Burnham is ten minutes from my house. You can see Hinckley point glowing in the darkness 😂

If you go to the other end of the sea front there's a lovely path that runs alongside the river to Apex Park; which is a great park, dominated by a lake with great crested grebes, swans & other birds.

Thank you Graham! That’s a fantastic suggestion. I have been along that path when I have done the parkrun which starts at Apex park, but I have not shown it as a walk for the channel. I will definitely do that. Thank you. Apex park is really lovely.

So many beach things to comment on!
Yes chips by the sea are the best!
And YES eating those chips without being attacked by seagulls is hard! And doing that all while filming is really tricky! I've been there 😉
Donkeys! I have always wanted to see donkeys on an English beach. But I haven't had the chance yet!
The beach looks lovely and quite big!
If someone tells you to take a long walk off of a short pier, I guess you should head to Burnham😂!
The nine legged lighthouse is very cool!❤Especially at sunset! 🌆
Well done with another lovely video, Louise!XX Dara

Looks like a gorgeous place by the sea. I love it when there's info boards with the history, and great idea with the QR codes too. I enjoyed seeing the hopping jellybeans - great description of them (I think they are sea lice?). The teens singing had me laughing, too. 😄 Ugh, mud can be so troublesome, I got stuck as a kid in some deep mud and my parents had to rescue me (good thing they were there!). Love the 9-legged lighthouse - very unique! Great walk, Louise.

    Another excellent production Louise.
The light at Burnham on Sea has a similar quality to the light at St. Ives - very clear with great colours.
I love that 9 legged lighthouse! There were lots of photographers there last time I was in Burnham.
Nice start to my relaxing Sunday.
    Take care,
    Paul

Thank you for sharing. Love the lighthouse. Beautiful weather for February. We have been enjoying the sun this week. Seeing the sea has made us want to visit the coast. We love a Heritage Trail. The pier looks beautiful. Thank you for taking us along. We enjoyed your day out. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️

Thank you Dave and Dawn! Yes, the lighthouse is lovely. I forgot to say in the video that it has been voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world.
The pier is cute. It has an slot machine arcade on it and also fish and chips and ice cream are sold from a kiosk there. That’s where I got my chips from.

I have never seen jumping jelly beans! I have just looked up that the Burnham area has 2 lifesaving hovercrafts, really sensible, you know yourself how treacherous the sands can be. That was a lovely walk, the sun was beautiful & the working lighthouse is quite charming.

I think they might be Sand Hoppers. I had not heard of them before. They are like fleas 🤣 Yes, tte sands can be really treacherous! I watched back my first video that I made there and the state of my shoes and socks!! Looked like lumps of mud or sand! Hoping for more sunshine soon, so I can make more sunny videos.

You were lucky to hold on to your chips! Enjoyed seeing Burnham, been there once but to the golf course so didn't see the front. Amazing weather for you, beach is like weston with the mud! A nice start to the day 😄

Thank you Caroline!! It’s lovely to have this beach just 30 minutes drive from where I live and an easy £2 bus ride.
Funnily enough seagulls were being chatted about on our local radio station this morning. I listened to sone funny stories of how they have stolen peoples food in various ways!

I think the jumping jellybean things are sea lice. Lovely video again and what a great old British coastal town! I remember your walk along here - I would love to do this one day ! And the views as the hovercraft went by and at the end with the sunset- just wow !! Also Louise you are an amazing photographer! 2025 calendar in the making ?

Hi Louise, that light house, never seen one like that before. You took some really great photos of it with the sunset. Well worth spending the time there. £2 to get there sounds a bargain.
I had a wooden fork ready to pinch one of your chips but all it seemed to do was stop the video!!
Interesting you should mention the pier being the smallest and then show a hovercraft. One of the small ones is Clarence pier in Southsea which is right by the small hard way where you can catch the hovercraft to go to the Isle of Wight. You definitely need to watch your step at Burnham
    All the best!!

Haha! That made me laugh when you mentioned the wooden chip fork at the ready! Thank you! It’s a really beautiful light house and so photogenic, especially with the sunset.🌅

We love Burnham, although I fell foul of the mud one year when taking my grandsons for a day on the beach . They were puddle-jumping and got stuck. I tried to pull them out and also got stuck, losing a shoe in the process. We had come on the bus but I couldn’t face going back covered in mud and with only one shoe! So my daughter drove out to rescue us. The experience left me rather traumatised! It happened near the pier, so I was rather worried for you while watching 😳
With regard to the “hopping jelly fish”: I remember seeing those little creatures on Nanjizal beach in Cornwall. Are they a type of shrimp or springtail?

    • @SouthWestSundays
      @SouthWestSundays  7 місяців тому

Oh Sue! Thanks for sharing this! What a story! It is so scary getting stuck in the mud! I was so concerned that I would have to call to be rescued when I went in when I filmed my first video there two years ago. I went for fish and chips afterwards in a cafe. Luckily I had a change of shoes in the car but I had to deal with the embarrassment of muddy leggings! 🤣. That’s great that your daughter was able to drive over and rescue you.
Regarding the hopping jellyfish, another subscriber has commented on the South West Sundays Facebook group that they are sand hoppers. I must read up about them. They were very hoppy like fleas 🤣

Luckily it hasn’t put me off visiting Burnham; it’s a wonderful place for a long walk. We keep near the dunes though! I’m always amazed at the people walking way out on the shoreline, very brave 😊@@SouthWestSundays
