- How may we ask have squier guitars gotten to be so GOOD?
Here is a quick and honest review of this guitar from our in house guitar specialist - Sam.
This awesome guitar is ready to riff from the get go, with a no nonesense pickup configuration and the most incredible neck we have seen on a Squier build.
The guitar exceeds expectations and as a contemporary build shines above its class with its great specs and killer features.
We are so impressed with the Squier Contemporary Telecaster, and expect to see many more great things come from squier in the future for genre focused builds and the like.

It’s crazy what they’re making these days at these price points, I’m seeing some pretty serious guitarists drool over these tele’s. I ordered mine last night, great playing mate.
Hope you really like it! Great choice ;)
The golden age of guitars is proving that Gibson and Fender are overly priced and arent better just different!
100 % recommended. My introduction to squire with the Classic Vibe 60s strat and so impressed I looked into Teles. Fell in love with this and play it more than the strat
i got mine a few weeks back after waiting 4 months on backorder. i love this thing
Glad your enjoying it, perfect choice!
Nice demo man. I think your video does this guitar the most justice from all the videos I've seen. It seems to be versatile enough to make a great addition to anyone's arsenal.
Bless you! stay tuned, we're doing new videos weekly. Also if you're ever in Reading come on in and hang out!
@@HickiesMusicStore Nice. Thank you, I will.
Nicely done! Thanks for playing this the way I wanted to hear it, most of the demo videos on this guitar aren't my style of play, or sound. Yours was perfect showing what it can do with the right sound and skills (yours are quite good on both counts!). Actually sounds a lot like my Luke, the way you can hear the pick attack, hard to describe but easy to hear. I'm an old rocker with a lot of guitars already, but I need a new trick now and then without spending a ton of money...and this model checked off those boxes. Your vid helped me in my decision to buy one. Very happy with it, it does exactly what I bought it for.
So glad th video helped you make a decision, and what a guitar for the money! Hoep you enjoy it when it arrives. Thanks so much, and stay awesome - Sam
I wish I was a good enough player to buy these beautiful guitars that are coming out and each year they keep getting better!
If you appreciate them, it doesnt matter on your skill level! Be kind to yourself. Hope you are well Phillip!
Got get one, it will inspire you to become greater! 😊
Riffin hard man!!! I was bobbing along to this!! Really interested in this guitar as a knock around. Looks and sounds awesome
Thanks, I grabbed one based on this review..It’s really a joy to play and sounds great
we love to hear it
Both the guitar and the playing is so clean!
Thanks for the kind words! All the best and stay awesome! :) - Sam
I’ve been looking at different tele models for months as I don’t have one in my arsenal. I was going to go traditional, but I think im going to go this route. It’s kind of the best of both worlds and the roasted neck and fretboard with the binding convinced me. I’ll have an alnico 2 with coil tap in mine. Nice video man.
Funny, I've never looked seriously at squires before except maybe when I was learning how to play guitar. I recently discovered these contemporary squires on a whim when I decided to look at squires again as I was looking for a cheap (but good) guitar to sort of make my own, personalize it, and found these amazing pieces of wood. Ordered the white one and cannot WAIT to play it! Actually it looks so nice that I might not even want to customize it D:
Be sure to check out Jet!! :)
im about a quater way through my gcse music and have my grade 3 exam in less than a month (although my teacher has said i play at a grade 4/5 level) and with a bit of birthday money and a few odd jobs in the summer im gonna get this guiar, ive had my eye on it a while. Great review, it definitely made my mind up thats for sure.
So glad ti helped you make a decision, and I hope that once you have worked for it that you enjoy it and get the best sue out of it. thanks so much, and stay awesome! - Sam
Goddamn, that's how you do a review, very nice. And stellar playing!
Thanks so much dude! Stay awesome! :) - Sam
Great review, I’ve been looking to try one of these. They are hard to find!
Hard agree, been waiting for stock of these since this one and its just not happening! Fingers crossed we#ll have them again soon , thanks for the kind words - Sam :)
Solid playing and video, thanks!
Thanks so much D Mac! Stay Awesome! - Sam
Beautiful guitar 🤟
Hello from Malaysia! Nice review and great demo. If you were to choose, value wise & playability, this tele or the paranormal toranado?
Thanks Naqhib. Great to hear from you. This guitar comes in as a solid winner in that comparison. The paranormal is cool, but in terms of value, features and build, this contemporary tele takes first place by a very long stretch.
Arusha Accord the best!!!!!
Sheesh great playing
Glad you enjoyed the music! Stay awesome - Sam
Great playing? Do you think is good for fusiony-shreddy stuff? Is the neck fat? Im living abroad and i need a “do it all” approach and maybe this is the one. Thanks
Fusion/Shreddy is usually what I base a guitars plus points on, if it can handle it, I usually try and review it to say how much I like it! This tele being a prime example, massive fan of how controlled but still hot the bridge rail is. Neck is modern, playable, not even close to being considered fat or overly traditional. If a modern telecaster with a great feel is what you are after, matched with a high output pickup and a decently smooth neck pickup, then this guitar is for you! Hope this helps - Sam
which is better this or music man sterling axis im confused 😵💫😵💫😵💫
What amp or effect are you using? I believe this is what is giving it it’s personality tonally. Thanks
Fender Vibra Champ 5 Watt with a Boss DS1X Distortion.
Thanks for the awesome review, beautiful playing. Would you recommend this one or Contemporary Strat for a beginner? Which one is easier to play?
Great question! I would rccomend getting down to a store that has both in stockand trying them out! They are both going to be very similiar, but with differences that could only really be felt model to model by trying out the guitar and comparing build/setup
@@HickiesMusicStore thanks a lot!
Woah! Really decent for metal. Is it good for John Mayer songs?
Feels like it was built for it Naed! Should handle some dirty/not so dirty blues very well also! Thanks for this - :) - Sam
@@HickiesMusicStore Will save money for this! Thanks man, great review!
Hey man, nice playing. Very nice tone. Could you please tell me how could the sustain is? As its a single coil at the bridge and does it sound thinner as well?
Found the answer at 2:00 😄 all good mate
@@santoshnanduri Thanks for checking in mate! Yeah we really enjoyed this one in particular. Stay tuned for more! Cheers, Ollie
I have it, It's great, came fairly well set up. My only complaint would be the neck pickup, it sounds fine, but a neck version of the bridge pickup, or better yet, a neck version of the bridge pickup in classic tele form in black would look good. The humbucker with the big plastic bezel looks eh.
My thoughts exactly! Nice smooth lipstick pickup would make this a 10/10. Thanks for your feedback! - sam
Nice playing. What adjustments does the guitar need out of the box? I heard it has a pretty high string action.
Hey KazuyaST! we have a guitar tech who sets up everything on our shelf that needs adjustment before they're available to buy, however if I remember correctly this particular model was ready to rock straight out of the box, however sometimes our Squiers have needed a little bit of adjustment.
If you're local to Reading, and you need a bit of a hand with a set up come on in! you might even find something you like in store too. :)
I got the Pharoahs gold, but being a greedy guitar bastard,I had to have a Gun metal. But one if you can find one
Impressive soloing.
Thanks John, a bit on the improvised side here, but glad you enjoyed it! :) - Sam
Do you still have one on sale??
For the time being no, more stock in soon hopefuly! Get in touch with us via the store if you would like to order one specifically www.hickies.co.uk/
Nice Steve Vai impression its a great guitar for the money
Thanks so much Christine, and yes I agree, its one of the best guitars around that price range. :) Cheers - Sam
@@HickiesMusicStore 🙂🙏
Nice 👍.
Cheers Dan!
So you are playing this straight out of the box with no additional set up?
Correct!
I can't hear the clean sound D:
Between these rh or the classic vibe which one do you recommend?? Regards from Mexico ;)
Too true! I guess we were too busy trying to be "metal" to notice! Thanks for pointing this out. It really depends on the style you want to go for, for anything else inbetween, such as rock, jazz or blues then classic vibes are awesome. This is definately a guitar that excells in a high fgain application, but rocks for blues, jazz is all very nicely applied too. If you are after traditonal sounds, go for the classic vibe but for something with a modern sheen, go with the temporary. Decisions decisions!
Hey dude! i'm really thinking about buying this guitar but I have never used a rail humbucker, do you think its good for punk music? I mean in terms of overdive. thanks in advance!
Hey Vitor! Got to say, overwhelmingly yes. it's a super high output pickup, really hot and it's still got a lot of brightness to it, you really can't go wrong for hi-gain and overdriven tones.
How heavy is the actual guitar?
@@HickiesMusicStore have you tried the sterling by music man cutlass ct30 or their sting ray sr30? A less cheaper from this squier contmeporary telecaster pricepoint. I wonder which one is better choice? Sterling or this squier.
Redacted last comment - The weight of this guitar is around the 7lbs mark, so around 3.17kgs. Cheers! - Sam
Hah, interesting - that was exactly what I thought: this thing needs a lipstick in the neck! Looks and sounds really great nonetheless.
Agreed! :)
This or Jaguar?
Gonna have to go with this just for the body shape alone! But Im pretty biased ;) - Sam
I have read 5.4 kg...
Are you serious guys?!? 🤔
7lbs on search, we sold out of these for 2 runs straight thanks to you lovely people so we are unable to check specifically in store. but yes - 7lbs - 3.17kgs is the online verdict. Hope this helps! Cheers!
Just seen that the previous reply on this video was done by another staff member i.e not myself (in the video) The above answer makes alot more sense! apologies for any confusion. Thanks for this! - Sam
