Hello sir, Siemens power deal is still on course, the thing is government things use to slow, especially when it comes to pannership with other countries. Here's the good news, yesterday 16th of Dec, 2021 Buhari approve the first face of the PPI, that's to upgrade power distribution to 7000MW by 2023, then 25,000MW 2025. Buhari os determine to achieve success in the power sector, that's why to hear about the people sacked in the various segments and of the sector. I do not think there is anything to worry about. It didn't just start on time, sure work will begin by 2022, and Nigeria wins!

@@tayokarate That worked with the Chinese, because they do not really have a colonial mentality...They may be greedy and shaddy, but only if your open up yourself to that area...I can bet you my life savings that NO EUROPEAN country, company or Organization, like Siemens of Germany, would ever agree to transfer their technology to any developing country, especially in the area of energy. That is why they wouldn't even do the deal for 20% local content, especially in Nigeria of all places. they know we are very smart people and giving away 40%/50% was like giving their meal ticket to their subordinates. That is the issue here...Who in their right mind, would ignore a $6.5bn deal, just because of location where some critical equipment's would be manufactured. Is it not here the equipment's are really needed? They don't want us to empowered, at their own expense...But the Chinese are different.

The Federal Government yesterday hinted that the stalled Siemens deal between the Nigerian government and German counterpart was back on stream.
Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar Aliyu last Thursday gave the hint at the Maiden Annual Workshop of the Power Correspondents Association of Nigeria (PCAN) in Abuja. By "TheFact" Nigeria of 12th Dec. 2021
Abubakar Aliyu, minister of power, says the Siemens AG power project will commence in the first quarter of 2022.

The local content rule is essential- how all developed countries developed. Siemens isn't the only company with such expertise. What about Chinese contractors, who are more willing to negotiate? This is why Africans must obtain knowledge & skills in every critical sector- even if it means studying abroad & coming back- so as not to be dependent on foreign expertise.

Thank you NedMedia. Siemens is a leading electricity generation and transmission company in the world. It is very disheartening to hear the contract fell through and the genuine effort at long last to solving the perennial problem came to nothing. We, Nigerians, cannot be completely disappointed since we have one of the inputs to solving the problem. Maybe we should instead be fairly optimistic knowing the genuine clamp of our government on vested interests marks a change we have been longing in pushing back those evil manipulators that has since been the source of our problem in the first place. The problem begun and persisted over the years due to internal vested interests, a segment of the huge corruption network in the country, the cancer that has slowly been killing the country, reaping huge gains from the our mysteries. Then, there is another fact. Europeans and their western counterparts like USA, Canada and Japan, under any circumstance, would not take steps that may transfer even the most basic technology know-how to any African Origin countries. African-Origin countries are countries govern or whose populations are predominately from Africa. We knew it happened when we wanted to build Ajaokuta steel manufacturing factory and it happened recently when African countries requested the basic ingredient for covid-19 vaccine manufacture. Awarding a Lagos -Calabar coastal road that would cost a whooping $11 billion whereas half the amount could be invested into a power project that would increase our electricity MVA to 25000 is just beyo d my comprehension.

i am an electrican from a colony on the other side of the world.knowledge is key.Theres a thing called Ampere squared resistance losses, are you bored now. This means to get power generated in the south to the north on transmission lines the losses will be half-100 megawatts in-50 megawatts out. What do you do to fix this.Buharis akk gas pipeline.A gas line will get 100% of its energy to where the electrical energy is used so thats where you put the gas generators.SECONDLY Discos shound have a ripple control to turn off water heaters and equipment during high peak times that they control to stop expensive overloading. Two different prices ,off peak / peak. Then youve got money for extending and efficiencies. No need to wait for oil prices to go up or politicans.

    HOWEVER
Like da video suggests, Nigeria (if serious) should have come up with all the working capital that Siemans needs so that Siemans won't be dictating for da country.
I don't know how shoody and shady agreements are made before announcing and embarking on projects of this magnitude. Every party shoulda known transparently their limits and boundaries so there won't be any delays or stoppages or cancellations of the project altogether.

We must never give any Western country or their multinational companies 75 percent of their demands for any business deal. We must never sign a business deal that does not favour our country. It is good that this deal did not fall into place. The deal wasn’t favourable for Nigeria. Nigerian cities must start to bury these unsafe visible electricity poles and wires that has made our cities to start looking ugly. Bury the wires and plant trees in their place instead. We must get alternative funding routes for national projects of this magnitude. Our collective billionaires should fund this with profits for then. Nothing good can still come out of the Buhari administration at this late point in time. He did a lot of good deeds and ruined them with his tribalism and protection of his non Nigeria terrorist Fulani ethnic groups destroying Nigerian communities and destabilising our diverse political system in the process. I like the fact that our military are now manufacturing their own equipments and vehicles for a change and we must commercialise them for African countries. I like the fact that our navies are now building their own ships. The next administration must develop the capabilities to build war planes and air craft carriers in the next 8 years. We need at least 2 dozen aircraft carrier groups in 24 years time. We need new fleets of war planes to defend and protect West African from those aggressors from across Mediterranean Sea. African must start to protect Africa so we can send these foreign bases back to where they came from. Nigeria must build more hydroelectric power Dams along the river Niger and then invest heavily in solar energy in the desert wastes lands of Northern Nigeria and that should solve the epileptic electric supply problems in Nigeria. Nigeria must grant scholarships to hundreds of Nigerian youths up to masters degree levels to study electric engineering technology related courses to improve the talent in the work force and the nation must own this industry again. Make it work for Nigerians. It can be done and it’s not difficult at all. We just need a new group of hard working and focused socialist patriots running Nigeria and not democratic despots.

Are the new railway lines and stations and trains subject to local content? Were those trains manufactured in Nigeria?

@Emmanuel Agbo Currently, centralised power distribution isn't working. It hasn't worked for decades. Common sense suggests trying something more manageable.
As for the railway stations, tracks, carriages etc. Okay, for argument sake they achieved the 40% local content.
Surely, the cement and roads and fencing can be handled locally, but the "technical part" can be left to Siemens engineers.

@Emmanuel Agbo thank you for your courteous response.
With my experience of the Yoruba people. I have observed that they are progressive, educated and dynamic. No doubt they will face power outages in the short term. However, I'm sure they will be able to "turn the situation" around quickly.
People need to be empowered to "take ownership of the problem". Then the people of the SW will know who is responsible and bring "pressure to bare on the situation".
Right now everybody's power problem is "lost" in some secretariat in Abuja being managed by a compromised individual.
Once The SW, SS(Niger Delta) and SE are "up and running" the slower regions will pressurise their rulers to "do something about it". The country is meant to be "federation" after all. It's not China where everything where everything is dictated from the centre.
Then regions/zones can arrive at a solution far more quickly than the unwieldy and slow moving federal authorities.

Again.. while also NOT paying for the work, but wanting the company to pay themselves.
If this was your company, why would you do that? I this was your company, you would do exactly like Siemens, and say NO

Why cant nigeria jettison this complex national grid that puts everywhere in darkness once it collapses and decentralize power. Why cant nigeria transmit gas to cluster power plants instead of electricity that u have to build expensive towers, pay for right of way and deal with vandalism. Take an energy audit of the various States and build power plants accordingly. then step down and distribute.

    • @Damian_S_
      @Damian_S_ 2 роки тому

But the same leaders end up going to the “colonisers” to educate their children, for medical treatment, hide their stolen cash in their banks, and buy houses in the coloniser’s country….then they feed ordinary Nigerians who are suffering a story of protecting them from colonialism….my friend - wake up.
We don’t have the skills or capacity to solve our power problems - we need Siemens more than they need us - that local content demand of 40 or 50% is unrealistic.
