I have been into 3D for 10 years and watching tutorials, even paid courses, yet first time in my life I have the best understanding of how lights work in real world and 3D. Please keep up the great work!
Today morning I just saw this video in my mobile before a job interview and I applied this in job test for the 1st time and they were feeling crazy from the results.... Thanks for teaching us 😁😊
watching this video and him explaining everything i do to light my renders and immediately saying "don't do this it's wrong" has been pretty hilarious so far
This is an absolutely priceless tutorial. Multiple times here you had me inspired, especially as someone who has moved from cameras into Blender. It’s so much fun playing around with these. I was using regular lights a lot so Emission planes will be a new ones to try.
your tutorial was really amazing, I cannot find anyone else who can explain clearly and as detailed as you about lighting, feeling so lucky to find your channel!!! thanks so much!!!
i love that you're taking the real world into consideration, so many times have i felt insecure of lighting setups because i thought they were unrealistic and you just helped me get rid of those insecurities
Wow what a great tutorial, what I would try to achieve by adding 2-3 lights and randomly moving and rotating them, I found out can be created with a single light and a few planes. Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial!
I'm really appreciate for your blender tutorial, one of the best in my memory. Thank you so much!!!!! I want to test all this 'light' tips immediately !!
This was a really XLNT video…. Great teaching!! Have learnt a lot and have come at a right time as i am trying to light a perfume bottle. Have had terrible time not getting the results i am looking for. Also live in Sydney.
Thank you so much. I always search several UA-cam videos if there's a problem I don't know, and to my surprise, the answer was on the Wenbo Zhao channel. Thank you.
This is literally the best and straightforward lighting tutorial I've ever watched on youtube, Thank you for your content. Please do drop more tutorials to make us better in our lighting.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. This is probably the most comprehensive tutorial I have watched on lighting. Very simple and in detail, but with professional results.
Awsome class Wenbo.. i agree complete with what you said in the beginning.. it is so hard to find more professional explanations about how things happen, and how to apply it.. all is about do this and do that, with less understanding about what is going on.. So BIG THANKS to you and congratulations for this material you share.. cheers !!
Great video with a lot of useful information! Using Area Lights is generally better than using emissive planes in almost every way. - Area Lights render faster and cleaner with much less noise because of importance sampling. - To see the an Area Light rendered just like an emissive plane, select the Area Light, go to Object Properties > Visibility > Ray Visibility and tick the Camera checkbox which is unticked by default. - Light objects in Cycles can use nodes, this means you can put a texture on them or make any crazy shader you want, just like a plane.
Thank you so so much for making this video! It has helped me out incredibly with my lighting in blender and I compared my work to previous work and the difference is INCREDIBLE!
For Gradient texture light, you only need Color Ramp, no need photoshop. Fuiyooo!!! this tutorial is great, but the Gradient Light make my feet down. Oh EDIT! make in photoshop is the most accesible and easy way for most people. Thank you for your tutorial.
Very thorough tutorial! Really enjoyed this, I'm a pro photographer and love that you have a photography background and are able to use that valuable experience to teach CGI.
Once again...another fantastic tutorial. Thanks again for this. I don't do 3D and only getting started on blender as a hobby, this is very educational and interesting.
Thank you so much for combining knowledge between these real and digital world, but for beginners in 3d I want to mention that using such "diffusors" in 3d will cause a lot of secondary noise
I have been into 3D for 10 years and watching tutorials, even paid courses, yet first time in my life I have the best understanding of how lights work in real world and 3D. Please keep up the great work!

Tutorials show how to do a particular stuff. But real talent evolves when we start making new things after learning from those tutorials 😊.
