Don’t listen to anyone who says this short isn’t good, it’s awesome! I watched it at least 12 times realistically and still think that this is the best short film I have ever seen in my life
Wonderful movie but I can not understand how this can earn first place at all when it's obvious that the minerva kit is not a part of the story at all. At the same time: orencloud has the deepest respect from my side for pulling this up in Blender in that 40 days. Awesome Artist!
I have to say... The work stands out as a best-in-class piece for other reasons beyond this challenge and it's intention. Whose reasons, work and why adapted with deliberation yet masterfully. But it all feels a bit icky and pre-determined now. The MTM has been more "Competition" and promotion rigging than a pure "Challenge". The prize incentives. Industry peoples named to judge. The branding. It's for "profit" more than inspiring fair create. Mindful there is an important distinction between what is a Challenge and a Competition. To shout out 32,000 entrants etc? Can all those be assessed and viewed? Not in your life!!! At first, we are in awe and inspired by the truly beautiful work. Masterful it is! The winners rightful place acknowledged as a "best". At second, the conceptual elements and imagery applied comes from other project art-formings before this 2022 challenge. If not mistaken, a work by a few from a Studio. The deer a Blender splash screen in 3.1. Works run along lines with same such grace and elements repurposed for the MTM race. It is no unreasonable but mind numbing to suggest... the bulk of the work and force done adapt to the MTM brand Challenge. Which is not to say that much. But it's annoying, scratching the head, dulling the mind to think... this work does not reflect the 'spirit' or impression of the "Challenge" it was first suggested / implied. It does not appear to come from any one soul, lovingly crafting something specifically for the here and now - for this particular challenge pursuit. Kudos must go to the victors & creators and the "thanks" to the clever marketing people at KB3D+ for their assets and the 'cunning' lesson. But the take-away at least me... don't let yourself be disappointed or fooled by market people ventures which seek profile over good will. Have fun creating 3D Art and put pay to your self. Be inspired by the good work of others. Hold out no expectation for such things as fair judgements or accurate guidelines. As they appear not to exist. And look out for the riggings and who is pulling strings. They might not be laughing with you. Nice beautiful work applied. Now it just feels a bit sad with “no hope” ah? Till next time. Is that a waft of something in the air I smell? Peace
A stunning video and amazing concept, however apart from looking through the window in a single module where was the use of the Minerva kit? I saw other kits used far more throughout the 5 minutes. I thought the whole point was to show off the Minverva kit, not a wall with a window in it?
The story makes me think of poetic way to think about covid or cancer. When someone understands their fate and they must finally decide to accept it and move onward.
What a great eye for cinematography and design. Some of the character animation is a bit iffy, but wow, overall a pretty amazing piece of work. 1:40 - 1:44 is so hauntingly horrifying and beautiful at the same time.
i just wanted to finish a few shots.. but got dragged down to perfectionist hell in a couple of weeks. Couldnt finish in time. This is exactly what the contest was for - to showcase some talents that have all of the tools worked out to an art form... this is amazing!
@@xpez9694 it's challenging meet your own goal sometimes. I've struggled with that a lot in recent years. But when you overcome it and know when to call it done you'll improve tremendously
@@MrFour4th yeah I think I have a high standard if I am art directing artists but wanting to level up my own 3d skills which makes me want to keep refining refining.... to get that landing right.. to get the jets working perfectly so they are realistic.. I wanted some infrared haze turbulence coming out of the proton jet things.. I got it going.. once I comp it will be great. I tried to rig up a character with mixamo but my character was too complex for mixamo.. anyway I think I was going for the moon.. LOL literally. I want to finish it I will... my landscapes were looking tight.. I rigged up the ATV with shocks and used some smoke sims turbulence FD for the dust clouds from the tires and put lights on the vehicles .. it was going to be amazing. looks like I am a few weeks away though.. Maybe I will put a link when its finally posted... I dont care if it didnt make it. It was a fun challenge and I enjoyed watching everyone interpret the project over the weeks. It was the push I needed to make stuff on my own without clients and deadlines.
The only unfortunately appalling lack of quality is the video compression - it pretty much destroyed the experience for me :( I am aware that smoky, foggy, gradient-prone videos are tricky to compress - but I think it could have been done better or with more care - maybe next time ask the artist to upload the output video fully uncompressed? Or with the sources and final uncompressed? - could you guys look into it? That way, the video could be uploaded with lossless compression to youtube so that the youtube encoder wouldn't destroy the nice imagery that could have been on display :) Asides from that, marvellous work, beautiful lighting and composition.
I don't like writing this, and I'm not a participant in the contest, but since I really wanted to participate I feel kind of betrayed seeing this entry win. Why? Kitbash made a contest that is supposed to be centered to the Minerva kit, this entry is over 4 minutes long and, as other people noted too, it shows the assets for a few moments, how is this supposed to win when there are great pieces that really use and show the kit in a great way (Planet Daedalous, Meridian and Extraction are a perfect example)?
Sorry but that's not what I expected, seen far better clips with the MinervaKit building blocks. Seen for me: topic missed. This can be shown at any given science fiction contest. Place 2 and 3 show what the content of the task was and have a much higher claim to land in first place.

yes, just realized that after finishing the clip - no assets from Minerva (wasn't that the point of the challenge to have the kit in? @kitbash3d
i think I saw at least one asset.
same thinking here : this is piece of art, nothing to say except it is a very great short movie : but where is the kitBash3D related assets?
@@codecheeta are you guys for real? look at left on 1.21 there is a whole city.
Some of the most beautiful and moving imagery I've ever seen. Amazing work. You definitely earned 1st place. Congratulations, Orencloud.

Serious mix of Blade Runner 2049 and a fantasy sci-fi world. Love it!
Fascinating! 👍

Beauty beyond belief.

see above
Guidelines said to use the kit. Its a great mood piece, but it isn't related to the kit though. I agree.
That's extraordinary, congratulations to the winner/s
Simply WoW!
Amazing Work
hooly. incredible work orencloud. just beautiful and inspiring.
Absolutely fascinating! Amazing piece Orencloud
The winner 😂😂
He used the minerva kit only 3 seconds in the video
That’s exactly what I thought… barely used the kit at all but was beautiful
@@christopheradams6739 yes very beautiful

the SECOND I heard clair de lune I knew it was a banger
Wow, i've never seen a render like that
I want one of those Dodge Challengers myself, except mine would have to have a Hemi.
I don't think anyone stood a chance with this entry being up there. Really thinking outside of the box
