2:59 I heard that this time travel sound effect is meant to be used in the American version of Sonic CD, but due to time constraints, they forgot to add it and it was replaced by the one used in the Japanese version.
im so glad it wasnt included, it is straight a stock sound
5:14 i think that sound is still used in the final, its just soften compared to the 621 prototype
Its just a sped up version
621 past music is amazing
indeed
No
@@josefinaspina9513 yes
Yes
i want to know how this happened and who is responsible for it
6:02-7:34 This music became canon in 1996
Yeah, the best intro of Sonic CD.
TOOT TOOT YOU SONIC WARIORS
1:50 Sonic megamix title fm audio
Screwstache brought me here
This is where it originated, yes.
@@spicybreadproductions1972 no, it didn't.
@@catomax26jeevit… originated here tho?
When 510 was found, they used it in 4.0
Sounds like the cd audio was going to be used for the past originally but got switched to the fm chip
I like the FM chip because it shows off the sound chip capabilities. I like hearing the systems limitations when music fades out the sounds drop.
i believe it was said in an interview that PCM was used instead of CD audio because it had a more primitive sound, which would fit for the past tracks
Kinda makes sense, the past is a more primitive version of the present
@@strangehominid I have believed this for years seeing as the PC verison of Sonic CD does actually put the past tracks as CD audio (albeit just being the past tracks recorded from the Sega CD PCM chip to CD Audio) and it fits just fine.
@@strangehominid The actual reason is because all the tracks on the discs, excluding the past ones. Go near the limit of the 700 MB CD's storage, and so making past tracks CD quality would be risky since they would have to fit within the pretty limited space that's left on the disc.
So, the devs just used the Sega CD Ricoh soundchip for the past tracks to get around that problem since now they would take up mere Kilobytes of data instead of dozens of Megabytes, honestly, I think it was the better option than most likely doing CD Quality versions of the tracks but compressing them until they could all fit on the disc.
4:46 OMG Super Flicky
Is it just me or the 0.02 version of the JP intro has more higher quality vocals for the female singer?
It must be a different take.
@@huhuhu557 yup
salad plain has better music than ptp, change my mind
Very cool to compare something to itself.

pp past feels so nostalgic and I don't know why
Awesome music really!
From My Absolute Big Brain, I Think Some Of The Instruments In The v0.02 Version Of PP Past Still Used The Same Speed From The Present Timeline Except For The Jungle Drums.

6:05 they reused this for the old sonic cd animation in origins
Nah they've reused the og opening theme that's an unused title screen version
@@FlipeTheBased they used this version of the song for the older animations, the girls voice is slightly different to any other of the officially released versions (sega cd, pc, 2011 versions)

@Mike2Dice The vocals sound a little different though
77 destination in heaven
I think he meant Title Screen/Time Attack (510-3712)
2:36 caught off-guard
GO!
Wait isn’t there a prototype that had the first boss? What prototype is it?
510 had some, if not all the bosses already coded in. 0.02 however has no bosses, at least in the data we got.
MCTravisYT I remember seeing a prototype that had the palmtree panic boss but it had claws...no I’m not talking about the sonic mania mod. I think it was 510 but I’m not so sure.
@@Derpy5637 that was a prototype sketch from the devs, if I’m right
oh god Palmtree Panic Past from 621 is so out of sync
I feel like the time travel background from the final version
I wish they kept the early musics except the the time warp from 0.02-512
Salad Plain got me ngl
Did sonic Walk. While STANDING?!?!? 5:09
CCP (621) sounds really good
5:08 2 sonics?
PPP 621 tho
In some of older prototypes of Sonic Cd
Why does the May 10th prototype has no music loaded in it
Wait the second time travel clip has the PHANTOM RUBY NOISE! sonic mania pulled some things from cd for sure.
Why is the 1st level called “Salad plain”
That's the earlier name for Palmtree Panic
I have played Sonic CD before
Interesting
Version 621 of Palmtree Panic Past sounds so rushed with the drums
After the past
👍
💯
Title screen 0.02 is the intro movie
Whats the difference in the 621 past music?
It's very off beat, obviously a rough draft.
@@TolerableDruid6 Ah, thanks.
The 621 version of Palmtree Panic Past has two tempos in the same song, the drums has the Salad Plain tempo and the melody has the normal
Lars Ulrich is the drummer (Well For Palmtree Panic at least)
i think when switching to pcm they messed it up
Wait! 2 Sonics?!
If you mean at 5:06, I pressed start on the second controller to disable debug mode. That in turn spawned a second sonic that can be controlled with the second controller.
@@MDTravisYT thank you for telling me this, cause i think what was going on
Only at Prototype
How to get second controller?
@@romalapin8648 you bind your controls on the keyboard

The R2 Level is actually mercury mine
That's from a hoax. R2's name is unknown as of now.
uhh it’s i think it’s tidal mines
@@antowoines That doesn't make sense, Tidal Mines is too similar to Tidal Tempest and it doesn't even fit sonic cd's naming pattern
@@insanefreddyalt7897 >:(
@@antowoines :)
Im still searching about R2
There isn't much aside from some sprites, some concepts, and an animation.
@@MDTravisYT I think that the r2 prototype came out just before the 510 prototype. Since one of the developers of the pc version of sonic cd said it must've been scrapped just before tidal tempest was being worked on.
Round 2 was barely even used it was artwork only we still dont have the level
