Nope, I didn’t really know I needed a noise gate and I was always skeptical about adding one to my chain, but now I’m sold on this pedal - thanks for the informative and thorough demo (been following since your PGS days)!
I just noticed Andy & I pick exactly the same way which is helpful to me to hear these pedals with a shared fingerpicking approach, especially using the index nail as a pick.
Clearer delay repeats in large part because he didn't palm-mute, and even allowed another note to sustain over the delays when the Noise Reaper was off.
Andy, is that riff at 6:10 a little nod to QOTSA’s Tension Head? Sounds sort of similar... I like it. Basically, any demo where you play QOTSA, I have to have that pedal!
in your opinion, if you're only going to purchase one noise reaper, and still want to run your delays in an effects loop, what's the best way to wire this puppy up? thanks for the awesome video!
Hi, thanks for those informations. Does the feedback noise caused by proximity of the amp also be removed in the second configuration (1 noise reaper in amp fx loop)?
so... i've been having noise issues in my studio. i picked up an ehx hum debugger and it works... remarkably well. it's technically not a gate, and more of a filter, but it does a damn good job at getting rid of the underlying noise. you mentioned the noise reaper is a gate, not a hum eliminator or anything like that, but it sure sounds like the hum is gone underneath the signal when turned on. am i hearing (or not hearing, i should say) things correctly?
Doug Clark Hey Doug, according to Stone Deaf, a gate is a time domain filter which enables you to cut out the quiet unwanted parts (low energy) that’s tuned by the threshold. It compares the incoming signal level (guitar input) and the gated signal level creating a smooth cut off that eliminates unwanted audio signal levels (hiss, hum, feedback) when you set the threshold knob to your desired level.
Great question, I’d expect that the noise is very much nonexistent on an amp sim vs a tube amp. So, just one Noise Reaper would do the trick! You can place it after your gain pedals or right before the Iridium.👍🏻
I always get extra happy when Andy brings out the Hagström.
8 minutes for a demo on a noise gate? Thanks Andy!
You're welcome! There are lots of applications for this one :)

odallard Thanks so much and glad to be of service!
Wish I was quarantined with all dem pedals

Now that's how to demo a noise gate.
Most underrated effect for hi-gain amps, used a NS-2 as my only pedal for years.
Wow! Andy got me excited about a noise gate. Awesome.
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been interested in getting one of these but was waiting for a proper review. You sold me on it.
Wow, I'm impressed! Wasn't expecting much with only 1 knob, but man, they've got it covered! I like Stone Deaf.. I've had a PDF-2 for years now. 🤘😎🍻
I know Andy can make every pedal sound great, but noise gate? come ooonnnn 😁😁😁
The Hagstrom has returned! great sounding and looking gtr.
DUUUDDEE! This slaps! Was waiting for this vid before purchasing one, but now it's be dumb not to.

Wow that's awesome!
2:38 thanks tinnitus 😃
Wow I was like warm on it until you did the delay portion. Man that sounded clean. Does this effect harmonica played on the guitar at all?
Sounds killer Andy 🔥

mattvgyo Yes, it’s not exact but I was just re-listening to Rated R and love that little gem!
Hey Andy! How's that thing do with some guitar volume roll off to clean up?

How about within a GigRig G2 WetDryWet rig?
how can I use 2 stone deaf in a rig with strymon iridium? Or should I use only one?

Will that pedal eliminate all feedback completely? What if I want to have some feedback from a maxed out amp but don't want the hissing?
Nah, you should be able to adjust that with the knob. And you still have the footswitch to turn it off in case you want all noise =D
I am using a Boss NS-2. Will the Noise Reaper be a step up oder will it do the same???
Step up. I had a ISP Decimator II which is the "best" on the market, and it was a step up from that for sure. Love this thing
@@Toology88 Okay, thanks!
at last!
love it
Krass ...
The graphic leaves a little to be desired, but the pedal itself is super interesting!
I was going to write the same thing. That may be the ugliest pedal I have ever seen!
You realy used two ?! It's a lot...
They're cutting noise from two completely different places.
