    Thanks for the shout out! I've tested this matchup a bit more recently and it's probably still one of the scariest matchups for GAT. Game 1 is extremely tough and in games 2 and 3, you are practically forced to mulligan until you have chill and even then, it can be blasted or you don't have the mana disruption to back it up and the burn player finds enough lands to chip in.
    Personally, I like to keep mage in even though it's bad, simply because it can hold off attacks and draw a burn spell away from face. However, it's so much worse when opponent has seal of fire instead of shock. GAT really wants to start max dazes and fire/ice to combat this matchup but those are my least favorite cards into the rest of the metagame. Call of the Herd helps this matchup a little bit though.
    On the burn side, I prefer keeping vortex over ball given the threat of fire/ice and the occasional plow my own psychatog to survive line.
    Overall, very illustrative games on how the matchup feels, great work!

      Hi Lanny! The GAT player from the video here. Thanks for the insight and the words of appreciation. :) What do you board out if you keep Mages around? More Sleight of Hand? Thanks! :)

      @@JiriTuma-zh7uqyeah normally sleight of hand goes first (in my latest list sleights are AKs, so even less efficient) the reasoning being that you don’t have time for a lot of cantripping and if your whole game plan is chill, you’re just gonna mulligan to find it instead of keep a hand that maybe draws into it.
      I also tend to cut the foil and some counters. Counters can be good but if you draw a lot, your opponent can just play at instant speed and make your mana usage inefficient.
      Currently working on a plan that doesn’t mull to chill and just tries to stay ahead using blast pyroclasm and call of the herd

    I guess this is an exception to the rule: Sligh always beats Gro-a-tog :) Nice games. Well played.

    You should have played it with the Earthquakes, how Lannynyny intended. but this is probably better. Experimented with quakes a while, not worthy. Anyway good content and pilots :)

      I think that might be more meta dependant, earthquake has done so much work for me. Personally doing 2 quake and one dart in my board.

    thanks for sharing guys.
    So chill better than circle red or warmth VS burn/goblins?

    • @JiriTuma-zh7uq
      @JiriTuma-zh7uq 3 місяці тому

      Chill is imo way better than both. CoP requires a lot of mana to work while you want to cast several spells a turn. Warmth is dead to Vortex and underwhelming against Goblins as they can race it with a bunch of dudes.

      @@JiriTuma-zh7uq i see.
      the only thing is that chill dies vs red elemental blast.
