I read in one of books that when the time of signing the Treaty of Versailles that one of the members (I don't know which country) said when he saw the terms of surrender: "The Germans can be your best friend, but if you decide to treat them as an enemy, I promise they will not disappoint you."
The people, the army, and Germany are among the most honorable and bravest of European and Western peoples. They are honest and courageous people and people of generosity, pride and loftiness. They were falsely wronged in the first and second wars by haters of the great German nation. Despite the destruction of Germany in that era, the great German nation rises from among the rubble to prove to the world that it is a nation that does not know despair.
@Moritz P. But that has nothing to do with his point. Sure it was horrible, but it isn't the subject of this converstion. His point is about german culture being forgotten overall
As a Serb i must say that for German soldiers in ww1 i have nothing but respect since when we were attacked from 3 sides Germans even though our enemies treated us with respect and even laid a monument that still stands in Belgrade it says in both German and Serbian "hier ruhen Serbischen helden" or "here rest Serbian heroes" or "овде почивају Српски јунаци".
Germans of course never wanted war back then, it was this Wilhelm II dude because he thought that Germany needs to be on top of the world, but no, Germans actually wanted peace❤️
Well, hello there entente friend from western front UPD: Oh wait, I almost forget me and my parents are from Galicia, back then it belonged to the Austro-Hungary that makes our ancestors enemy. Anyway
Germany after WW1 got unjustifiably way to harsh punished by France in the Versailles Treaty. Even the British and a few Generals of France itself knew that Germany would take one day revenge against the former Entente because of that harsh treaty. But they never expected that a new Dictatorial Germany will rise from the ashes out of nothing with such cruel and such high ambitious goals in so little time that would lead again in such a disasterous war. All that because it wanted revenge.

It wouldn't have been if Turks there weren't a pain in the ass but they try to bring their culture, not Turkish culture but THEIR culture, to the neighbourhood they live in. There are some that actually integrate themselves into German society and I have words for them but there are the others also, so I understand some Germans when they dislike the fact that there are so many minorities popping out.

When ever I listen to these songs I feel great sadness. Especially when listening to world war 2 songs. Millions of men went forward into battle and did not return. And for what? They did not deserve to die out on the steppes of Russia, on the beaches of Normandy, in the French fields, in the deserts of Africa, on the Philippine Isles, or on one of the worlds many oceans. Those men deserved better then to be sent to die hundreds of miles away from loved ones in a field covered in their comrades dismembered limbs. Together we must forge a new generation built on the past, remembering our mistakes so we do not repeat them.
War has one major point its self inducing as ww1 created the stage for ww2 so it goes on the communists tried breaking this but well stalin was not a communist far from it amd stoped anyhope of a new global society and nation
I'm not German, but I heard somewhere that Germany isn't able to celebrate nationally due to the German Empire and The Third Reich being MEGA nationalist countries. My guess is the modern German government doesn't want the same to happen.
I agree. Most of their war songs are quite powerful as opposed to skinny Johnny making people gay and an old march song that is only good for military parades within British soil. But you gotta throw in 'some' Russian ones out there too.

this is quran (78) Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel by the tongue of David and of Jesus, the son of Mary. That was because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed. (79) They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. How wretched was that which they were doing. (80) You see many of them becoming allies of those who disbelieved. How wretched is that which they have put forth for themselves in that Allah has become angry with them, and in the punishment they will abide eternally. (81) And if they had believed in Allah and the Prophet and in what was revealed to him, they would not have taken them as allies; but many of them are defiantly disobedient. (82) You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. This song stands for what the soldier thought about the war on both sides, they felt lost and used as cannonfodder.

Together we must forge a new generation built on the past, remembering our mistakes so we do not repeat them.

xX Xx Alles hat einen Nutzen, auch wenn man es nicht direkt sieht oder versteht. Ob dieser Nutzen nun gut oder böse ist, liegt im Sinne des Betrachters.
17 Millionen Tote erscheinen mir ziemlich nutzlos.
(83) And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.
