i know im asking randomly but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost my account password. I would love any tips you can give me!
@Yusuf Raymond i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I've only ever used a hoop and I hate them. The creases are maddening and I can never get it tight enough. Deffinatly going to get myself one of those PVC frames to try. Thanks Phil
I've wanted one of those frames but I mostly do very small projects. Thanks for the info on the scrolling frame though, pretty cool for bigger projects!
Ah, yea I usually don't use anything to hold my work when making small projects. Of course that means I'm always touching the Aida, but most of my small projects are things like bookmarks that will be touched all the time when they're finished anyway.
Have embroidered etc for years. I have had some questions so turned to UA-cam for help & you're the 2nd person I've subscribed to. Excellant information! I do hope you also browse to add to your expertise. Thank you!
I just picked up my cross stitching after a few years break from it and am so grateful I watched this, because I didn't know those PVC frames existed! I just bought one am excited to use it!
Thanks for the video. I have used the PVC pipe frames for years, especially when I do my needlepoint projects. Your video re-minded me about them, because I was needing something to hold my embroidery in. I never thought about the PVC pipe. Thanks for your neat video.
I combined an 8x8 and an 11x11 so I have two 8x11 which I fee is the perfect size! Just found your flosstube. Excited to check out all your videos, I love Harry Potter, Mario Bros and Game of Thrones so I think I’ll really like your content!!
Great video! I am not a beginner but so many new cross stitch products have come on the market. I’m going to try the PVC again. My problem is I use a stand and it doesn’t stay attached for long. I’ll take any tips.
Thanks for such helpful info, your ladybug video helped me get started with cross stitching. I just finished a large piece & the marks from the hoop are terrible. I’m scared to wash it, as I’m not sure the procedure to use. Next time you wash A finished piece, could you please post a video of how you do it? Thanks a bunch!
They make extensions for the Q Snap frames now. Try to stick with the brand Q Snap because they won't slip off your work. It looks like he's using Q Snap in this video.
I'll have a video on this sometime in the next week or two, but generally I wash mine in slightly warm water with a mild soap (I just use blue dawn) by submerging it in the soapy water and swishing it around. For any possible stains use a soft toothbrush. Press the wet piece in a towel to dry and then lay on an ironing board with a cloth on top and iron through the cloth with the heat on low. All of this does has benefits that I will cover in the video, but in the end it's your piece and you get to choose what you do with it!
@@PhilsNextKick Wow, good to know! I'm excited to start cross stitching! Your videos have helped me understand it all so much better than other resources I've found, so thank you!
Hi, new subscriber here! I enjoy your videos a lot. They are very informative. I have a question: I'm cross stitching a huge piece and I've been using a medium hoop (not wood). The indentations are really noticeable when I move the hoop to a new area. My question is, will this HUGE indentations disappear when I wash it and iron it? I'm not sure if I should ditch the hoop. I'd hate to have marks on it. Any advice? Thanks.
Yes, washing and Ironing should help, but also if you are going for long periods between stitching, don't leave your piece in the hoop like I tend to do. That will make the creases a bit more difficult to get out. Also, if you aren't already, try to remember to wash your hands before stitching to keep as much finger oils and other things that might be on your hands from staining your work. In my experience these stains tend to gather on those creases from holding the hoop.
To me it's all based on your preference. I really like the idea behind the scrolling frame, but my work tends to loosen too much while I stitch. I probably like the pvc frames better than hoops because they give me a little more room to work than the round hoop does, but I know one size doesn't always fit all.
@@PhilsNextKick last time I went to hobby lobby they didnt have anything like that but I will have to go check again. I got a project this would be great for
The PVC frame was a Yarnology brand, and much better than the scrolling one. I just checked and it looks like they do have both of them on the website.
The frames are called Q-snaps. They're quite popular so you can probably find some online. If your aida is bigger than your frame, you can fold it over and keep it in place with a grime guard (a piece of fabric for around the frame)
If you already have one or more of the frames, why can't you just make the frame its self and reuse the parts that hold the fabric on the frame you made? All you'd need to make sure is that the pvc pipe is the same as the frame the clamps came from.
I am living for the Bass Pro Shops hat while talking passionately about embroidery equipment. We need more of this everywhere!
Yes! Omg! I'm like, yes someone who can operate outside of stereotypical confines!! Hope restored!!

Very helpful. I like both ideas. Going to do a cross stitch for the first time in 25 years! I need a frame!
I like the Q-snaps too. I purchased some fabric Grime Guards that cover the part you hold to protect the stitching fabric from the oils.

This is fantastic! I never knew there were so many options! P.S.: Love the Richard Simmons t-shirt! He was a beautiful soul!
All your count cross stitch vids have been very helpful and detailed.
Dude, you're the best! So glad to find a bearded crafter I can trust.
Wow! That's how you use that scrolling frame? I bought one years ago but could never get any of my projects settled on to it. Thank you!
Awesome info I agree with the hoops leaving marks this was great, thanks, hugs
Thanks for sharing. Have a good day and stay safe.💜
Thank you! You too!
You can also slide the outer things off the Q-snap. I find it easier than trying to pull them off

That’s what I did as well and it’s my fave size. I mix and match my frame pieces so can make quite a few sizes.

What exactly is the point of the hoop? Do you even have to use a hoop or frame or anything?
Luv the little mermaid!
I don't bother with a hoop or a frame... I hold the fabric in my hand and roll it as I go XD But I am considering getting a frame for giant pieces!

Can you post the link for the scroll frame you showed?
You mentioned washing off skin oils and ironing out creases - are those steps super important? If so, what do you use to wash it?

Thanks I have picked up my half started 30 year old cross stitch’s . I found old coffee drips that I need to hind in design.
@@PhilsNextKick just a FYI.. you should iron it right side down into a towel so the stitches don't flatten out.
@@PhilsNextKick does the washing and ironing video exist yet? I couldn't find it.
Where can I get the pattern you have with the Jedi / Hogwarts?
A wood scrolling frame would be sturdier than that plastic one.

Have you tried an American Dream Scroll Frame?
Cloths pins on a plastic picture frame and pins
I like the frames except they are sooooooooo hard to remove your work. so I have gone back to the round hoop

I bought both of mine at Hobby Lobby, but you can probably find those or something similar at most craft stores.
