I found a hill/bank the Ventrac just could not climb...just WAY too steep for it...

The challenge is not over Pete. Your Ventrac can still defeat that challenge ... you just need the Ventrac Boom Mower !!! I think Ventrac should loan you one to showcase what it can do there 😎.
Well Pete time for the 'boom' attachment for your Ventrac
Pete you will have to get the new boom ventrac mower arm
You’ll never how far you can take, until you take it to far! Love ya buddy! God Bless!
Hallelujah!!!!!
Wednesday saw a video
Thursday spoke to factory
Friday spoke to representative
Demo to be scheduled
Thank you LORD of lord
Amen
I use a Steiner and whenever the front wheels start to slide on a steep hill like that I take the deck off of float and raise it a tiny bit to put the weight back on the front tires, works all the time for me👍 I love your videos to keep it up
Just Colin I tried that. Still slips
Good ole North Carolina. I live in North western NC I so want to get a Ventrac because I keep sliding down these steep mountain yards no matter how carefully I try not too haha.
That is really an impressive mower. WOW! Thanks for sharing.
7:07 we noticed Pete's head given approval & 7:11 he erupts with a Yeah! Ventrac for the win! Let's Go!!!!
#getyourproteinright #buglife That has happened to every country guy in the world. UA-cam advisor: "No Pete was harmed during the filming of this video" 😂😂😂😂😂
Good job Pete. I love that Ventrac!
Still very impressive. Have a good weekend, Pete!
I've used the Ventrac HD mower on highway slope jobs, so can appreciate the challenge you show in this vid. Not sure I'd mow with a bunch of spectators this close to the mower, though. Agree the boom mower would make it easier for you, but if your budget is like mine it's hard to rationalize the cost of the boom mower so you make do with what you got. I get it. Enjoy the Ventrac.
Team work makes the dream work!
That is an awesome machine Pete!
Pete love the videos and I'm very smitten with your Ventrac
Your videos are always entertaining. Lol
First Aussie 😁. You gave it a red hot go. Versatile machine there Pete. 😁👍👍
Awesome, Thanks for sharing!!
NCHP is going to be upset that you’re cutting down their hiding spot, lol! The Ventrac handled a lot more of that area than I thought it would. Great video, and as always, Go Wildcats!
I bet that trooper was asking to leave a bit of grass to put his Charger behind
Hey Pete, this is George from Ohio, hope you having a great day😎👊
If you tilt the camera you can mow it flat 👍🏻
Hey Pete great Job. As I was watching this video I was thinking, "Damn I Need A Ventrac." Hopefully One day I will be able to get one but not today I won't be. Great Video.
The deweeze hillside mower would make quick work of that grade
when we have hills like at we mow straight up and back down on our zmasters. Im interested if a walk behind could hold that hill. I think the weight on that machine is what is keeping it from running up that hill. Nice work mr. Pete.
Get em boys! 👮
It still did really good munching and climbing😎👊
Great video and test
impressive machine you got there
Those high weeds are like driving on small logs.
I just started to subscribe to your channel because how you gave thanks to God in one of your videos not a lot of people do so. I’ll send this to all my friends to get you more subscribers man great content!
I wouldn’t say u have no clue of what you’re doing. I’m just saying that mowing slopes takes seat time. I’ve been mowing over 41 years and I assure u my butt was puckered up for awhile on steep slopes until I built up my confidence. It’s all about knowing your machine and trusting it. I think the ventrac has a lot of potential. Keep up the good work..!!
Cr500rider 😎
city workers here in Ohio are using remote control just seen first one yesterdayIt was taken down everything off the hill
Pete, I have a very similar bank on my property. My advantages begin with mine being along a private road where I can back out onto the road and get a straight shot down into the ditch and then up the bank. I have a couple of rock outcrops that I can not cover along it and a natural spring that will (has) swallowed the Ventrac. I do get the overhang from above. My second advantage is that I have ballasted the tires such that they weigh 56# more each. I could not see your weight transfer setting, I run mine full on when doing such slopes and I set the cutting height to about 5+ inches. I do have the boom mower, I am not impressed on a cost/benefit basis. I have extra the float features and they DO NOT work as Ventrac intended and my dealer said Ventrac admitted that to him when we could not get it to function fully. I use it, it saves me some work; but even though I am not John Henry, I can take a commercial Red Max weed eater and out work that boom mower anyday. I can NOT imagine using it without ballasted duals,on the tractor it would be very tipsy when extended. Make sure you test it on banks, ditches, and overhangs before you throw down that amount of cash. Ventrac is great company, but there are limitations.
My brother I know that's 4' tall weeds and trees but between 96 & 98 a Texaco in Kansas City with strictly grass was handled by two 50" Gravely Walk Behinds. It's a nightmare walking it but they were belt driven and you held the upper break half closed to keep it on the hill. Yes it was stupid but when you are 16 & 20 you were a little wreckless back in them days.
Kamikaze bug trying to take you out!!! Lol that’s a steep hill. I think I puckered up just watching you. Stay safe and keep the videos coming. About to start a new yard. All red clay after the dozer clearing the trees. I’ll ordering your products and grass seed soon
Good job.
There comes a time when you have to park the fancy machines and pull out the machete and manually cut it down like they had to 100 years ago. At least the fancy machine got 80% of it. Nice job Pete.
Pete did you say in another video you where working on a Kentucky blue grass seed mix?
Need to install a slope gage. I have one on mine
Did you have full weight transfer on??
Get a slopemetre for your phone
Have you mowed retention/detention ponds with the Ventrac?
Saw a guy drive by me recently with 2 of these bad boys on a trailer. Would love to have one
I gotta get me one of these
i ran a ventrac for greenscape here in Iowa it's a blast to run know exactly what you are talking about
Pete...enjoy your content. Keeper going! Curious what you use for trailer security; ball coupler et cetera. Thanks
B Pest Control yep. We use a ball coupler on all the trailers
Hey Pete, you got a wife that concerns a about your safety. I would not do that because I live on flat land. Thank you for sharing.
Impressive
good video
Pete, are you using the weight transfer option? it is supposed to put roughly 1/2 the weight of the mower on the front wheels of the VENTRAC giving you better traction on slopes.
It's not about whether it can do it...is the oil still getting to engine. We have a 93 steiner(since new), 2004 Ventrac and a 2020 4500...the weakest link is always the engine...and what day it was built. Tractors are a beast.
Have you moved the weight distribution around at all? It helps when mowing the slopes side ways to move the weight to the front wheels
Dmd3058 you know. I did not even think about that! I’ll have to find out the best position and then go back and try it again. Thx!
Need some rear ballast and or rim guard in the tires. Weight and low center of gravity would help with traction and the pucker factor. :D
Locally the owners of Ventrac's run ag or bar type tires and fluid for slopes.
A small boom bush hog would be the bomb for this machine
Do you have the slope indicator on the Ventrac? If not you should. It will tell you what degrees you are driving on and the digital one has a beeper to tell you when you are at max capable slope.
enginemonkey32 yes. I do. Just have not had time to install it
Yeah, you did great, still,I've seeing tractors with like three mowers behind, one in the center, two on each side of that center that will do this in two passes, one pass with the tractor in the lower side with one wing per se up, then with the tractor on top of the little hill and one wing down. But for now, you did great!
Maybe you can get State Highway Maintenance to get some heavy equipment to cut off the top in a angle.
00:10I thought you were gonna get shot 😂😂
Do you have the weight distribution set correct on that? Also mess with the tire pressure a little bit
I mean "weight transfer"
Hey Pete, you should change the title to "Mowing steep highway ditches", you might get more people to find this video when they search for it. Cool stuff! Something we don't see often.
I tackle stuff like that with my exmark push it to the limit ✌️
Watch out for them tasty bugs! They get you every time lol
Hey Pete, it's a little awkward but you can go backwards and it doesn't crab as bad
Probably approaching it at 45 degree angle would still be a bit too dangerous huh? Could use a hand held bush wacker? Anyway, glad no one was hurt. Thanks and God bless! 😁
Embankments in GA are the same way. The ol'boys around here use a skidsteer mower to reach over the edge and drive up the face from below. It is not a finish cut, more like a bushhog.
Yeah that's real steep I don't blame you not cutting on that hill
Im telln you Pete, you can finish 540 with that ventrac😎👊
I know right where that is. Live in Eden
I thought that woman was pointing a rifle at you. Ha! I wonder if that flail mower would be good for a job like this? I see ventrac makes a MA 900 boom mower for reaching out and getting that steeper stuff. Like to see you make a video on that. I've got a lot of steep stuff I need to mow
You can get a slope app on your phone
Hey everyone I hope everyone is reflecting on Our Soldier’s who can’t be home for Memorial Day. Without the Soldier’s before them we wouldn’t have a Memorial Day weekend! Thank you to all Soldiers Active and retired for your service. Isn’t that tractor designed to be able to attack really steep hills by cutting it in the steepest position forward and reverse the opposite of how you’re cutting with cutting sideways or doggassed. Try hitting the steepest parts of that hill straight on you might be surprised! Whatever you feel you can handle safety trump’s all else no matter what you can’t compare a tracker to a human life. But this has to be the closest by far lol!
Hey Pete I would lime to get a bag of your Lawn seeds
Pete if you check out my lawn tour you'll see I got a hill that's pretty close to that. I mow with my push mower.
Lazy Lawns the camera doesn’t do this justice sir. A push mower will flip over on this slope. It’s mechanically impossible to mow this with a push mower.
That Ventrac is still a serious piece of machinery. However, the Ventrac boom mower would knock that other stuff out.
Pete, you should'a just hit that hill Dukes of Hazard style!!!
All kidding aside, could you have looped around from the top and gone down hill?
Hey Pete, Was the State Police planning to give you a ticket for improper mowing? :)
I think the operator is the limiting factor here. That machine should handle all of that. I’ve mowed up to a 32% slope with my 72” ztr. .. traversing it. You just have to push it on across and hold your momentum.
Cr500rider true. I have no clue what I’m doing
Lol I've done a good bit worse than that to hell i mow the third steepest dam in georgia in the neighborhood i work for
Hey Pete, what engine and hp does your machine have?
Steve D. Mine is The kubota gas. I think it’s 31hp.
That is so darn steep, a couple times on film you can tell its not that far from verticle lol
Put some ATs on that piece. The tires make all the difference.
After having one on our farm for over 3 years i can definitely say that you couldnt pay me to buy another ventrac.
What problems did u have?
Sections of that hill look at least 45 degrees
It wouldn't go straight up or straight down?
Alex Ecklund 6:27 To answer your question. I was wondering the same thing as well lol 😂
Watch your hand on the control, let it in float with your hand on it you don't realize that pushing while in float.
I wish someone would make a camera that would actually show how steep a hill is I have a rock crawler on video it doesn't look like the hill isn't nothing but it really is and I guess you like your bugs raw lol
It’s limits are the sick diesel the EPA makes them use now. Paying that much for a lawnmower with a engine that has the short life of a gas engine is ruining this great business. It’s the reason I don’t own one. If they would have said turn it back up and we won’t cancel your warranty like another company said I would have bought it. Instead they told me the Deisel was gutless now and don’t buy it, honest but doesn’t help much.
Why not mow., A few passes down below then drive over the hill?
Go get the boom mower.
Pete, were you shooting a Ventrac commercial while mowing this ditch and hill? :-) Maybe you should send this video to Ventrac and challenge them to make a Ventrac tractor that can comfortably and safely mow this hill without putting the driver at risk. Also, apparently the civil engineers designing this road did not think about being able to safely cut the grass on that hillside and make the slope of that hill shallower. Pere, your wife did a fine job helping with the recording of this video.
come from the top, drop the mower over the edge keeping the machine semi level.
👍
All those tall weeds are milkweed. Habitat for the endangered monarch butterfly.
....My wife noticed that, too.
That milkweed will come back and with a vengeance.
Pete's gonna buy a SHERPA and attach a mower to it now. This just won't do.
To boldly mow where no man has mowed before
North Carolina state trooper right
What can a ventrac not do I bet it also makes toast and can grill a steak
If it can make toast and grill steak I want one of those lol
Looks like at least 45 degree!
Start by mowing up high and work your way down
