- Lymph nodes help your body recognize and fight germs, infections and other foreign substances. A swollen gland is an enlargement of one or more lymph nodes. We went to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and spoke with Dr. Andrew Alexander, asking him to tell us why people get swollen glands?

These are just things I’ve learned because with I or my son has had them and more:
Cat Scratch fever is a coinfection of Lyme. The infection is from tick poison (Do NOT think bull’s eye rash!), and can be brought in from a cat or anything else and the cat can get it under their nails.
Also, if you have breast implants, your body will be fighting off the toxins and you will have enlarged glands everywhere. I had them in my tonsils and everywhere else, but had my tonsils taken out at age 62.
Also, upper cervical spine disc issues can block the drainage from the brain and the waste from the brain goes down the throat and into the neck lymph nodes. My son has constant eye and sinus problems, a chronic sore throat, and teeth that hurt.
These toxins from anything can really clog up your lymph nodes. I speak from years of experience. 🙏💕💫
Diagnosed with COVID a few days ago. Felt my glands start to swell, then the chest congestion + fever went away & the lymph nodes continued to swell (respond). Outside of a LOT of pain when swallowing, I feel no discomfort from the Covid symptoms. They did what they needed to do! The white cells responded, but dear god - the pain from the swelling is real.
Did the swelling go away? My submental lymph node is swollen and it freaked me out. That’s why I’m here lol.
@@armenrastgouian2988 Yep, it went away after a few days! I used ice & ibuprofen to help the cause. But what followed this phase was one week (or more) of brain fog hell. I’m just now getting some semblance of clarity. I felt like i was playing a video game of myself.
I think Im going through the same thing. Recently had covid, all symptoms have disappeared except the painful to the touch inflammation on the left side of my neck. Hurts to swallow. Hope it goes away.

That's funny that I came across this video I was just telling my daughter whos a nurse that I have had a swollen lymph node under my under arm and I hate telling her because she worries and of course she wants me to go to the doctor.
I have had golf ball size lymph glands in both arm pits for a couple years, finally got an ultra sound and last vist my Dr said we won't talk about that today, she only addressed my routine vist of thyroid medication checkup. I now have more glands swelling, left side of my neck and left side of rib cage. I have changed gp and still no solution, none want to look at it. In my area it's common for Dr to only spend 6-8 minutes with you, no physical exams are done anymore. I was having breathing problems she laughed at and I had to push for asthma test which came back positive and treatment needed. I feel patients are treated poorly in this day. It's all a money racket now. Many people in my area have had similar issues and one died because Dr. Didn't take him serious, dentist sent a bad tooth out for testing because of his concerns came back leukemia and he was dead that week

Everyone should be practicing lymphatic drainage. It's something you can do yourself in the privacy of your own home with just a soft dry brush. There are a few techniques on you tube. Very beneficial.

Does a tender left collarbone node about 1cm ALWAYS a bad sign indicating tumor spread even though lab test confirmed no malignant cells noted except inflammatory cells and some scatter foamy macrophages? thank you Dr
Any type of cervical lymphadenopathy or lymph node swelling in the neck is meaningful. It must represent infection of some type in the head and neck. That's typically the cause. More unusual causes can include lymphoma, tuberculosis and cat scratch ( two unusual infections)disease.
Michael S. Morris, MD sometimes when I eat certain things mine swell up on both sides of my neck right below my ears and down to the middle of my neck. but it only lasts for about 30mins to an hour then it goes back to normal. what could that be?
I think it must be tuberculosis.

Has the lumps gone?
I have lymph nodes on both sides of my groins. What Specialist Doctor would I need to see? Would my Gastroenterologist be able to help or do I need to be referred to a Urologist? My Primary Care Doctor was not concerned when I went to him with 1 left side lymph node a year ago, but now they’re on both sides. Could there be any correlation between GI issues and lymph nodes in the groins?

What kind of biopsy is preferable? If a person does have cancer wouldn’t it be risky to poke it with a needle and letting the cancer leak out? And if they don’t have cancer surgery maybe would be too invasive.

Few days ago the corner of my mouth began to tingle, turns out to be a herpes breakout.
Now my lymph node on the same side of my jaw line as the herpes breakout is swollen and very very painful.
Seeing here it’s probably my body’s way of attacking the herpes virus infection.

My 7 year old granddaughter has ha a quarter sized lump for a year .she has had strep several times the doctors did ultra sound said we could watch it or have it removed I say biopsy.her strep is very hard to get rid of.she is going in to have tonsils out
I had a swollen lymph in my neck and it has stayed for years and the Drs won't do a biopsy. Then others have popped up and once again the Drs won't do a biopsy. I get them scanned and the scans don't shoe signs of malignancy but I have been told that only a biopsy can rule this out. Is that correct?

I've had a swollen lymph node on the neck below the jawline, for about 3months already last month feb 2 i had a dr appointment, he scheduled an ultrasoind and he said it looked "normal" i scheduled a follow up as he indicated for march 2 and he seemed kind of annoyed that i went back he said it was totally normal. I didnt like his respose so im changing dr's my next appointment is march 17 with the new dr hopefully she can do more studies on me as one of my close aunts did have throat cancer.
Hey, any update on yours? I've had swollen lymph node under my jaw on the left side since last week of march. By 1st week of april i went to see a doctor. She prescribed antibiotic for a week and asked me to see her again if it doesn't go away. I didn't take the antibiotic until 2nd week of May. I found 2 more lumps that felt harder but moveable just above collarbone, still on the left side. I'm so worried this might be cancer 😭 i know i need to see a doctor eventually..
Not really she did not give me any antibiotics she said it was normal but told me to check with my dentist just to make sure it wasnt something in the mouth 🤔. Have you heard anything yet?
@@karenyareligarcia8387 I haven't gone to another doctor yet. However, since last week the first swollen node has shrunk, it's not visible anymore but I can still feel it by touch. The other two have also shrunk. If it doesn't go away by next month I might see a specialist in the city.
I'm not really sure what helped shrunk my swollen lymph nodes but I tried drinking plenty of water, reduced my workload thus less stress, went back to taking food supplements and got enough sleep. I also found some other videos from patients who had more swollen lymph nodes all throughout their body but turned out fine.
Googling has caused cancer scare that resulted to too much stress for me. I hope everyone who has this will feel better, not panic, and if you have the chance see a doctor for your peace of mind.

My 20 yr old gf is experiencing a similar case to yours. However, she went through a biopsy but with a different case as there are two lumps she found 6 months ago in her breasts and fortunately they were benign. Now, the pain she is experiencing is a different lump that is quite soft in her left armpit near breast area, it hurts so bad like a sharp tool stabbing like pain as she describes it. It’s been like almost a month now since she noticed this and still feeling the same pain. Any advice or anyone who’s experienced such?

I have them in my groin they always go away tho like some pop up on my butt and in between my legs and I had one in my arm pit I’m going to the doctor to see what’s wrong I don’t have any symptoms other then the bumbs it’s been happening for about a year I think it’s just the bacteria but you can never be sure what’s happening so I’m going to get checked out

I tried not to see anything on this. I had my 2nd COVID vaccine on Feb 11,2021 and 3 days later. I had a terrible painful pain on my underarm where I got vaccinated. Waited 2 month and had a sonogram done and I had 3 lymph nodes swollen. They told me I had to go and a follow up 3 months later. I did and 2 of the lymph nodes went away except 1. 3 days later which it was yesterday I had a biopsy. They took 5 pieces to get tested. Now I wait 2 to 3 days for results. This video was helpful and I’m trying not to freak out. Wishing everyone who is going through something like this the best and prayers. ❤️🙏🏼

@@TBNick Thank you so much. My 1st test there’s NO IMMUNOPHENOTYPIC EVIDENCE OF NON-HODGKIN LYMPHOMA & my 2nd test its negative for carcinoma. Thank god it came back negative. I was told I need to get retested in 6 month to see if it has grew in size. It still hurts from the biopsy. But I’m so relief and thankful it’s nothing serious. Hope it stays that way. 🙏🏼

I found out I have glandular fever out I have three years ago when I have become very sick with cold, swollen tonsils, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes and so on. After two weeks I was back to normal, let's just say I recovered. Everything with me is fine but my lymph is still swollen till this day on the right side of my throat and the back of my neck right side. It is extremely visible if I bend or raise my neck but I don't get pain. I asked my doctor what should I do but the reply I have gotten was it's less than 1 inch I don't need to do anything and it's fine for me to live with it. Do you guys have any suggestion I fear the worst thinking it can be cancerous or am I just paranoid.
I would agree with seeing an ENT. I would assume if it is something to worry about that it's best to catch it when smaller in size than wait for it to grow.

Does anybody get Swollen glands on their neck when you drink milk? Goat milk and every other milk is fine I don’t get the reaction but why cow milk? I’ve been researching about this because when I drink milk, my glands pop up and stay for a few days and don’t go away.
I think I may have something bad, was dumb enough to shrug off swollen lymph nodes on jawline for 7 months (1 on each side). They are about 1/2 inche long

Okay I'm in recovery from addiction from opiates. Been clean for 15 years now. But I've been fighting tooth infections for many years from tooth infections exposed roots to abscess teeth as well. Now I feel some discomfort in my neck but I have no signs of swelling lymphs that I can see or feel. I do however feel soreness under the jaw bone. But just wondering if anyone had experience any of these symptoms. Please help if you have in advice or information please let me know in the comments.

My left tonsil swelled up immediately after eating a sour blueberry 🫐 but they were just washed with vinegar and water so not sure what that was about, 3 weeks later swelling down but still feels a little stiff or hard ?

Hiya, I’m 22, I graduated a year ago right now I just work. i know its unlikely I’m gonna get answers, but I’ve been getting swollen lymph nodes for a while and it always seems to be in the same place under my armpits they come and go in like episodes and as a perosn I’m usually very fatigued and out of breath but when I get them it’s like I get proper sick and the symptoms intensity and I look gross and sweaty. Like I said the come and go in liek few days and it’s always in one or the other armpit it usually changes. My bloods showed a low anemia (so I started taking ironsupplements again) but they also showed abnormal ESR rate. The doctor didn’t really say anything much about it refferences me for chest scan X-ray for my chest pains I was all clear. So does any health care proffesionsal know what underlying condition apart from the scariest and typical answer for google to give me .... can cause this? My chest pains are not as frequent any more however I do get pinching sensation in my underarms all I know is that one or twice atleast everymonth I get ill, feverish without actual fever just that I’m feeling flushed and hot all day, I’m extremely fatigued and then my lymph node in my armpit is flared and I have a painful bump, This has also been confirmed by the doctor the other reason to rule it out is like some feminists cause I don’t shave religiously under the arms. when this happens it stays for few more days then it goes away.... I’m still fatigued but the others go. What the hell is this? 🤣like I said it goes away and it can vary when I first got this it was the worst experince of them all I got really ill and had night sweats .... the most painful one. The second time it didn’t hurt and it didn’t stay that long then the times after that they varied I felt pain and some didn’t last long at all and went after 3 days. It’s also worth mentioning I’m not sexually active.

Yeah my left is swollen too. Noticed a lymph node behind my earlobe swollen and the area around it going to my jaw almost to the mid jawline , swollen that far.. not swollen bad and my neck is sore too. It doesn't hurt so much, it's just tender and can feel the tightness .

What if lymph nodes only swell when u eat and u have lots of swelling issues throughout ur body and your back of head bottom of feet and armpits and lower legs itch like wildfire mostly at night?
Have you ever been tested for mold (mycotoxin exposure)? A urine test measuring organic acids. An ERMI test kit to see how much mold is present in the space

Well it also happens when I don't eat. Like you know that feeling you get when you eat something sour and your throat feels weird and produces extra saliva. That's what happens then right below my ear and in front of my ear down to the middle of my neck swells up and its extremely hard. I can breathe just fine and swallow fine. But it happens on my left side more frequently than it does on the right.

allergic reaction probably. I get swollen glands often and most of the time they disappear hours later. Make note what you eat when this happens to find the culprit.
I have an Inguinal Lymph node that's 5 cm wide on my groin. Tests were done, hopefully nothing serious...

yes. but mine is from gadlinium contrast in the mri I had. thats how my body reacted to metal. what about you? I know how to treat it now, but didnt start doing it yet

I wish he was my doctor. Last year in September 2020 I brought it up to my doctor that I had a bump below my chin. I spoke with my ENT also who said it’s probably just a swollen lymph node. Fast forward to May 2021 I have had a Ultrasound followed by a CT with contrast. Now I have to get biopsied. I’m so nervous I have cancer now because nobody listened to me. 🥺

@@jahnavimehta 3 years later I'm fine. I went to an ENT had ultrasound/MRI. Nothing was unusual. I still feel them today. No worries dont be scared. Its not always something bad.

@@jahnavimehta I had 1 about the size of a marble under my jaw and a couple smaller ones. It fluctuates in size. Could be related to dental health or acne. who knows if its really bothering you get it checked out. For peace of mind.
