Samsung Galaxy A55 Hands-On: Premium Looks, Solid Performance

- Опубліковано 25 бер 2024
- Samsung's Galaxy A55 is a mid-range phone with the Exynos 1480, 6.6-inch OLED screen, and a solid 50-megapixel main camera. It's the first Samsung A phone to get an all glass and metal build and Samsung Knox. There's a 5,000 mAh battery and IP67 water and dust resistance.
The phone won't sell in the US but it's selling in Hong Kong starting at HK$3,400 and in Europe starting at about equivalent of 400 euro.

Great content and hand on video as always Ben's brother
Good video. Non biased. You’ve said everything
I am that casual user that want a good looking phone. That's for me then.
Galaxy A5 was alluminium, the whole phone. A5 2016 was alluminium with glass back and A5 2017 and A8 2018 were not only alluminium and glass but also IP68.
The bezels are huge compared to nothing 2a and redmi note 13 pro.
Not the first time remember the A5 2016 and the A5 2017
Yep thought the same
Hey Ben. Greetings from England. Are you going to do a more in depth review of the Infinix note 40 pro plus?
Most likely, when it's near launch.
Thx! A55 128gb in Europe Samsung Shop-app 449,- but with 50 euro discount and Galaxy Buds FE for free (75 euro). So you're actually paying 325,- 🎉
@ben'sgadgetreviews Is the silver ring still on the selfie hole punch like previous a series ?
No
I prefer plastic with Snapdragon, than Aluminum with Exynos, virtual proximity "sensor", and those screen bezels 👎
Wich phone has best camera from Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and Huawei latest releases?
flagships : vivo x100 pro, xiaomi 14 ultra, oppo find x7 ultra and Huawei p60 pro
midrange: vivo v30/v30 pro, xiaomi 13t/13t pro, oppo reno 11 pro
whats so bad about plastic? I like the plastic back from my S20 FE 5G more than glass.
Sir can you review the Xiaomi Civi 4 pro and Oneplus Ace 3V and how about the User experience the camera's, Os Support and performance of this devices thanks Regards form the philippines.
And it has band N71, right?
Samsung Galaxy A5 have an aluminium frame but a plastic back.
It's a good phone, but the Nothing 2a, OnePlus Ace 3V or even the Google Pixel 8a should be better options with superior hardware and cameras unless you just dislike Chinese brands for political or whatever reasons.
Nothing is British, Google is from US, and that OnePlus doesn't even ring a bell, never heard of. Can you buy that in Europe? It's not about disliking Chinese brands, it's the fact that Chinese phones are not easy to find and buy. And even if you buy one, if it breaks, the guy at the repair shop will look at you like you're an alien. This is the advantage Samsung has. And Ben mentions in the video
Honestly I'd love to go with a Xiaomi again here in the US, I've loved my Mi9T, but the reception sucks probably because it's a phone meant for the European and Chinese market. I'll probably go with a midrange Samsung for my next phone because I want to go with a company with a refined software experience and I don't want to own a Google phone, I don't want that company controlling my experiences any more than it already does (plus, I just hate the hardware design of Google phones now, their last good hardware design was the Pixel 5)
Plus, the midrange Samsung phones have expandable storage which I am sorely lacking in my Mi9T!
Hardware, yes, software definitely no and most important think long customer support
Better buy at sales or a S23 deal for the price. Even this will discounted to 350$ soon.🙂
a54 also has a glass back
This phone cannot complete with Chinese mid range phones. But in the western. Market, it'd be a totally different story.
About £400 cheaper than the S24 and comparing specs, for most Samsung users the A55 will be a solid choice, especially in Europe where both use Exynos and we know from history that the mid-range Exynos chips are more stable than the flagship versions.

@@Phoenix56801 Haha, I know from him Twitter as well. I find his comments in lots of tech videos
Galaxy A5 2017 had aluminum frame
A3 2016 did as well 😊
thickkkkkk bazels 😅
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This A55 is very very heavy. A smartphone must be less than 200 gm.
Nothing 2a ate all phone designs this year..... don u feel u in stone age seeing such designs
Is this Nothing 2A competitor.
Close, but Nothing 2A is cheaper at $350 USD, OnePlus 12 is more expensive at $500 USD. Samsung A55 is $420 USD, Xiaomi pro+ around $360
@@yensteelIn some countries, the 256gb A55 is just $20 more than the Nothing phone 2a 256gb.😅
A mid-range phone this expansive and still no telephoto lens. What a waste.
If they add tele lens it will be 5 mega pixel
Honestly at this point Samsung mid-range phones are only worth it when their price drops when the next is about to come out
no ones care
S23 FE kills it.
They better stop the A series and just launch S FE series instead.
A phone at this price with a telephoto lens? For what? It would be crappy anyway.
S20fe5g with charger Samsung 15w. Haha acceptable. 1 hour charged 85%
1) EXPENSIVE for midrange! The previous (A54) was sold for about 100$ less. That's insane increase in price for midrange.
2) No telephoto because it will kill the sales of the S series.
3) The ONLY thing that keeps Samsung above Xiaomi is the fact when it comes to the OS Xiaomi is HORRIBLE. I know people who bought the Xiaomi 14 and selling it because of the OS. Samsung are superb when it comes to OS updates and fixing bugs. Chinese brands are notorious for failing to do so.
4) And finally - Bluetooth does not support Snapdragon's APT-X HD etc codecs which leaves you with low-quality audio playback, unless you buy the expensive Samsung earbuds.
everyone knows how expensive samsung is... yet people buy them just because of familirity and brand loyalty. like ben said, mostly for casual people unless you are a smartphone enthusiast and you care about specs
Over priced for the screen and processor. Demo showed it's not worth it
They are selling it for brand name.
@@ThiHaGadgets they are selling software.
@@lekejoshua4402 I will rather go for Pixel phones if I'm into the software.
@@lekejoshua4402 true if you like their skin and support.
I came from 2018 to complain about lack of the jack.
Thanks for listening
Exynos processor? No thanks. Look how weak the Google Tensor G3 processor is because it is made by Samsung. And this phone design is so iPhone-wannabe with lousy camera even for a mid-ranger.
Glass makes no sense!!!!!!!!
Useless expensive phone
Almost the same launch price as A54 and gets even cheaper if you sell the freebies. There's alsona trade in discount. Company is one of the best in the Android segment when it comes to software support.
Typed this even as a Samsung hater lol. 😅
They upgraded the build quality, which is one thing that's going for it, the other is the software support, and that's it. It comes in an awful packaging with average cameras, can't compete with chinese brands at this price.
It's a trash
Unsubbing you for your biased views.
