This vid is 7 years old. I've had my Rush 72 since 2015 and it's traveled the world with me and is now spending a good bit of time in the backcountry. No rips or tears, all zippers work, nothing wrong with it at all. I did give it a good wash and scrub recently and it's pretty much good as new!
The only draw back to this pack is the hip belt. It isn't all that. I found a solution!!! For $20 on Amazon you can get the CONDOR GEN2 BATTLE BELT. It attaches right to the existing hip belt perfectly through the Velcro flaps on the battle belt. I use mine regularly for miles at a time. Ranging from 35-50lbs of gear. And I am 6'2 265
I love mine . You can pack more in it than is comfortable to carry . I just really like the idea of having what I need and still have the extra room for whatever. I also pack a cricket .22 on occasion .
I've had the Rush 24 - great piece of kit and has survived years of rugged army usage. Looking to upgrade to the 72 now for the extra space. Thanks for the video
I know, right? Here I was admiring the 30 round mag pouches in the bag (which Brits probably didn't notice they are made to fit - this bag was designed by Kyle Lamb after all) and thinking, "yep, perfect length for a folded AR". Lol. Gotta love our freedom. Hold on to it, fellow patriots or before you know it... we'll be walking around with swiss army knives on necklaces hahaha. :P
@@tyfowler3155 and @Jim Turner yeah hilarious right? with a mass shooting every couple days that gun policy is working really well. i'm in australia, and we have VERY strict gun laws. it works here, i dont want fruitcakes walking around with machine guns, nor arguments ending with shotgun blasts. i doubt you fine gents will understand my viewpoint, but i will give it a go .. gun policy in usa is kept as such by the nra to keep their citizens afraid and therefore buying guns, making the manufacturers uber wealthy. the nra tout the 'right to bear arms' patriotic malarkey but its all a scam. the nra are backed by the gun manufacturers, who want a dividend on their donations. they couldnt give a shit about being patriotic, nor how many shootings there are, its all about getting the cash register ringing. i digress, i'm just a 'dumb skippy', what the hell would i know? thats a fair point. i know that i can go anywhere in australia, anytime day or night without a problem, unarmed. this includes perceived sketchy areas such as dandenong, fairlfield, redcliffe etc. so i ask the question dear readers, if i can take the better half out for a walk or lunch / dinner, with our car parked on the street (a reasonably expensive car), and not have a bother, nor is the car stolen or broken into upon our return, i wonder what australia is doing wrong and usa doing right? or should that be the other way around as highlighted above?
I recently got this pack in Sandstone as well. The side straps can squeeze by quite a lot, reducing the bag's thickness to less than half of its fully loaded size, this way the bag can also be used as a daypack. And that admin panel despite looking thin can fit a ton of stuff.
I find it very comfortable, I have filled both over the top just to try and attached the Moab 6 as well, to try for comfort fully loaded, I find them both very comfortable. The shoulder straps carry the weight well because of wide and padding and the shape. Try one first though, as we all carry differently.
best review of 5.11 bag ive seen used mine for 2 winters no complaints 72 bag carries well Michigan Winters carries whats required as EDC 20-30 LBS normal. Even thou I live in city , I stealth camp Best Bag I Found As long as Ive had it well worth the investement. My bag is not going to break on me . Its got a minim of 2 more years . use it all summer too.
Hi, great review of a great bag, I also have a RUSH 72 and also a MOAB 10 both in the sandstone colour and I was equally cheesed off to find that some 5.11 pouches aren't available in sandstone! I also reluctantly ended up getting the H2o pouch in FDE for my MOAB, I emailed 5.11 direct about colour availability and they say they have no future plans to make any more pouches than they already do in sandstone :( Looking forward to your next review, cheers.
Cracking video. I have been looking at this bag for a long long time, you helped me make up my mind, there is an insane amount of gear that you could carry in this bag. And if the ability to hang another bag from the rush series is just brilliant. I subbed too btw. :-)
Wow, this video is so old he is still reading paper books! Lol! I am buying this pack and it is a great video to see how much gear I can get into it for my Get Home Bag (GHB). An oldie but a goodie!
I have the Field Line knock off of the 72 5.11. Seems sturdy enough. Have to see how much it will take in the field... Just $40.00 so the price was right.
Yep, Black really is the surest way to go with Molle (imo) for the general civilian user, for this reason. As much as I love earthy tones (not 5.11's hideous f.d.e though) it was clear just from looking around on the web that various makers have their own ideas of what is Coyote Tan, what is Tan, etc etc. I went for a Black Bergen (not 5.11) with PALS ladders on, and 5.11 has a whole range of Black Pouches for it, from Vertical to Horizontal etc.
Thanks for wearing and walkin with it,, now I know what it will look like and it's too big for me, I'm 5'8" 155 lbs., I think I'm gonna look into the 5.11 24 pack instead. I'm more into hiking, 72 might be a bit too much of a bag for that.
I have a Rush 72 and i want to find some lashing like you have with the clips for the bottom. I want to lash my U.S. M.S.S. sleeping system, but I can't find it anywhere, any suggestions?
On the bottom of your pack you mentioned that you attached your own straps. Ive just bought a Berghaus 45 centurio and have noticed that there are no straps or attachments if I wanted to attach a sleeping bag to the bottom. Do you have any tips or know any good websites that might explain how to attach and sew something on? Thanks!
Have both 24, and 72.. use regularly. Problem is getting any support from the manufacturer. One of the zippers on the 24 side pocket failed. Bag out of warranty, after much back and forth with 511, no way they are going to help repair the bag out of warranty. Basically you are on your own to find a way to repair. This is a bit disappointing for a high end expensive bag. Bottom line be ready to find your own repairs if needed after bag is out of warranty
How many liters is that bag?, Is not which backpack to buy between maxpedicion or 5.11 one is American and the other I think is Russian which of the two will be of better quality in terms of material capacity and pockets in relation to both, but I'm interested in the volume of that backpack, I would like to know your opinion, I have no one to give me advice on these things, I'm from chile and I'm interested in buying one of those. I will continue watching your videos, I hope your answer. Thank you.

Bomber packs made to last.
I got a rush 72.. it’s a great bit of kit.. a little on the heavy side but rugged..
This guy has the best video when it comes to a review on this bag good job sir

That sounds like a fantastic mod. Thanks for sharing
Just want you to know, this video has taught me a lot about my Rush 72. I now know how to get the most potential out of my bag. Thank you!
same here :D
Same here just bought my R72.

It's a great pack and just swallows your gear. 👍

Thanks for the review. Great bag. I have one on the way and I'm looking forward to it.
Interested in how it carries. It would seem with the size you would almost be better with a nice internal frame top loader.

Hi Ian, I got the same response when I emailed them also,
The jetboil fits nicely in the h2o carrier, fde isn't a patch on the sandstone colour.
Thanks for all the great positive comments,
You forgot the kitchen sink... LoL I love mine, it's a great pack. Good vid
Wow, this video is so old he is still reading paper books! Lol! I am buying this pack and it is a great video to see how much gear I can get into it for my Get Home Bag (GHB). An oldie but a goodie!
Glad you like it still reading paperbacks today lol
Excellent video and a good walkthrough of the pack. Keep producing great videos and stay safe out there. Scott

Thanks bud love the design and colour just ordered mine !
Hi it carries very well, it does have a stiff support in the back where I took books from
Thanks for wearing and walkin with it,, now I know what it will look like and it's too big for me, I'm 5'8" 155 lbs., I think I'm gonna look into the 5.11 24 pack instead.
I'm more into hiking, 72 might be a bit too much of a bag for that.
I'm 5"8 165 and it makes an amazing hiking and camping pack
good review mate - straightforward and informative.
Cheers
Great video... Just what i was looking for...
Glad it helped
I have a Rush 72 and i want to find some lashing like you have with the clips for the bottom. I want to lash my U.S. M.S.S. sleeping system, but I can't find it anywhere, any suggestions?
I bought some webbing off ebay and buckles, just stitched the buckles on after I cut to the I needed.
Amazing review! Well done!
Many thanks i do plan on getting out and making more vids
Yeah they are a great bag,

Hi mate may be a long shot, but are you still using this bag at all?
No mate, I did buy another but changed again. May revisit sometime.

5.11 do have a massive amount of add ons, i do like sandstone the best though
Good review. You can put a heckuva lot of stuff in that bag.
Travis B just to show what it can fit

I think its about 50l . It has stacks of pockets. So organisation is excellent. As is the build quality.
Is the waist strap removable?
how many days have you camped using this backpack?

Just on a first glance....is a Backpack suposed to hang this low? I think not or?
What ever is comfortable for you. We are all different.

Say bro, you ever coming back??!!!! You do a great job.
Yes I'll be back lol..... but due to a leg injury I'll be review lighter weight gear. Which is a shame as the 5.11 gear is good gear.

Just went through every thing so fast didn't explain what was what.
Why can't you speak clearly?
Mate it's how us Northern boys sound.
I can't understand you. Speak American please.
Lol should i talk slower
+Captain Sunday I'm American and I can understand him just fine. Perhaps you should take the dicks out of your ears.
