Stevie Wonder and Stevie Ray became very close friends. Stevie Wonder sang "Amazing Grace" At Stevie Ray's funeral. There wasn't a dry eye anywhere.....
SRV was engaged to be married.. and really coming into great times .. The crash was a "God why" moment for me. But I really appreciate your sharing this... I hadn't seen it before.
And the Masters respected him. Johnny Copeland had several confrontations with him over his drug used before he cleaned up and, once he cleaned up, he spread the message far and wide! Then we lost him.
My favorite guitarist ever period Jimi and Eric are all great but when this man strapped on the one that's what he called his guitar it was pure magic man I miss that guy RIP stevie
Love your humour, do not lose your unique authenticity in this. I feel you you are the best one out there doing these videos. You can sing for real, you have innate comedic timing. Big things are going to happen for you I believe. Someone out there needs to hook you up for real. Such a tragic loss, SRV was epic. You should try out Bowie’s Let’s Dance as he mentioned. And for Clapton, Layla by Derek & the Dominos true perfection of a song with Duane Allman on slide guitar. And Clapton playing on the Beatles While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
😭😭😭😭😭 DAMMIT I LOVE THIS MAN AND WISH HE WAS STILL WITH US! My birthday buddy! Why did he have to be taken from us so soon? The part where he talked about getting clean made me tear up. He hit rock bottom, picked himself up, dusted himself off, got himself back together again, and then he’s taken from us...😔 But thank God he lived and produced all of this wonderful material for us to look back on and enjoy still to this day. God bless SRV! 🙌💯
Dont stop saying "I'm gonna kick ur ass" I love that, one of the reasons I subscribed when I saw u say u wernt gonna kick the Righteous Brothers ass just one punch a piece I was hooked. Lmao
My dude. Thank you for being the one man on this planet who has the fuckin balls to react to this. You are the man! Much love to the legend that is SRV. You are keeping Stevie's legacy alive bro.
I’ve been playing music my whole life. Naturally gifted. I’ve played in concerts and all. But even to a experienced musician the stuff he does is mind blowing. The timing. The finger speed. Everything he does is impeccable. You must be a master to play on his level.
Stevie is rightly lauded for his lead guitar playing, but what seems to be overlooked sometimes is just HOW good a rhythm player he was. He was incredibly tight, and could mix lead and rhythm lines so seamlessly that there was literally no need for a second guitar player in the band. RIP Stevie.
OK -After watching you go down the BEST GUITARIST rabbit hole, I have to speak. In 1989, (I think), SRV and Jeff Beck toured together. One night SRV would open with his band and Beck would headline. The next night Beck would open and SRV close out. And they always came on stage at one point and jammed together. There's youtube vid of them together doing 'Goin' Down'. What's my point? If you don't think SRV wouldn't scream from the heavens to listen and learn about Beck...well I don't know what to say. Check out Becky, with a young Tal Wilkenfeld on bass, doing "Angel" at Ronnie Scott's. No circus, no playing with teeth, no playing behind the head, just pure bliss.
I had the opportunity to see Stevie Ray on the Riverboat in New Orleans in the mid-80s. A lovely guy who never criticized anyone. He said in one interview that there's room for everyone in music and that meant there was room for him too. Check out his performance of "Little Sister" from Austin City Limits when he breaks a string and see how he handles it.
nothing wrong with lighting up a joint brother as long as u take care of your business. he was talking cocaine and alcohol. some people don't have the addiction gene but those who do need to step away and rethink their situation!
Gotta say this, everyone aware of SRV's drug situation (and it was big time) was pulling for him! He really was quite lovable. When he did get clean, he thrived on it and put out two excellent albums. As you get to know him, Video, you can see the differences between when he was using and later on when sober. Sometime, I don't think even Jimi could match hime. Oh, and in the beginning about "purist", the majority of founding blues players were as tight with the "copyright" as YT is with reactors. You play somebody's song, you play it THEIR way, otr things will happen to write a song about! It wasn't until maybe the British Invasion people started playing blues and electric blues "differently" from their writers.
Mr. Video, I met Stevie Ray back in the day (the late 70s) when he was playing Austin, Texas 7 nights a week. No one had ever done that before and only one other band since. This interview is a great find. I hadn't seen it before. I saw Stevie in concert one last time before he died in the crash in LA at the Greek Theater. Incredible show. It was about 2 or 3 weeks before the crash. He played the guitar better behind his back than everyone else did with it in front. Stevie was the best ever, and I've seen them all in person.
I really loved this..there are so many more interviews out there.. Please try Aint Gon Give Up On Love, ..Change It,...and Life Without You..all live from The Capitol Theatre💞💞💞🎶🎶
@@starfire6122 🤠Absolutely starfire! LOL. It's always great to see your comments on a SRV reaction. I hope you're doing well, my fellow Stevie disciple! 👍🎸🎸🎸💞💞💞
How about some female guitarist, the runaways with Joan Jett and lita ford, orianthi played for Michael Jackson, the pretenders with chrissie hynde. And then something different, rodrigo y Gabriela you will like it
I was 15 when Stevie died and I was so into everything he was doing. I remember it being the first celebrity/musician death that affected me deeply, I was truly saddened. Every time I see this video, when he says "...and Eric Clapton does it like this", so classic.
I LOVED your reaction to Stevie Ray-- you gotta check out "Life Without You' . It'll kill you dude. BTW I'm a 64 year old woman who's been in love with Stevie for decades, and it's really cool to see you young'uns appreciating his genius and catching the love.
Could you react to one of SRV's performance of Life without You please? It's one of my favourite of him :) (He made a speech in the Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ performance about his drug addiction)
Sadly, he was still on drugs during that performance. I think he should watch the Nashville one. He had been sober a little less than a year at the time of that performance. And he poignantly tells everyone to stay away from drugs!
I also read the Texas Flood biography. It's very raw. Lots of personal testimonies from friends and family. Stevie helped many people get sober. One little boy in a hospital was a huge Stevie fan. Stevie came for a visit and gave him his hat. The child was later buried with it. 😪
Rafael Felan the coke in the whiskey (his hangover cure) is what almost killed him. It ate a huge hole in his stomach lining. I believe the doctors told him he would have been dead in a month or two (can't remember the exact number) if he hadn't gotten help when he did. His stomach was so bad, I think it was hard for him to even drink soda!
Bro, did you say that you play Guitar? If so, i believe that the people on your channel would love to hear you play something, Just do what you do, this would be a plus Man, Dig, Rock on, Cousin Figel
I thought Stevie Ray took both Freddie King and Eric Clapton to school pretty good. And "Rude Mood"? That's got Chet Atkins, Les Paul, a bunch of jazz guitarists I could not possibly name and a hefty dose of SRV energy, but there are influences.
Bro, this is the fact of what he was doing, in the early daze, SRV would have lines of Coke on his amp, and in between songs he would do them, then one day a stage hand told him , Man you had a White Mustache when you turned around, SRV came up with a New Trick, Put a Gram of Coke in my Whiskey Drink and put it on my amp, he did this for a long time, But the Chemicals togeather started to eat up his Stomach, that is what made him sick and it was killing him, That is when he changed his life around, True Grit Man, Rock on, Cousin Figel
People really don't appreciate the fucking genius off this man! The whole rock industry in the 80's and 90's were pretty much based off most of his riffs and music in general. The guy was a fucking God! 💛💛👏👌 All the greats die way too young.. (Freddie, Bon Scott, IZ)
I love when Stevie plays like other guitarists in other styles and it sounds spot on. If you asked Eric Clapton to play it like Stevie he would smirk and say no thanks.
When you start playing guitar, you're going to suck. Everyone sucked. All the greats sucked, and kept sucking until they stopped. Be fearless and the guitar will carry you through any battle.... oh and if your fingers hurt too much a little superglue on the tips (dried before you touch anything) can make fake calluses until you get the real deal. Edit: For more guitar inspiration check out Dire Straights - Sultans of Swing.
Bro if that’s u rappin in ur intro before the ur reaction starts. That shit sounds hot! I only heard the little bit but I think u got it! Ur the only reaction guy that I actually like there music and would by it straight up! Keep going! -TRP
Stevie woke up for real and now so have you Brother 🙌🙌🙌🙌🎸🎸🎸 You playing all these Awesome 🎸 players reminded me of some1 you have not watched, Ted Nugent Hibernation on the Double Live Gonzo album. Has to be the live version, it's a long 1 but well worth the effort.
For me, it's hard to jump into a guitarist that I like without trying to understand their influences. Robert Johnson is always a final cut if you are thinking of a guitarist to listen to. He only recorded 40 or so songs and he recorded them with his face toward the wall so that the people recording him couldn't see his guitar play. He is a legend in the blues guitar world. Eddie James "Son" House Jr aka Son House was another legend of the blues guitar. As much as I. love and respect Stevie Ray Vaughn, I have to pay respects to the musicians he looked up to.
I truly wish this man was still with us.
imagine what he would have done with another 30 years of experience,
I can't tell you how much I agree
Me too! 😔😭💔
Show ya right
100% agree, think about all the music he never got a chance to create, and we never got a chance to hear.
Stevie Wonder and Stevie Ray became very close friends. Stevie Wonder sang "Amazing Grace" At Stevie Ray's funeral. There wasn't a dry eye anywhere.....
This is a great reaction bro. Stevie was more than a guitar player, he was a decent human being.
30 years gone now, it still hurts. "He played like he was eating a sandwich, it was that easy for him"
SRV & Albert King - Texas Flood. Its fucking magical.
The Sessions recording ... yes!!! When they both stand up ... giving each other room ... that gives me chills.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Stevie Ray is on the college professor level of guitar lessons. It was such a tragedy to lose him.
SRV was engaged to be married.. and really coming into great times .. The crash was a "God why" moment for me. But I really appreciate your sharing this... I hadn't seen it before.
🤠Thirty years after his death, Stevie is STILL an inspiration to millions of people. That is POWERFUL! 🎸🎸🎸
This is great. Thanks for reacting to this. SRV really respected the masters. Then he became one.
Absolutely!!!!🙌🏻❤️✌️✨
And the Masters respected him. Johnny Copeland had several confrontations with him over his drug used before he cleaned up and, once he cleaned up, he spread the message far and wide! Then we lost him.

Lenny - SRV. love all this SRV content tho!
Riviera Paradise too. He'll love the little message he gives at the very beginning of it
He was drinking a big bottle of booze, and doing a 1/4 oz of pharma coke, every day, when he sought help!
Rafael Felan the coke in the whiskey (his hangover cure) is what almost killed him. It ate a huge hole in his stomach lining.
