    Really great tips and great explanations! Your explanation about how to calculate the size of the fabric you need for your piece is WONDERFUL! That’s the first time I understood how to do that! I finally got it!! Thank you !

    When following a pattern do you complete one colour at a time or keep changing colour as you follow the pattern?

    • @CaterpillarCrossStitch
      @CaterpillarCrossStitch  6 місяців тому

      I'd say this is personal preference. You can do it either way :)

      You can have lots of needles threaded to different colours at the same time if you are doing small numbers of stitches. Look up ‘parking’ for tips on how to manage this process. It saves re threading your needle all the time.

    I’m doing a stamped cross stitch pattern. How do you protect the stitched area as you stitch across a large pattern? Since the bottom usually has the symbols for the color of threads, I guess I should start at the top and maybe roll it as I stitch downward. No one seems to know.

    I need some advice. I started a project two years ago, maybe even longer than that. I had to put it away as my life became too busy. I recently picked it up again and noticed a distinct difference in the shade of black that I used then and I don't know how to obscure it. The recent black floss is more shiny and deeper than the one I started the first part with. Other than frogging the first part (oh nooo) what can I do? Its a big picture and i just want to finish it. Please tell me how I can solve this problem? Thank you so much!

    I have a question - is there anything I can do if I didn't leave enough fabric on the edges for finishing?

    • @CaterpillarCrossStitch
      @CaterpillarCrossStitch  9 місяців тому

      That really depends on how little room is left. Some people cut some aida and sew it on to give it a false edge :)

    • @rachelwainwright8794

      Being left handed doesn’t make any difference in my experience (I’m a lefty and my nana taught me to cross stitch and she’s right handed)
