Everything I’ve read/seen about this kid suggests he’s a hard worker and realises he can’t compete on just his size alone. If he continues to train hard, learn more, and improve his game, he’s got a good future either in the NBA or internationally.
Bro can be a generational talent with the right push. Y’all gotta stop putting down a kid with your comments about health, him playing and his height. Just let the guy live
Honestly he moves better than most 7'+ guys I've seen. Especially the freakishly huge ones who are 7'4"+, and he's pretty much a full head taller than them.
If he wants to get really good, he’ll go to Purdue and play for Matt Painter. Painter has shown himself to be the best big man coach in college basketball.
He's fortunate that he seems to have avoided Marfan's syndrome or other congenital health issues suffered by extremely tall people. Best of luck to him, seems like he's a hard worker.
The footage in this video doesn't show the real struggle Olivier faces on the court. He is by far the slowest player on the court. He can't rotate at all. There is no way he can play in the NBA. The Muresan comparison is interesting. But Muresan would be run out of the league today. I don't know what the university of Florida's medical staff is worth, but they need to work miracles if Olivier is going to play pro ball.
The comparison with Gheorghe Muresan is pretty accurate. If this was the 90's, he'd be a lock as a future NBA player. Nowadays he'll probably be a bench warmer at most. If Taco Fall and Bol Bol can't play, it's very unlikely he will. Every position must be able to guard the 3 point shot and sadly, I don't think he'll be ever fast enough.
I live in montreal and i think i saw him play when i was like 16 (like 2 yrs ago) literally just by showing up to my friend's school and from what i can recall he's not rly the type to go for a 3 that often, but he was still tryna do a few, just clearly wasnt priority.
Being tall isn’t the only thing that makes you good at basketball the reason we never see people that are almost 8 feet tall is because of the amount of stress it puts on their legs so it’s more about the physical aspect against high schools he might dominate but against the pros he will most likely struggle do to being so tall
