    I’m a petite but strong, 5’3.5, 23yr old woman. My favorite bike is a Harley Flhr-Road king. That bike is a lot for some men, and I got laughed at a lot at the dealer or when I met bikers and told them what I loved. I have ridden a hyabusa and it was too tall for me, I had to hop n go and put a lot of weight on my strong leg. When I first got on a king, I loved the feeling, like being on a Clydesdale. I refused to get any other bike than my dream one. I couldn’t have my first one lowered so I stood on it a lot, walked it around, used the stand a lot. They have lower kits and I found that wearing the standard boot with a one to two inch heel, lowering the bike two inches if you choose, can let you flat foot. For me, it mainly means I can half foot it. Now though I can ride a king even at its regular height and that means I have to lean over the tank and tip toe at stops.
    Don’t let anyone tell you to get a small bike or a women’s bike, ride what you want and you feel confident on. After all it’s your money that’s being used, and it’s your butt on the bike. Practice different ways to get on and off and start and stop. One of my friends from japan is a man that is five foot even and he rides an a road glide special and he had the seat shaved hit still can’t flat foot. He’s found many creative and funny ways to get going without much change to his bike.
    We shorties can ride the fun toys too, don’t be discouraged and don’t let your nerves get to you. Even if you drop your bike at a light, it’s not the end of the world. And just think, you still have a bike and most people aren’t even brave enough to try to ride one! 😆
    Hope someone finds encouragement in my poorly typed comment. And I need to go to sleep...lol

    I am a girl and only 5'4" and i've been watching your video's for quite some time now. I have only just got back into riding after being off bikes for 20yrs. Your video's and some other youtuber's were what inspired me to get back on a bike. I had an incident about 21yrs ago whilst carrying a pillion. We were going round a bend and my friend on the back decided not to lean with me on this one bend (he thought we might fall over!! .. he was not a rider himself). I lost control and we went wide and ended up in the ditch. Fortunately i managed to ride up the ditch without coming off but we both shit ourselves. It scared me a lot and i don't think i ever got over the fear it left me with so i gave up riding a year later. I bought a Honda CMX500 a few months ago cos of its low seat height and thought i'd try and get over my fear of riding again but it didn't handle very well on corners (felt like the rear end was bouncing all over the place) so it didn't inspire confidence and the foot peg position made riding uncomfortable after half hour. Then i watched this video (and Part 1) and thought I'd go try the Z650 out. I took a test ride and felt the difference in the cornering straight away. I ended up trading in my Honda CMX500 for the Kawasaki Z650 and i'm loving every minute of it. I live in Australia and the bike is restricted to only 37.8kW/8,000rpm (Its aimed at the learner market) but it still goes like a rocket compared to the Honda CMX500. Thanks for inspiring me Tremonte. BTW - what video editing software do you use as i'm curious to know how you get the other camera shots inserted in the corner of your videos as i do a bit of a sound & video editing as a hobby.

      +Taniwhais hi and thanks for watching! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos and found the confidence to ride again. The Z is definitely a great bike to get you back on the road again. Most of my videos are edited with Powerdirector. It has a ton of features at an affordable price. I've never done any video or editing before starting this channel, so I'm learning as I go. I may upgrade to something else in the future, but for now it works well enough for what I do. Again, thanks for watching and ride safe out there!

      And they have mostly 1 or 2 helpers which are holding the bike when they come off. Would be easier on the road lol but not realistic. They don't have places to stop on railways/grass/gravel/ lanes where truckers with heavy loads deformed the lanes/ hill up/ hill down...etc.

    Great video for shorter rider! I am 5'7 but with an inseam of 29 and my thighs are very thick from doing heavy weight lifting that hinder me from riding larger bikes actually! I do prefer having both my feet planted and I can with the Z650, I feel the Yamaha Fz07 is a little too tall. I am just not comfortable not having both feet flatfooted. Maybe when I get more riding experience.

    At 5'6" with an sv650 i found that having slightly higher rear sets was absolutely wonderful at lights especially on an incline.
    Fortunately, at my height i can tippy toe both feet which makes all the everyday maneuvers simple, the tallest bike i ever rode was a KLR650 and it was....an adventure.

      Do you think the CBR650F would be a good first bike if I plan on riding safely? Just like you i am interested by that inline four engine. Furthermore I would prefer buying a single bike that will suit me for a long time instead of buying and selling multiple bikes going up that engine displacement ladder.
      Also is 5f4 and 30' inseam fine for that bike if you ride in stop and go traffic? Thanks in advance!

  • @Oakhart76
    @Oakhart76 7 років тому +1

    The best way to make backing a bike up no longer needed ever again, is to spin it around by pivoting on the stand. Search videos showing how to do it. It is incredibly easy so do, it doesn't seem like it is something that is possible, and when people see you do it, it freaks them out haha. All you do is pivot the bike on he stand, spin the bike around to face the other direction, get on and drive away. It's way faster than pulling the bike uphill to turn it around if you're parked facing downhill!

    • @Tremonte
      @Tremonte  7 років тому

      +Kilroy was here I watched a guy really embarrass himself one night doing this. The stand dug into the asphalt, folded and he dropped the bike on himself. It works on concrete but not too well if the surface is soft.

    Real nice tips man! I am about your height (maybe an inch more). And I have just hit 30. I planned to get myself a bike long back, but never really did. Now I am on a hunt to buy myself a bike, but have only practiced a bit on my friend's Yamaha FZS ver 2 150 cc bike. The tips would really help. Especially the one where you said to get around the right side of bike with the left stand down to safely maneuver it. Never thought about that! :D

    Has any short riders here ever had an issue with stopping? Wondering if my allignnent is off or if it is merely the height of my bike being I can tip toe only and on some grounds only one foot it. I stop always with one foot down and other on brake yet some stops are brutal. Sometimes I lose balance. Whether foot down too soon and still some forward motion on the bike, or simply my height to the seat height, I am unsure but I have had a few times now where I lost balance because my left foot didn't reach it did yet bike was leaning to the right instead of left and it started falling to the right. I dropped it to the right at a stop sign weeks back and am afraid to again. I don't want to. But sometimes as I am just about stopped the handlebars get wavy or veer to the right and want to go right I believe from leaning to the left for my foot down, whatever it is if the bike isn't perfect straight it wants to go to the right and drop sometimes and I am trying my best to stop this from happening again. Thanks

    • @mtr7076
      @mtr7076 Рік тому

      you have to slightly turn the bike jusssst as it stops or slightly after , then bike naturally leans the directiony ou want so you can put foot down so your example of bike going right and yor foot going left will not happen

    I need advice I'm 5"7 and Ive ridden a motorcycle only for about a combined total of approximately 36hrs. It was a 10 year old Yamaha 600cc cruiser, I don't remember the model but after just about 6 hours I felt very comfortable riding and in my ability of handling a motorcycle. I now am visiting the idea of buying my own bike but I'm stuck between the z650 or the z900. I know the 650 will suit me best at first but I feel like I'm going to quickly outgrow the bike. I remember learning on the Yamaha and after the end of me being with it I wish it just had much more power. I remember having it topped off to about 98 mph and it was screaming maxed out. I don't want to run into this issue with my new bike. I'm only really concerned with the height of the Z900. As for it being a lot more bike I understand that but I think with its easy riding characteristics I can slowly break myself back into riding and then when I'm ready to grow the z900 will have the extra learning platform for me to really take advantage of the extra heft and speed the bike has to offer. I live in Texas and we have some really big long roads and when I see the Z650 getting pushed and it sort of reminds me of the Yamaha that I learned on where I could see how it easily it can get pushed to its limits. At first it seems plenty but 6 months in i can see how that power won't really be enough. Can I get suggestions on where to go from here?

    • @Tremonte

      kwazykilla87 go with what you feel will be comfortable for you. Where I live, the roads are extremely curvy and hilly. The Z650 is a perfect bike for that. Low to mid range torque right where I need. With you having more open and flat road, the 900 may be better suited to you. I also don't carry passengers, since my wife doesn't ride. Although the 650 does have plenty of power than what you would expect, a 900 would be better to two-up on. Go sit on a couple different bikes and see what you feel comfortable with.

    I was considering buying the Kawazaki Z650 for myself 3 months ago as it was really a love at first sight. But when I saw the seat height at 784.9mm I became really apprehensive as I'm only 5'5" so I am too short for it and have to tip toe on traffic congestions and with the wet weight of that bike at 187 Kg I just saw my hopes flying out the window. But thanks a bunch for your vids regarding short people taking on big bikes my enthusiasm for the Z650 is finally back!

      Historical Diggers honestly, I'm not one that likes to lower bikes. And three inches seems way too much, unless you're doing a 100% drag bike.

      Historical Diggers: If you drop the rear, drop the front too; otherwise you'll radically alter the bike's steering geometry.

      Factory Dunlops are definitely not the best tires for a bike. Maybe had 300 miles on them in this video. Michelin Pilots are much better for grip on loose surfaces.

    I'm 5'9" and ride a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 ABS KRT Edition (gorgeous and wonderful). I have to mount it using a footpeg, like using a stirrup on a saddle, because I've lumbar "stenosis", and tight hamstrings.
    My MSF instructor is very short in height, but he's got decades of experience riding all sorts of bikes and he apparently has no problem with any of them.

    the bike i was training on dosent have that type of stand. im not sure if its the correct term but its the type where you need to lift the back wheel. what advice would you give for that type. if you understand what im talking about.

    • @Tremonte
      @Tremonte  7 років тому

      A center stand is what your bike had. If you have trouble reaching the ground on a bike that has one of those, most of the time it's easier to get off the bike to put the stand down.

    • @sniperartoriginal37
      @sniperartoriginal37 7 років тому

      sorry i should have been more specific. i was mainly refering to he part between 3:50 and 6:07 where you talk about getting on the bike and moving the bike on the opposite side to the kick stand with the sand down.

    • @Tremonte
      @Tremonte  7 років тому

      The Ducati 796 and 696 were actually two of the bikes I was looking at. The 696 is almost identical to the Z650 as far as feel, and the 796 is close, but just a bit taller. Either one would be fairly easy to manage. I'm not sure about the XSR900.
