Thank you for posting this! I have this omnibus and the binding is fucked and I was contemplating getting rid of it so thank you for showing us how to fix it.
Man.. this is such a good video. I just re-glued the Binding for my copy of The Stand Omnibus (which was pretty much on par with the Miles Morales omni in regards to separating), I used "Lineco Neutral pH" adhesive So happy with how it turned out.. you the man Gabe! ✌
Dude I literally just bought the same omnibus from a lady for $100 on marketplace. Looked brand new and got it home to find this same problem. I was pretty upset till researching fixes and now I feel much better seeing this video lol. Already got my glue ordered!
Great video man!!!! I just glued my Miles Omnibus today because I want to read it during this Covid-19 crisis. Your instructions helped out a lot and it turned out perfect for me, thanks!
You're the Bob Ross of omni repair! Don't need this at the moment, but I just got a Batgirl Bronze Age that feels really loose compaired to all my other DC books.
I appreciate this Gabe. Unfortunately water was spilled on my New Teen Titans Vol 1 Omni Reprint (unfortunately ofc the one that is currently OOP), totally screwing up the binding, but this video seems to have helped me salvage it. It's just a handful of pages in the back that are a bit wrinkled, but I ordered this glue and some cheap paintbrushes from Amazon. Just put them to work, and now I have the book sitting tightly. Fingers crossed!
Thank you! My Captain America Mark Waid Omnibus looked exactly like the Mile Morales omnibus and Wolverine Goes To Hell, only some of the pages were coming off the glue. Thank you for this video!
The Captain America omnibus by Waid, Garney, and Kubert has the same issue. I found the exact glue you were using on Amazon and it just came in. I used your procedure and will let it sit overnight. Thanks for the tutorial video.
Oh thanks. This is great🙏🙏. Gonna fix my Batman Rebirth Deluxe Detective Comics Hardback with this method. I feel having glue is a key tool for Graphic Novel collectors. Thanks
The last book that required some glue was my New X-Men reprint. Each time I glue it, it came apart some more. Got to a point that i gave up, and then the second reprint was released and I bought that. In all fairness, that New X-Men book was big and heavy, so it could pose some difficulties in fixing. That Miles Morales look like a simple fix and should stay that way since it's not massive. Thanks for the video. You did a good job.
I’m about to fix my marvel zombie omnibus. The binding looks exactly what happened to yours. Thanks for this video I got scared about what might happen to the book.
Thanks for this overview, I think I'm ready to order the supplies and try this with my Captain America by Mark Waid Omni. It can't screw the binding up any more than it already is, lol.
Thanks a lot my guy! Helped me a ton. Btw the new printing of the Roger Stern Omnibus uses this clear looking flexible glue that takes up quite a bit of space. I believe it was printed by Leo press which is the bad batch lately. Will this method work for that book as well? I feel it's like adding even more glue on top of a thick layer of this silicone looking glue that they have been using as of late. Man it's 2021 this type of craft should be perfected by now.... Sigh
Thanks for the vid! I watched yours and another UA-camr’s vid and you both use the same method & glue, though he only puts the glue on the binding, not the paper block. I have a new omnibus with a minor separation, so I’m hoping I won’t need too much glue! 👍
Juan Diego Bauzán I’d order it on amazon...you really don’t want PH/acid in the glue because it will start to dissolve the backs of the pages in a couple years
I have an uncanny xmen omnibus and it's stiched only 3 quarters of the book. I have no issues so far but im worried without it stitched all the way across threw reading or ageing it may fall apart or come loose?
Could you use this method on trades? My Batman The Cult trade has fallen from the cover due to heat aging the glue away. Besides that, it's in good condition, not even a rip or dog ear.
Interesting, I think that Marvel’s binding tends to be on the loser side while DC’s tends to be the opposite, if it’s to lose the ribon comes apart but if it’s to tight you can have too much gutter loss or bear trap effect.
I have a paper back comic of alice in wounder the spine/main cover is coming off it lookes like was helds together with hotglue how can i fix this pleas
I have this binding issue on my copy of The Walking Dead Compendium Vol. 3. Would this remedy work for that too even though it's paperback? Or would trying to glue paperback like that just mess it up even more?
Thank you sir. I tried repairing my Miles Morales omnibus in a similar way a few weeks ago but it all fell apart after i started reading it. Only difference is i did not use a brush. I will try your technique and see if it works this time.
@@GabeLoves90sComics I used the exact same technique you showed here, a day after you posted this video. I finally read the Miles Morales omnibus this week-end from cover to cover and the glue is still holding. So yeah thanks man. This video alone is worth subscribing to your channel. On a separate note it's a shame that DC and Marvel can't get their shit together. I have a big collection of french comics omnis, some of them 40 years old and never experienced this problem. Never had a problem with Dark Horse books for that matter.
Mines not so much the binding but a few pages on my walking dead volume comic The first page where the creator and etc is displayed is coming off, the staples/glue holding it together is starting to come off and then the final page of the comic is starting to come off Don’t plan on ever selling these comics, but I want them to hold up and keep their value, is there a way to fix the pages before they get worse and come off completely
Hey Gabe question about thanos? Having read Infinity Gauntlet, do I need to know anything else about Thanos before reading the runs from Lemire and Cates? And are they that good?
Thanks I have to do this for my Aquaman Omnibus. I had it since release and when I went to try and re read it the books whole back spine was coming. I have no clue what caused it as I kept it in good condition and on my shelf this whole time.
Hyperion Do you know how to fix an Omnibus where the binding is intact but the eye is like permanently creased and it’s only held together by the paper? When the book sits on the shelf the actual text block is sagging at an angle in comparison to the actual cover (it’s the 52 omnibus btw). Thanks!
Not sure how to contact you so i'll ask my question under your most recent video. Apologies, it's completely unrelated. I pre-orderd Uncanny X-Force - Marvel Omnibus (the reprint from last month). It wentOut of stock right away , even before the released date and the merchant cancelled my order. They weren't sure if/when their stock would be replenished. It's unavailable on Amazon Canada. Available on Amazon US but they won't ship it to where i live. Do you know if the out of stock issue is related to the COVID-19 situation of if they are out of stock for good. I'd really appreciate your take on this. I want this book real bad which is why i pre-ordered it.
You answered my question on the last Omnibros live episode. Thanks a lot for reassuring me. I considered buying it on Ebay but i will wait until it's back in stock instead. Thanks again Gabe.
Tried to do this, waited 3 days, came right off. Assuming I didn't apply the glue correclty something since I got the exact glue and same comic to fix.
As a carpenter (not sure if it would apply to book binding) maybe applya very thin layer of glue, let it dry with the book open. Once dry apply a nice layer of glue again. I know when glueing wood together it works better then 1 thick layer. I really dont know if it would work on a book though
I unwrap my berserk and the last 3 pages that are glossy for the covers and as a comic reader in stretched out and relaxed the spine and it flap out fast its sill on there but it goes Beyond The gutter loss what do I do 🤔 if anyone got an answer
Thank you for posting this! I have this omnibus and the binding is fucked and I was contemplating getting rid of it so thank you for showing us how to fix it.
Wow! I'm glad this video got to you in time. I would hate it if you got rid of the book.
Has ur copy held up?
@@rhino2340 kind of...I just checked and I see some tiny gaps between the glue and book block but it seems to hold up when i flip through it
Getting ready to do this to my Waid Captain America omnibus. Thanks for posting this,Gabe.
thank you gabe. this video gives me the confidence that i can do it myself :D
If I can do it then anyone can do it.

Did the same thing a month ago. After waiting 24hrs, it came apart again 2nd attempt, a quarter bottle of glue and 48hrs did the trick. Great vid.
Thank you! I just got into Omni’s and i went to open it “the right way” and seen the sewer part came off. Thank you for this video!

Thanks for the video, this is needed since my Seven to Eternity book has this problem too. So grateful for this info
Glad it was helpful!
Great video Gabe. Mine was completely off the ribbon on both sides so I'm ready to get this bad boy fixed up.
Thumbs up for the happy little clouds.

For some reason I was expecting this to be a spoof vid like the one Gio did last year of fixing an Omni... Good job Gabe! :)
"Just... happy little clouds, happy little clouds :).. oh shit." Made me die😂
Thanks for the video Gabe. I've got two of these (both have the binding issue) so I'll be putting your tutorial to good use. Cheers :D
Thanks for this, my locke and key graphic novels pages came loose the first time reading them so will definitely try this

Hi, can i use another adhesive to glue the comic to the spine? I cant get any PVA without PH in the city i live.
