You missed the Plate Boarding Armor. Ballista elephant are classified as cavarly/siege. That's why you missed the +1/+2

That's why, it is a really bad idea to use skirmisher to counter them but rams.

This mission is so strangely easy, especially for the final one of a campaign. If you build the wonder at the very start by selling resources you can very easily defend it with the army you are given to start with. Alternatively, if you build it in the very bottom corner of the map and wall up slightly to the north the enemy will never come for you and you can win afk.
These strategies all work on hard difficulty.

I think this is harder in DE because blue spams monks, and more military 4-6 trebs from red, purple is still a joke but the sea is a pain.

you can build a castle to the right end of you city where all ships will come at and go down to heated shot. Just put some cheap skirms in to make it a one shot killer.
