was forced onto them! And may Germany remember the agreement that was signed between the rebel Boers (who fought along with the German forces against the British) and the Kaiser's representative in the old Deutsch-West Afrika in 1914... Greetings, from a Boer in South Africa. :)
@Pöbel-Ralle same old; much corruption, inaptitude, nepotism, rape, murder, etc. Mismanagement and Black Economic Epowerment (a race-based policy that keeps white people economically marginalized to a great extent) - have ruined all the great corporations that were built and successfully maintained by the white people. We are now a 3rd world country - where once we were the envy of the world.
WW1 was not forced upon Germany, AH got a "yeah gotcha fam" pass from Germany and went ballsy. It could be traced deeper into Serbia and Russia but that's not the point. Germany would not have to deal with that all.

Rest in peace, all Germans died for their Fatherland, regardless of regimes, governments, cruel or not, Nazi or not, which world war... They all tried to serve their Fatherland.
apparently, the song is from the 1920s during the Russian revolution, german soldiers from the baltic regions fighting in the Baltic regions, their final tribute to their homeland is to carry their flag to their homeland (I don't remember if it was to bring the flag to Germany, a baltic country, or Russia.
Look up the 'Baltisches Landeswehr'. Just after WW1, even though the German Empire collapsed and Poland, France, and all the other countries were taking territory, the Germans and the Germany army in the east fought on until late 1919, taking control of much of Latvia and western Lithuania but ended up fighting everyone around them- Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poles and the communists. They trudged their way home in mid-1919. Thats why they're so sad I'd say in all of their songs- they want to be part of Germany but they have ended up fighting everyone and they are slowly and bloodily trying to return to Germany.

schönes lied!
Lasst uns den gefallenden Soldaten gedenken😞
one of those was my great-great-grandfather who spent all 4 years and then died ad amiens in 1918 he was german
Beautifully melancholic song
The history of the German Baltic East is very similar to the Italian Adriatic one. Same feelings, same sorrow 🇮🇹🇩🇪
I’m learning German and I can pronounce the words, it’s fun looking at German song lyrics and sing them
❤
As soon as the first notes hit, it send the chills all through your body. Beautiful, dark, sad, powerfull all at the same time.
Thank you Dr.Ludwig, i don't know how i've missed this recording, but it's by far the best in my opinion.
Schau nochmal in 2 Tagen vorbei, du wirst überrascht werden^^
I listen to this and mourn the millions of my German brothers who gave their lives for their families and Fatherland on both Eastern fronts.
I listen to this music every day
I like it a lot.
Thats Cool, but the Song isnt about the WW1 or the WW2
This is what German knights sang in the Middle Ages
@@Christopher-uo5cf it’s about ww1
@@willemvanstaden3292 i wish our country could be what it was before the corruption. :( without the aparthied though.
The cavalryman makes me think of my Opa, he served on the Eastern Front during WWI in the cavalry.
Amazing song! I like it very much. I will use it in my videos.

I love this song
Very nice, one of my favourite songs
i am slav (slovakia) amd i am not in love with germany , but this is wonderful. That guitar sounds great, his voice is great, melody is unbelievable and lyrics is so powerful. This is truly wonderfull

Notice how they didn’t antagonize their enemies. War was a more valiant thing back then even whilst torturing each other,
Man this is basically a lullaby it’s a poem with sad connotations about soldiers wanting to go home and softly sung plus it’s in German perfect lullaby
I think I have an addiction to this song
Beautiful
And so it happens again fine.. my grandparents fought in the war.. I am ready
Wundervoll
It's just so beautiful... I am so moved it does actually bring me to tears
I cannot say why but there it is
That's what I am
Rest in peace, all Germans died for their Fatherland, regardless of regimes, governments, cruel or not, Nazi or not, which world war... They all tried to serve their Fatherland.
Americans and british supported communist. Now they are crying why america and britain are woke 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
GOD BLESS GERMANY 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
This is my new favorite song
apparently, the song is from the 1920s during the Russian revolution, german soldiers from the baltic regions fighting in the Baltic regions, their final tribute to their homeland is to carry their flag to their homeland (I don't remember if it was to bring the flag to Germany, a baltic country, or Russia.
Thats why they're so sad I'd say in all of their songs- they want to be part of Germany but they have ended up fighting everyone and they are slowly and bloodily trying to return to Germany.

for some reason this version is just better to me than the other version maybe it's the picture maybe the more depressing atmosphere but for some reason i think this is the best version. edit: cool i got a heart edit2: i lost my heart uncool
