one of the classic Vietnam War protest songs. Run through the Jungle is their other big one, the one that's in all the war movies.
It's synonymous with Vietnam War movies, u hear this song and just see the vision of those helicopters flying in the jungle, I'm not sure but i think they even used this song in Tropic Thunder
Like zx
Run through the jungle was a song about the proliferation of guns in America. I always thought it was a 'Vietnam Song' while I was serving over there. Having the word 'Jungle' in the title made you automatically think 'Vietnam' back then.
It's about rich men in government sending poor kids off to die in the war in Viet Nam. CCR has several songs about the Viet Nam war. Run Thru the Jungle is a great one.
Bad Moon Rising...My Back Door..
Born on the Bayou ...Proud Mary
Green River, midnight special, have you ever seen the rain/.... Oh man @Mr.Video now you gone and done it.. There isn't a bad CCR song....
Have you ever seen the rain is still my favorite from them 😁
@@coachpopeye874 I really like their version of "I put a Spell on You"
I love your shimmy and shake :) So, during Vietnam the US instituted the Draft. Wealthy Amercans, including Politians, figured out how to 'beat' the Draft by keeping their kids perpetually enrolled in College or sending them on Grand Tours in Europe or calling in favors for medical waivers. So when they sing about 'I ain't no Senator's son' that's the referrence.
Thank you for explaining. Young ones don’t realize what this is about. We need to help them get it !!
This was always my mom's ex husband's favorite song because he was an army veteran that did 4 tours in Vietnam.
My father burnt his draft card in dc god rest his soul he refused to go......my mother was a protestor and went to woodstock so i grew up on this saw ccr in the 90's
Just call them CCR - that's what all the cool kids call them!
indeed!
Or creedence
When your band has 17 songs on a 50 greatest hits of the 70s compilation. Legends.
FACTS!
And they did it all in like 3 years
only 17? i would have thought more
Dude you’re finding all the greats 🙏 CCR is legendary. Really can’t go wrong with any song.
Such a tragedy this band broke up. They sure put out some Anthems in the short time they were jammin'.
More CCR Please. Was 17 when I heard my first CCR song. That was my first concert Been rocking to CCR for 61 year. John Fogerty's the heart and soul of CCR and has had a fantastic solo career.
CCR is yet another rabbit hole! 🕳🐇
Do “Down on the Corner” 🔥🎶🔥
Amen. And Down on the corner a fav
For 5 yrs, the best damn band on earth! And still one of the all time Best ever!!
Creedence, babyyyyyyy. Honey, this song being “ fortunate son” was talking about how he and so many others weren’t millionaire sons, senators sons and they didn’t have to go off to war.. He was being sarcastic. GREATTTTT SONG!
Wasn't Al Gore a senators son
This song is about the draft during Vietnam war. Only the poor boys went.
All the rich boys had bone spurs
@@Dbdorr Yup !! ♡♡😘
"Only". Not exactly true, but there is some truth to it. There were deferments for physical/medical reasons (I had a friend who flunked the physical for flat feet), student deferments (I had a friend who flunked out of college and was drafted virtually the next day), last surviving male child (a guy I went to high school with was sent home to a stateside post when his father died), etc. Like every government system, the draft got "worked". You can imagine the possibilities beyond the legit examples above. (John Kerry's 3 Purple Hearts.) However, because of the draft, there was a cross section of America who served. An obvious example might be John McCain, an Admiral's son. Every picture tells a story, but I saw it in color.
David Dorr or asthma
@@757optim What does John Kerry's three Purple Hearts have to do with this?
One of those songs that is as fresh today as it was back in the 80's. BROKEN WINGS by Mr. Mister
Your a great guy, and i enjoy watching your reactions. I am 67 yrs old and grew up and served through the VietNam War. Most of the enlisted and draftees were the unfortunate ones no race was excluded. You are a breath of fresh air and give me confidence in the younger generation. Keep up the great video reactions, and at one time i had IRS problems eventually it was all fixed. Good luck, we all hit bumps in the road all will be good
this song makes me proud to be a american and im from canada
Hhaha that’s great!! Hahaha 🇺🇸🇺🇸
It ain't meee, IT AIN'T MEEE
I AIN'T NO MAPLE-LEAF'S SON
"Let's not be too rough on our own ignorance; it's what makes America great! -Frank Zappa
We're ALL one regardless where we reside my Northern friend😎🤘
@@makkimontoya7849 Rock 'n' Roll is truly a universal language
"I'm on the edge of unfortunate-ness. But I'm tryin' to get up." ~ This is why I LOVE watching your reactions! You go on then, my friend! You'll be "got up" and overflowing with "fortunate-ness" before you know it!
You can just imagine how we kids, about to be drafted, felt when we heard this song back in the late 1960s! This was the 'spot on' song of that era.
CCR!!! Where there’s been dissent there’s been music, and the Vietnam War era helped give birth to a lot of what is today’s classic American rock and folk, because a good protest song never dies.☮☮
Dude, this is the deepest of rabbit holes!!! CCR is what we have called them for years 🎸🎤🎶♥️ I can give you no less than 20 amazing songs from them. Try “Born on the Bayou” or “ Run Through the Jungle” or “Travelin’ Band” or “I Put a Spell on You” just to start 🎸🎤🎶
Vickie Ray endless hits
UA-cam Guy absolutely and all are great!! One of the early ones I love is “Ramble Tamble” 🎸🎤🎶
YESSS! Run Through the Jungle.
And don't forget...Green River, Ramble Tamble, Lodi, Efigy, Pagan Baby & Keep On Chooglin! They have so many killer tunes!
I can't choose one but Curtis Leow is a frequent of mine 🤙🏼 #CCR
“My spoon was bronze.”
I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.
Made me wonder if bronze is cheaper than stainless steel!
I was already wheezing from the IRS bit at the very beginning🤣🤣
Not a gold spoon. Not a silver spoon. Then the difference is so great to be bronze, stuck with everyone else... better than wood or no spoon... Or funniest one I've heard from some guy in India who was dubbed the internet philosopher for this one... "life is soup, I am fork"
Iconic tune.
Early 70's were a CRAZY time to live through.
Their music is in the movie Forest Gump. Creedence is Legendary ! My Dad was a young man in Vietnam and these songs were very popular at that time in history . My Dad died young as a result of the Vietnam war. I’m a former Army nurse and I would do it all over again.
The legend that is John Fogarty on vocals. Endless choice of songs to pick from and all of them great. Give "I Put A Spell On You" a listen.
Originally done by Screaming Jay Hawkins but CCR did a great version of it.
Can't do Creedence without doing "Born On The Bayou" & "Green River". They'll make you want to put on your dancing shoes.💙
You are killing it with all these awesome songs!!! I believe this is back during the Vietnam war. Sad that not many things have changed since then. Keep up the good work 👍🏼 you’re so much fun to watch!
Such a great track, this has been on my play list for a while now. 😁👍
Have you ever seen the rain is my fave track by CCR 😁👍🇬🇧💞 they are also the original band that wrote and sang "Proud Mary" that Tina Turner is so well known for. 👍👍👍
I will never, ever get tired of watching your reactions:) :P)
CCR doing “heard it through the grapevine”, talk about funk!! Blew Jamels socks off! Would love to see you do that one too! 🧡✌️✨
I miss these videos, this was an excellent reaction, thank you. Just think those were our brothers in those choppers. Some gave all so that we can be free. Peace brother.
Back in the day the tax man actually came to your door and went through your house making a value assessment of your property. Rich people would hide the good silver, art, furniture etc., so the tax man wouldn't assess so high and give them a bigger tax bill. Hence the "When the tax man come to the door, lord the house look like a rummage sale." line in the song.
I never knew that thank you 💯🤘
@@edwardomunoz9299 you're welcome😊
Thank god you get it everyone always misconstrues what that verse is about.
I never knew that either. Thanks!
@@williamlucas1124 you're welcome... Comes from being old and watching even older movies lol.
'Lookin' Out My Backdoor' would be a lighthearted followup
CCR has a unique sound man. I don't think anyone sounds like them. The got a lot of good tracks. 'Run through the Jungle' was always my favorite
Travellin Band is another classic rocker!!!
I don't know man, Clutch pretty well nailed this cover. ua-cam.com/video/F1DJFNSideQ/v-deo.html
The day I registered for the draft this song was on the radio..talk about art imitating life..or vice versa!
Among Vietnam vets "Fortunate son" and "We got to get out of this place" by the Animals were two songs which told the stone cold truth.
The best anti-war song ever. Fogerty's voice, powerful.
I really love how you want to understand the meaning of the lyrics. I really don't listen to those songs anymore, too hard.
The effects of the Vietnam War are still haunting those that served.
Appreciate you and glad you're back.
Cheers!
I love that you listen to the words and follow the story. You're great to watch.
Their most often overlooked & imo most beautiful song: "Long as I Can See the Light".
My all time favorite song is by Creedence- Have You Have Seen The Rain 🖤
Dude your reactions are priceless. Bring it my friend, bring it!!!
Grew up listening to this!! Thanks dad!👍💙
And just to let you know, they were the first to sing and play Proud Mary and was written by lead singer and lead guitar player John Fogerty. Glad you are back bud!
@ Vicky Ray: Totally agree! Let's start with 'Born On The Bayou' shall we? Hell, everything's good by CCR...
"run through the jungle " "green river" "born on the bayou" all short songs but oh so powerful
Yes sir the 70's has some hidden gems musically. This one is really good.
And I'm ashamed of a lot of people from my generation and the one before mine. Because in the 60's and 70's all of us had very specific idea about how we were supposed to treat each other. And now about half of us forgot that idea about loving and caring about each other. Now I see a lot of people my age that forgot about being a true human being. We all share this world and should take care of each other.
Every Vietnam War movie ever...
And GTA5
*but for some reason it never plays when you be flying a helicopter >:(
"Tomorrow never comes" is a good song about a soilders life from CCR.. It's very sad but true!
Love that song!!!😊🥰
Mr Video is just a baby! He ain't supposed to know about this stuff!
He needs to know bout it though.
@@moonshaddow55 There is too much about that time they don't even have songs about like why people like him always took point on patrol.
All young people need to know history so we are not too stupid to repeat it. Shows you how the world works today and how we got here. Cheers!
I remember the end of Viet Nam."police action." I was born in 1960. Lost.lots.of friends family members.
Hey, Mr. V. You like, I see. Try their songs "Bad Moon Risin'", "Around the Bend", "Out My Back Door", or their cover of "I Put A Spell On You". Top notch tracks. Still keeping that energy rolling. Keep going, man. 👍✌
I don’t believe you’ve never heard this song before. It’s a super popular song. It’s been in movies, video games, tv shows, the radio plays it sometimes. Maybe you’ve never really listened to the lyrics but you had to have heard this song somewhere already lol. It is a good anti war song. Please react to more Credence Clearwater Revival songs. They have a lot of good songs!
This is a protest song during the Vietnam War. When Some rich man’s son got deferrals but the common man’s son was drafted. Of course some went to Canada to dodge the draft. But there were a lot of rich kids that went and wanted to go. Every young man of 18 was required to serve at least 2 years in the military whether there was a war or not. Everyone got a draft card. When your number was called you had to go unless you were physically unfit to serve. Today the military is all volunteer. What does that say about those that ran away to Canada? Today’s soldier goes knowing they could be killed when they sign up and sign up anyway.
Of the kids that did go to Vietnam, their life expectancy was 2 weeks.
You keep doing what you doing man.
You’re gonna blow in this reaction business.
I promise you.
See you over 1mln mark.
I cant stop looking at the face in the pillow! Never go wrong with CCR! This song always plays at the bar at drunk o clock
John Fogerty is one of the very few to be in the top 50 in All Three: Song writers, Singers, and guitar playes...
Woo Hoo!!
Getting into CCR!!
I think you'll love em. 💕
Watching u is pure joy especially when u watch Queen. Try Sly and the Family Stone I want to take u higher but not the Woodstock video. Too many people cant hear it. God Bless u keep on truckin. Im 66 white and a rocker. Keeps the blood flowing
I can see the light .... BEST ONE THEY HAVE !! and that voice ...
“My boats sinking”...brilliant. A sub just for that alone....cheers
Laying in the sofa. Made me laugh so hard... smoking while listening to CCR, you’re doing it right
Oh my MOMMA will love this one!! I LOVE CCR - My mom used to play them around the house all the time!
Love CCR! They are so passionate. Also love Crosby Stills Nash and Young. Awesome 60’s rock.
They had so many hits in such a short period of time. I wish they were together longer. One of the best bands and John Fogerty is a legend
Love you!
Sweet!
You're just adorable. I've never had so much fun listening to music with someone.
You dont understand how much joy your music reactions give me!
I've been choosing for 50 years .l love your reactions laugh my are off LOVE
CCR is the best band to come out of the states in that era. Full stop.
Every song is a hit!! ❤ from 🇨🇦✌
My favourite band love CCR just listen to all there music it's magical
CCR....one of their best. And as for you, keep on keeping on! You are something to us all....
Loved it. I have a suggestion for the next time you feel down by the negative and haters...Nazareth "Hair of the Dog".
Nazareth .. so underated !!
I get chills thinking about you getting goosebumps watching Twisted Sister.....either I Wanna Rock or We're Not Gonna Take It.
Do it.
You know you want to.
Love Creedence! All their songs are great. Born on the Bayou and their covers of Heard it Through the Grapevine and I Put a Spell on You are some of my favorites. Of course, there are so many more! ♡
You are something special already! Putting smiles on people's faces is a gift and you got it. Hope it brings you wealth and happiness.
Great reaction CCR is one of the Bands I grew up listening to you can't go wrong with any song that you choose to listen to from them
One of my all time favorite groups! I love CCR 😀
CCR’s Proud Mary & Bad Moon Rising
My spoon was a plastic spork.
Yay your back sorry I'm trying to get caught up on the videos spent a couple days target shooting I live nextdoor to Portland Oregon it's crazy over there idk what is going to happen I'm just be prepared 😂
I here by make you an honorary Australian. You have all the characteristics of a good Aussie, sense of humour, open and honest, compassion, a sense of adventure and a touch of rebel. Welcome to the clan!
John Fogerty right on the money. This was a great band. I saw them live once and they were powerful and everybody was dancing. The show was at the Forum in Los Angeles (Inglewood) 1969. Hot concert!
CCR was amazing - they'd drop a single this good every two months or so. Over and over again. John Fogerty (singer, lead guitar, songwriter, producer) is still touring over 50 years later. I saw him summer before last and he still sounds that good. Pick any CCR song. Any one. They're all good.
Ooooooh! Listen to Some Kind Of Wonderful by Grand Funk Railroad!
I bet you’ll like that one. 😎❤️
These lyrics are timeless.
Big Mike - Playa Playa. He was with the Geto Boys. I loved those guys, man. ❤️
Definitely a great band
Easy to learn on guitar and sing to
Love this band one of my favorites
Australia 💕 Christina
Have you ever seen the rain” Lookin out my back door”. There fans call them CCR. They were the original ones to “Proud Mary” that Tina made famous🔥
one of my favorite bands of all time...
I love your humor and love you pausing and listening to the meaning of this song! The poor getting sent to war while the rich entitled stayed home..
Love these guys, keep up the good work
My favourite band! I can't pick a favourite song bc they're all BRILLIANT!
And when we ask Mr. Video how much CCR can he give? We all answer more, more, more!
John Fogerty didn't play this song live for years until a concert for Vietnam Veterans came around and he rocked it for them....the people that he wrote it for and he knew would truly appreciate it. I think many people love this song because not many of us in the USA are fortunate sons!!!!
Actually you're very fortunate. You have a gift. Thank you.
You ARE sum type of sumptin, Mr Video!!! Especially to us!! Thanks for ALL your reactions & for ALL the many smiles & laughs you bring to us!! 😊💓😊
I love when you rewind it to hear it again!
