One of the better video's, You explained the re-torque for the make and year, 80lbs & 26lbs That helps alot, as well as that only the top slide pins has that boot. I was wondering why my replacement kit only had 2 slid pin boot tips, instead of 4 You Rock !
Great work. I noticed a lot of the male viewers had a lot of criticisms that aren’t on the vids for the male demonstrators for 1A Auto. You showed clearly what needs to be done and explained things thoroughly. Thanks a ton!
Wow, i like what you did , i hope every mechanic does that , you did so much detail and took your time to do it perfectly. I am fixing to go get her Honda accord 2007 that needed some break job, i don't know what to ask if he did it or not , but he is Larry and been my mechanic for last 20 years on a Lexus and Honda.... Tks for the video and great job on the break. 👍✌
Very good instructional video. Curious what "anti-seize" spray lubricant you used on the wheel hub at the 10:25 mark...does it need to be a high heat product or just a rust preventative?
While either way will work, the way she did it is precisely RIGHT! If the brake master cylinder reservoir is full then pressing the piston in can result in overflow of brake fluid from the master cylinder getting all over the chassis paint underneath the master cylinder. If this is not thoroughly cleaned immediately, the brake fluid will remove the chassis paint! Best to stay with the way she did it. ASE Master Tech.
Out of curiousity, why do you loosen the caliper bleeder screw when compressing the piston? I've never seen it done this way, always seen others open the cap on the brake cylinder to relieve the pressure
I'm confused about the silicone paste. The slider screws when you removed them had grease, and the presenter said previously that whoever did the brakes put too much grease in or didn't change it at all. You then apply the silicon paste to the bottom side of the tins when installing them back onto the caliper, which leads me to believe this paste has hold to it. Why then did you put it in the slider pin, which I assume needs to slide, and before had grease, which doesn't hold, like I assume the silicon paste does. Is the silicon paste a lubricant?
No not needed. The caliper is already rusted and if you spray paint it will continue to rust and swell under the paint. Simply do as she did and remove any loose rust and clean it thoroughly with brake cleaner. Apply a thin coating of silicone grease on the clean surface and install the brake tin.
Great video, one question, I noticed that the two crosspoint screws on the rotor are missing. Did you take them off prior or are they unnecessary? I have ordered a special JIS bit to remove them, rather than strip out the heads. Thanks for your response.
Lol they said don't use a grinding wheel to remove hub rust, clearly you've never been in the rust belt 😂 those wire brushes are useless to a 12 y/o car around here
To reduce the possibility of internal rusting of the steel brake lines, the brake master cylinder and caliper piston. The brake fluid should be changed once per year normally about 12-15K miles. Since brake fluid absorbs moisture very easily (it is hydroscopic) it is important to flush out the entire old brake fluid with new brake fluid otherwise you risk major repair expenses down the line. Once the brake fluid is replaced, you will notice a real improvement in braking with your vehicle. ASE Master Tech.

It is Honda recommended that the caliper to knuckle bolts be replaced when the caliper is serviced. I believe the new ones have some dry locking compound on them.
Are yall in Illinois/Indiana at all? ... out here, no one does it like this, not even pepboys, midas or meineke. They're all money grabbing goblins & leprechauns (look like them too). I need my entire suspension inspection, re-secured/re-installed (new bushings/enforcements) or just replaced - or a mix of whatever is best. It'll cost but I need someone to work on it as if it was THEIR baby. Out here, the customer is a fool with pockets. Just a tip I've learned is to spray fluid film on the bracket under the clips to prevent rust build up. I used to use zmax. Nice quality video.
Best job on breaks I have ever seen. Thank you

Yesterday I installed pads but I saw they were so ugly lol
Why did you open bleeder to compress piston?
Always great videos!

Question? Why did you loosen the brake caliper bleeder screw when pushing the piston back in. I normally just remove the brake filler cap instead.
+Roland Gadue Either way should work just fine! 1aauto.com
@@1AAuto do you need to bleed the brakes after??
@@Dadbar13 yes.

+Long Nguyen Thanks for watching! You can do it either way, so if you are more comfortable with taking off the cylinder cap then that works too!
To get rid of the "cooked" brake fluid in the caliper. It gets the "worst" of the heat constantly.

Could I paint the part even under the tins by the boots with rust resistant paint?
No not needed. The caliper is already rusted and if you spray paint it will continue to rust and swell under the paint. Simply do as she did and remove any loose rust and clean it thoroughly with brake cleaner. Apply a thin coating of silicone grease on the clean surface and install the brake tin.
Do I get these exact tools? I can’t find the last tool or the impact driver
Just swapped out the rear rotors and pads on my wife's car the rear caliper twisted in, will that be the same on the front?
Nice. 👌🏼👍

what if you need to replace rusted out calipers too?

Why did you introduce air to brake by opening bleeders?
Lol they said don't use a grinding wheel to remove hub rust, clearly you've never been in the rust belt 😂 those wire brushes are useless to a 12 y/o car around here
The caliper mounting slider bolts aren’t 12 mm and I have the exact same car you’re using for this video.
I just changed the front brake pads and rotors on an '06 Accord EX a couple of hours ago. My caliper mounting slider bolts were 12 mm.
The link to the Torque Wrench is not the same torque wrench you are using. : (
do you have to bleed it?
+Levi Thanks for watching! A gravity bleed should be sufficient for this repair!

Always use safety glasses! If you get any fluid or rust in your eyes you will never be without them again!
The brake pads have to have that curve for the Accord or else you’ll hear a grinding noise
Wym??
I notice that when I did my rear pads. That went away after a few thousand miles though. Also didn't effect stopping.
We're just gonna skip over the pain in the ass removal of those set screws?
yeah I like to show my grandaughters how women can do the same work.
