I always enjoy the walks, as you might know we are still in lockdown & unable to go anywhere. It's nice to be out with you seeing nature in the winter & finding things to explore.

That culvert was covered in nature's carpet. Nice spot. I liked the log cabin hunting lodge too. A while back a bought a t shirt with the blue train on it with blue tye dye. It's nice. 👍👍👍

mate i had to rewatch this, the cabin was a sweet little find i love log cabins even this tiny hobbit one, the old stone tunnel looked incredible mate worth the effort in searching for it, Still love the old concreate water way not something you expect to see way out in the woods, brilliant walk, brilliant find and all round amazing day cheers for taking us along,.
I've often thought of making a version of a long board with 8" pneumatic tires to explore storm drains. Back in my 40's I thought it was fun to explore them.
I've got a whole bunch of old mine maps for luzerne county all of them at least 100 years old. And by a lot I mean at least 75 or 80. Most of them are so old they are drawn on paper that has so much cloth in it that where there were small rips they sewed them back together.
@@mgratk No I haven't, I haven't even unrolled all of them yet. A lot of them are big, like three or four feet wide and 8 ft long. I started to try to figure out how they would lay out like on a big map of the area. One problem is I'd have to make a giant map to lay them out on. The other problem is some of them are at different elevations. So some maps would be on top of other maps. Basically they dug tunnels below other tunnels going every which way. I'll tell you what;, in a lot of areas there is more space underground than there is on the surface
@@JPVideos81 just curious, this is kind of a related subject. Do you know about the shepton mine disaster? Where are those guys were bootlegging coal and had a cave in trapping them? The two guys that survived swore that Pope John the 23rd came to them and help them survive. They were underground a couple weeks I think. When the Vatican had its beautification of John the 23rd to make him a saint that was brought up as a possible miracle that he performed imagine that they sat around the Vatican and discussed trapped miners from shepton. I think it was definitely a miracle that they knew where they were and drilled a hole like 300 ft down and it came within feet of where they were trapped. I'd love to know how they figured that out for guys who were underground bootlegging coal and not making maps are keeping records of where they were digging. Old timers told me that Al Roman was a guy who decided where to drill the hole. I think he worked for pagnotti at the time, but later on he was number one contracting

Hi Jay, did you see that hole in the rock that may be a potential cave, I'm not sure as it's hard to discern if it's a hole or just shadows but it's on the opposite side of the water to you at the 11 o'clock position at 28:44 in the video. I'm really intrigued now as to what you couldn't show lol. The way the flume was broken creating those mini waterfalls was really awesome to see. This used to be a big mining area. One thing that is often used with coal mining is water. The hill on top had a rail line, so they diverted the water to specific locations and at the same time, helped prevent erosion.
Check out DD EXPLORES. She has some videos (go back 4 or 5 yrs) about mining in PA & the pollution it caused. The pollution is flowing into the Susquehanna River & then into the Chesapeake Bay. That mine run off is still happening. Don't know if you were/are in that part of PA. Those concrete culverts you found make me wonder.
I'm doing a video on acid mine drainage. There's a large bore hole in lackawanna county (lackawanna river) thats flowing orange and spills into the susquehanna. I've also done some of the mine tours. Fascinating history. Thanks for stopping by.

Hey everyone. We are back sort of. Its been a real bad month. We went out to celebrate my birthday Jan. 9th. Three days later we all started with flu like symptoms. Covid is hell. The pain is un bearable. Trying to keep my copd under control so I don't end up on a ventilator. I was a nurse and hated that part of nursing. We got tested got results Monday morning. Got off the phone with Dr. Phone rings again . Doug's brother Joe Arnold passed away during the night. He was 66. Complications of Diabetes. I was close to my brother 8n law. We had our moments but we always made up. We laughed we cried. Then today I found out a dear friend of mine is dying . Hey we could use some funny jokes and stories. Worst part we are quarantine until next Fri. No saying goodbye to Joe Im glad the weather hasn't been bad. Spending time just sitting on our patio covered in blankets. I feel so bad for my hubby. 8 got to say goodbye he didnt. Sorry this is depressing. You guys always know what to say. Had to get this out.

Just a dark over hang. There were lots of spots that looked like it could be something. The area i couldn't show was related to mines.

Hey everyone. We are back sort of. Its been a real bad month. We went out to celebrate my birthday Jan. 9th. Three days later we all started with flu like symptoms. Covid is hell. The pain is un bearable. Trying to keep my copd under control so I don't end up on a ventilator. I was a nurse and hated that part of nursing. We got tested got results Monday morning. Got off the phone with Dr. Phone rings again . Doug's brother Joe Arnold passed away during the night. He was 66. Complications of Diabetes. I was close to my brother 8n law. We had our moments but we always made up. We laughed we cried. Then today I found out a dear friend of mine is dying . Hey we could use some funny jokes and stories. Worst part we are quarantine until next Fri. No saying goodbye to Joe Im glad the weather hasn't been bad. Spending time just sitting on our patio covered in blankets. I feel so bad for my hubby. 8 got to say goodbye he didnt. Sorry this is depressing. You guys always know what to say. Had to get this out.
