  • If you suspect you might have cancer it is always best to just get it checked out! The sooner you find it the better. You don’t want to get to stage four like me. In this video I explain my symptoms and how I was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. If you have been diagnosed with lymphoma or any other type of cancer you might be feeling how I felt during this time.

      This is me right now. Have 3 bumps below my jaw and 4 in various regions of my neck. Honestly tired of waiting just to get diagnose and going to see an ENT specialist tomorrow. Hopefully all is well. 😌

    • @MelanieCamille

      Getting the diagnosis (while not great) can be such a relief! At least you’ll know 1) if you’re fine, or 2) what you need to do to get back to being healthy!

      Thank you for sharing your story. Please share more of the story. Have you heard of medications causing certain types of cancers? Is this type of cancer curable? Can it be found out through blood tests? (or what other way OR is thru MRI's scans only?) Why didn't they put you asleep for the bone marrow biopsy? (is there a reason why they can't?)

    • @MelanieCamille
      @MelanieCamille  5 років тому +2

      I will definitely be sharing more! I am not sure about medications causing cancer. I have heard about some chemos causing other types of cancer. I had two forms of lymphoma. One curable and the other will probably come back

    • @MelanieCamille
      @MelanieCamille  5 років тому +2

      Also I don’t think they can tell from a blood test. I had to do a CT (or PET scan, I can’t remember which but it wasn’t an MRI. I misspoke in the video) and a biopsy

    I had non Hodgkin when I was 42 years old. I had 12 chemos, one session each week. They gave me 6 different chemo drugs, alternating two each week. The good news for you is I am now 76! I pictured Jesus killing the cancer with a pick. I kept my humor thru the 12 weeks. Cancer free for 34 years!!!

    Wow. 22 years ago 3 weeks before my wedding I was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's. I thought the same thing no kids. We cancelled 300 people coming to wedding cause i needed chemo asap. after getting misdiagnosed for 3 months. We got married in church just our families. long story short. 11 months later my huband was diagnosed with hodgkin's lymohoma. I know insane. We saved his sperm in case. waited 5 years to be in remission. genection councelor said not genetic. so was gonna go for invitro. GOT PREGNANT ON OUR OWN 1 Try. then again, and again and 4th was when i was 40. i am 53 now. never lose hope!!!!!!!!

    So nice to have run across your video. I was diagnosed with stage 3 small cell follicular lymphoma Feb, 2017. I appreciate your openness and hearing your experience. I was devastated at first. I decided to go with a clinical trial of rituximab. I am here to tell about it almost four years later. Initially I was wrongly diagnosed with large B cell diffused lymphoma, it was a much more threatening form. I hate to say I was thankful for the misdiagnosis, but the truth is I was. I can not imagine battling both at the same time. God bless you :) I hope you are strong and healthy now.

    For emergency purposes so you know and get despite enough with pain that your willing to throw up... nausea and vomiting is not an allergy.... it’s definitely an aversion though for most. Hives and throat swelling and or trouble breathing etc are allergies. Although uncomfortable... the nausea won’t kill you. True allergies are the symptoms that have the potential to kill you. I get many patients that lost diarrhea even as an allergy.... it’s not... sometimes the drug is more important than unpleasant side affects. Glad everything Has worked out for you. Your strength is amazing and inspiring!! Stay strong gurl!

    I used to work for a head and neck surgeon who operated three days a week and had two days in the office each week. He always gave cancer diagnoses over the phone so you could process all your feelings and get your questions in order before having an appointment with him. He was incredibly busy and a literal miracle worker, he would operate on people who had been told by other doctors there was nothing to do and would end up curing them. He didn’t have time to let people have their reactions in his office...perhaps not the best bedside manner for everyone but if I needed surgery he’s the man I’d go to. Just one persons insight into why some docs give over the phone diagnosis’s.

    • @MelanieCamille
      @MelanieCamille  5 років тому

      Thanks for that insight! Unfortunately I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the case with my oncologist, but I totally see your surgeons point

    • @samevans1289
      @samevans1289 5 років тому +3

      I think most appointments where a serious diagnosis is announced is just that-an announcement.
      You are too shocked and scared to think anything beyond "How bad is it? Am I going to die? What will happen to my loved ones?" to either ask or to take in any information the doctor might tell you. All those things happen in the follow up appointment, when you got to calm down a bit and think about the logistics of how to approach it.

    All MD’s are different. There is no standard for notifications on certain diseases. Some docs will have you come in right away,however due to time sensitivity in starting treatment some docs want you to know as soon as possible and unfortunately that means getting the dreaded phone call at the most inopportune time. My friend got the call about his stage IV cancer while he was at a Red Sox game with his family.

    Thank you so much for this video. I am 31 and I am working on my Bachelor's degree. I was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma on Monday. Like you, I haven't had any of the "classic" symptoms other than a lump (mine is in my tonsil and I have one hard lymph node in my neck), so other than having this big bump, I feel completely fine, so weird. I am desperate to at least finish my semester, but I am starting to worry a lot about being forced to drop out. I haven't been staged yet, but 4 weeks ago, my lymph nodes in my neck were clear on a CT, so hopefully the one that is acting up now is just a response to a pretty invasive tonsil biopsy. I really appreciate your videos, since NHL tends to mostly effect older people, it is good for me to see someone who is about the same age as me who has faced what I am about to face. Peace and Love

    • @Saijana
      @Saijana 5 років тому +1

      Also! So weird you were told over the phone!!! My doctor's office had a temp who kind of messed up and let slip that my doctor got my second CT bumped up a month after seeing my biopsy... so I knew... but he did make a point of clearing an hour of his schedule to break the news face to face and answer my questions.

THEN EDUCATE YOUR PATIENT!! There is a UA-cam doc, which is bizarre, but this is one of those cyst docs, he gives antibiotics, all the time, for just in case... Triggers me too! Blood work for infection and is it even bacterial? Don't take antibiotics guys, insist on facts

    • @MelanieCamille

      You singing my tune! I have refused antibiotics SO many times. Why do docs push the script? NEVER take antibiotics unless you have proof or labs you need them. Turns out I was right every time, never died. 19 years no antibiotics 😊

      Doctors push antibiotics and opioids plus many other drugs like lollipops because the drug companies make it worth their while. Not all doctors, but wayyyy too many. If this is not the case then we have hundreds of thousand of lazy, incompetent, ignorant doctors out there so I still go with my first comment.

    I give you so much credit for having the courage to go through such invasive testing and treatment. 3 months ago I had a lymph node - cyst swell up on my left neck. I have no other symptoms and actually got over shingles a couple of weeks before that. I just got another needle biopsy 2 days ago and am waiting for the pathology report. The first biopsy a month ago came back negative for mastic cells but a second one was ordered to be confident of the results

    Hi Melanie, I’m glad I found your video. I’ve had a lump under my chin for at least two years. It would get smaller and bigger. I mentioned it to my endocrinologist several times and he said the same thing - might be a virus I’m fighting. I went to him because I have hypothyroidism and I have a growing nodule (non cancerous) near my thyroid. I noticed the lump under my chin getting bigger these past few months and my general physician wanted me to get an ultrasound. There is indeed a swollen lymph node about 2-3 cm large. It’s hard to make out the symptoms, whether it’s due to my thyroid or something else. The GP did run my labs and he said my white blood cells look good so he wants to recheck in June and send me to a neck specialist if the lump is still there. Thing is, I know it will still be there. It’s been there for 2 years now. I noticed I’ve had a few rashes spring up near my armpits all the way under my upper arms. I have eczema patches but this is abnormal for me. My usual eczema routine hasn’t helped it for weeks now. I’m at a loss about what to do at this post. If I should just wait or push for an appt with the neck specialist ASAP. It’s scary and people, including family, around me don’t take my concerns seriously.

    Thank you so much for all this information. I’m sorry this happened to you... but it’s so cool that you’re spreading awareness and educating others.
    I started my search online because I’ve been feeling sick, on and off for years. Fatigue, shortness of breath and chest pains, upper back/shoulder pain, bruising, prone to infections...
    And now I’ve lost 13 kg (28 lbs) in 3 months, and I’m fairly petite already.
    I have the same bump on my cheek that doesn’t hurt, but I suspect it’s making my jaw hurt. I also have a bump behind my ear, under my jaw and above my collarbone. I’ve had swollen lymph nodes so bad that my husband woke up and found me on the couch with an ice pack on my face. I’ve had a cold for 3 months now and I’m starting to lose my mind, so I abuse my sleep meds I have for my anxiety. I also take way too much melatonin, but I CANT SLEEP if I don’t.
    My doctor says that my blood is perfect and I’m “too young to be sick”. I’m 25...
    He actually refused to send me to an ENT specialist for the bump on my cheek. He refuses to do a scan. He doesn’t even want me to call anymore because I’ve “bothered his assistants too much”.
    I am completely broken. I really don’t know what to do, if I need to get a second opinion, which tests I should have done.
    If anyone has some advice I would be so grateful...
    Again, THANK you for these videos and I wish you lots of luck and strength. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I did every test possible(colonoscopy,endo,zinc,vitamin D,B12,ANA,celiac, thyroid panel,h pylori,every possible STD) and the only thing that was wrong was unexplained iron deficiency. I got iron infusion because pills didn’t work. Do you remember if you had unexplained iron deficiency? as for the symptoms did you had more symptoms others you’ve mentioned in the video? my first symptom was hair loss from scalp,body,eyelashes,eyebrows,armpit, legs(hundreds every day) ,I was disgnosed with chronic telogen Effluvium, drenching night sweats but not consistently like 7 times a month, extreme fatigue,IBS( do you remember if you had digestive issues? my stomach rumbling no matter what I eat), unexplained weight loss,memory loss, yellow ridged nails(did you notice changes to your nails?), geographic tongue, tingling in feet,back pain and muscles pains and insomnia(like getting up 3 times a night)?? I don’t have any itchying or swollen lymph node(that I’m aware of). my doctor referred me to do a full body CT scan .. I’m a little bit afraid but this past 18 months were pure hell. I just want answers🙏🏻. I’m 27 years old male. Thank you!

I often noticed that my neck swells up a lot and now the swelling hasn’t gone down in three months. I had the flu two months ago even though I got my flu shot and I take vitamin C and multivitamins every day. I had blood work done and it came back as EBV but my lymph nodes are still swollen and it hurts all the way down to my collarbone and I am just tired of feeling like I have not gotten any rest. I haven’t been sick since the flu and these are my only symptoms. What was your blood work like the very first time?

    • @MelanieCamille
      @MelanieCamille  4 роки тому +1

      The blood work showed that I had very low white blood cells and blood platelets. Maybe you can see another doctor for another opinion?

      EBV can wreak havoc on your lymphatic system alone. In fact it can cause so many problems that EBV is known to increase ones chances of getting lymphoma at some point in their life. Not trying to scare you, just make sure you’re aware!
      When you test positive for EBV, you should be sure to have the docs double check your lymph nodes, just to be safe. 😃
      Hope you’re feeling better.

      Thanks. My lymph nodes are still swollen and all of my blood work is still normal. Had an ultrasound done that showed swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. Doctor didn’t have a response for me. Went to the ER with neck pain and the doctor referred me to the the cancer center. I am having at CT done on my neck this coming up week.

    Because I have swollen lymph nodes in my groin and armpits. No night sweats, no fever no fatigue. I did have blood in my stools for about 24 hrs then but not after that to date. No health insurance.

    MRIs don’t have radiation it’s magnetic resonance scanning, CT scans do have radiation though just FYI.

    I can’t believe they were so reluctant to diagnose. They did a Ct scan on me, saw some enlarged lymph nodes, and automatically said, “it’s probably lymphoma.” Turned out to be sarcoidosis.

    • @MelanieCamille
      @MelanieCamille  5 років тому

      OMG! 😮 I’m pretty sure they legally have to know what it is before saying anything. Or at least it’s considered good legal practice. I’ve never heard of a doctor assuming what a diagnosis is

    • @jkpanigel4896
      @jkpanigel4896 5 років тому +1

      Melanie Camille you’d think, right? All my paperwork that summer under diagnosis was “lymphoma.” I think a lot of sarcoidosis patients have this happen. And because of extenuating medical circumstances it took a particularly long time to have a biopsy. So for about 7 weeks it was lymphoma (until it wasn’t).

      @@MelanieCamille Wrong , I was told I had cancer 7 times...and the second to the last time . they said it was advanced Ovarian...4 weeks or so... but they all proved to be wrong, until I had a bad eye and went to the doctor , only to hear I had cancer for the 7th time...this time the biopsy proved it. Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma...of the tear ducts. Stage 4. Went to an Oncologist... very older and cold and told me what he was going to do refused to tell me anything about my condition. Answer my questions and especially refused to hear my opinions... I worked as a Home Health and Hospice CNA for years and drove cancer cases for radiation and Chemo.... for 20 years... I told him I refused Chemo and Immunology....and he got angry. So I left and called the office and told them I was done. I went on Keto diet... no sugar, flours and low carbs, Take CBD oil for any pains. I did 5 months of THC in Rick Simmons form. Hated the feeling . Lost my one eye.... and the other has lost 50+% of vision. Pet Scan shows it did spread in two places... but her I am 4 years later still going strong...GOD told me to be still and know HE is GOD. I did and HE is !! My eye looks bad and they wanted to do radiation on it....a year ago...but then pushed the Chemo and Immunology....again. WE did ask the doctor to allow me to try another doctor and his words were, If she doesn't want me....she can go elsewhere. The problem is the Hospital is less than a mile away, and there are 6 Doctors there...The Radiation Doctor was the one who asked, and she was shocked by his answer. I had warned her. I am 72 and still able to function and do my jobs taking care of my husband, He is 76 and crippled. GOD is amazing and he does care. I think this has been a blessing... I am able to share and enjoy each and every day. So Happy to hear your good news ...hope it all goes well.

    Hi I’ve been having a lot of swelling in my glands in my neck my armpits and my groin did your bumps come and go or did they pretty much stay consistently swollen. My doctor has told me that I have fibromyalgia. Did just do an ultrasound today and said it was negative even though my lymph nodes were swollen and the tech and radiologist noticed them.

    I hope you're doing well! Curious of a couple things: did you ever have a CT Scan or just the MRI? Wondering if one or the other is more effective at diagnosis of any type of lymphoma. I've had some lymph nodes around the neck, back of head and front of neck (by my throat) that have been getting swollen and tender. 2-3 specifically that always feel swollen. Had a CT scan done with negative imaging. Came back negative, but I'm not sure I trust my docs. Its just been very weird with these being swollen/tender. Alcohol definitely makes them feel more tender. Wondering if I should insist on the MRI and/or biopsy on top of the CT...

    • @MelanieCamille
      @MelanieCamille  4 роки тому

      I actually got a CT scan. I miss spoke when I said MRI. You can always see a different doctor for a second opinion (which is never a bad idea). But if you notice it getting worse after eating or drinking certain things it could possibly be an allergy. I am not a medical professional so definitely
      see a doctor for a diagnosis, but it might be another thing to explore if your CT's keep coming back negative

      Got my ct scan results going Monday to my primary doctor. Because I don’t understand my ct scan results. It says prominent scattered cervical chain lymph nodes. Palpable marker of interest in the deep region where patients concerns are

    While I too have swollen nodes on my neck, right of spine, I also “feel” tentacles branching out. The redness is tense, and the area does hurt, I’d like to hear more about the issues related to the gut area. What were the impacts to this region (stomach, liver, kidneys,etc)?
