Reminds me of the "How to correctly open an omnibus" video you made a few years back. Probably one of the best you've done, and hopefully one of the most-viewed. I like the idea of once every month or two, having some kind of "How To XXXX" series video, not sure how feasible it is though.
Been meaning to fix my Cap A. by Waid Omnibus. I had a good laugh when I opened the video to see you with the same book. I guess this is a common issue with that print
Can't wait for an updated version of this video in 10 years time when Omar needs to glue his copy of the Road to Onslaught because he's read it so often ! #OnslaughtNo1fan
Thanks for the awesome tutorial! One of these days I’ll take on the challenge of repairing my Runaways omnibus. This video also assuaged any concerns I had about the book simply falling apart- glad that’s not the case! Thanks, Omar
Good tips with the bamboo sticks! I used a really long syringe last time so this was a nice alternative. You can always add ribbons too whenever this happens. :) That’s always cool and turns a “negative” into a real cool positive! Always gotta stress less is more with glue and be real patient to let it dry. Great vid, Omar!
"Bunches of leaves" are called "signatures." The bamboo sticks work great; often a paintbrush won't fit and the bamboo sticks can get right in there. I also just put the repaired book on a bookshelf, spine down, for 24 hours, with books holding it in securely. The weight of the pages themselves will provide sufficient pressure to make the ribbon adhere. The C clamp really doesn't put pressure exactly where you need it. Good work! Isn't it satisfying when the binding looks like new?
Great video! I needed this several months ago but reddit gave me the same solution after some sleuthing. This video is going on my desktop to paste on reddit for future book lovers in peril 😅
I'm also wondering whether a disposable wooden chopstick could be useful with getting the glue deep down into the spine. But thanks, appreciated watching you do this, and the tips, tricks, advice you shared with us !
Well done sir! Thanks Omar. You just made my nights less restless. I can now sleep easier knowing this video exists to help if one of my greatest fears comes true. C'mon omni collectors, you know we all do. Great video. You really have a knack for making a "how to" video be clear, precise, and enjoyable to watch. Take care and peace everyone!
I did this with my own Cap omni! I was a bit conservative with the glue the first time so I had to go back in a second time but it looks great now. Also did it with my JSA Vol 3 omni. This is a wonderful tutorial Omar!
Suggestion, inject the glue from the bottle through a water bottle straw. choose the diameter that deposits the sufficient amount of glue. I've not tried this, just an idea!
Omar, I know you like horror comics, but this was a real nailbiter. I got so nervous when I saw the size of that brush and how many times the book got even remotely close to drips of glue.
Interesting to see your process. Right away I noticed we used the identical glue. Dude, your brush is humongous! I used a much smaller brush, I could push the brush way in deep Also, I put the book on the shelf exactly the same way to dry. I find it funny that I did it all similar to you, purely because it seemed the smartest way. I glued my Cap and Miles books long as for this issue, but also Weapon X Returns was bad for this problem. Oh, I commented before the video was over, yes a brush like that, lol. Btw, the glue washes off the brush with water, no problem.
I had this a few weeks ago with my irredeemable omnibus. It got to the next stage though. the pages were completely unslotting. So i gave it to a friend and pre-ordered the new version coming out
Thanks, Omar. This video has been really helpful. My bookcase is on one side of our room, opposite our wood heater and I noticed a few days back while cleaning and reorganising my shelf that some of my spines have given way, I'm guessing due to the heat in the room. It's happened to about 4 of my omnis, so they need a repair. Thanks for this. Insightful and helpful!
This is so awesome that you made a video on this cuz I recently just bought the predator omnibus an this is the exact thing that happened so I thank you for that an as always love all your videos an thank you for being the one who started me into my omnibus journey
Had to recently do this with Cap by Waid, Deadpool and Co. and Runaways (damaged in the mail). After a couple of sessions (no more than 3) everything finally was repaired and safe
Thank you Omar! I have similar problems with Charles Soule's Daredevil after only one read through (and despite of careful stretching of the spine when the book was new).
Thank you for this. Not sure if you're having this issue with your Power Rangers Deluxe Hardcovers, but I am. Even my new copy of Necessary Evil Part 2 started doing this and I'm gentle when I handle my books.
Thank you for this, it hasn't happened to my omnis yet but a couple of my OHCs have had this problem. I managed to put some glue in the spines although I don't know it it will keep it together, this will definitely help me next time.
Such a useful video. I needed this video last year when my Absolute Dark Victory spine started to crack and split between the pages. Glued it but starting to do it again. Maybe give it another go🤔
I strongly recommend using a syringe with a flexible spout attachment to get the glue deep into the center of the spine; that's what I use. Recommendation for another video in this vein: BRODART DUST JACKET PROTECTORS! I can't believe how few collectors put them on their dust jackets, yet I put them on *all* of mine...
Good to know this is a (mostly) cosmetic issue. I'm reading volume 3 of the TMNT hardcovers and mine is starting to seperate a decent way down at the head about a quarter of the way through the book. A bummer but I don't see it getting worse unless I maybe decide to reread it in the future. Doesn't help that these books have the bookmark ribbons which are tempting to pull on, imo 😂
Thanks buddy, the biggest problems iv'e had are with Image Deluxes like Black Science and Deadly Class, also The Massive by Dark Horse and X-Men classic by Marvel,iv'e used this method before but can't get it ruight because for some reason some pages are deeper than others, their gluing was bad at start
My Cap by Waid/Garney/Kurbert omnibus was detached before I opened it. I did try to reglue it, but it didn't set right. Part of it is glued back and other parts aren't, and there is a huge crease going down the spine. Oh well. Guess I'll wait for the inevitable $150 reprint. That said, I found some plastic syringes on Amazon and used that to inject glue deeper into the eye than anything else was reaching.
Thanks for this very helpful video. Will the glue also work if the brown paper (between the board and ribbon) is not attached to the ribbon? I am not sure if the glue will seep through the brown paper and onto the board.
Thank you Uncanny Omar for this very clear explanation ! I have a big question for you : at 12:18, what are the two "Supergirl by Peter David" and the three "New Krypton" on the bookshleves ? Are they futures omnibus ?? And if it's that, when they will be availables ? Any news on it ?
Weapon x and marvel zomnibus had bad binding as well and the gluing never worked for me so I will have to offload 1st print zombniibus and get the reprint
one thing I do when repairing my omnibus with glue is to put a business card behind ribbon so if someone made a mistake in putting too much glue it will stick to card which can be cut with razor as opposed to spine of hardcover causing worse damage. Just a tip
I’ve seen a lot of great videos about how to open omnis, but how should I be reading them? Can I just have them open on a desk? On my lap? On my bed? Do I need one of those stands?
Does the ribon hold any important function other then cosmetics? Its a little bit lose on some of my omnis but nothing like this should i glue it or what ?
Question: Is it better to stack your books with the spines out? My partner has a Masters in archival sciences and said omnibus editions being as big as they are, just standing on the shelf will eventually damage the binding.
Awesome video Omar 🙏 Is there a similar process to fix trades paper backs? My Winds of numa sera cover has almost come off the book Also, did you fix your copy of the Bitter Root omni?
Omar I have a question. If say only one part of the binding has come loose but not the whole thing, should I more or less detach the whole or just get clue into the crevice that's come loose?
Awesome I was always concerned that my said Omni was the only copy like that, glad to know it was a lot of that book….ps are those custom supergirl omnibus????
Fuck yeah, dude. Love this. Gonna try it on my Punisher Max by Ennis volume 2. For some reason the signatures (Neil Gaiman told me that's what they're called) have started coming off the ribbon.
I have found just squirting glue in, is unreliable. I go all in now and open the spine fully by splitting the book at the end paper and book signatures. (a hot hair dryer helps, and it'll pull apart) You can now fully access the block to re-glue to the spine and I use binding gauze to help key in the glue. Use a spacer along the spine like a long ruler and clamp with thick rubber bands ( use card to protect the edges of the boards) leave under pressure for over 24 hours to cure remove the ruler Spacer and then glue the end paper to the signatures and let it lie flat to cure with a couple omnis for pressure. Also use strips of card under the signature to stop sagging when storing on the shelf.
I don't have any issues in any of my omnis (so I don't have anything to read! Ah! See what I did there?) Now seriously, what I have, is my first printing of the Spider-Man vs Venom, the board on the spine, when I open the book, it bends inward. I have to make sure that it does the curvature normally any time I open the book.
So just to be sure is using bamboo sticks ok to spread glue? My brushes are too big for the hole. And do u need to put glue on the underside of the bunches as well? I'm nervous bout repair Ultimate Spider-Man omnibus 3. Last time I tried to repair Absolute Dark Victory it didn't end up very good😂
Hi Omar! Would you recommend this if the cover has torn off? I just unsealed my Teen Titans Bronze which I bought in January, and the back cover and end page was completely torn apart from the spine.
Hey brother. Without looking at pics based on your description. It could work. As long as that end paper is in good condition. When something like that happens, I would strongly suggest using bookbinding tape too. Sounds like the printer messed that book up.
@Near Mint Condition thanks Omar! I finally remembered I got this from CGN and emailed them. I'll give this a shot if they can't help me. I started collecting in December and now have 60+ books, so I haven't opened them until I get around to reading them. I blame y'all because I found your channel and you got me hooked on omnis 🤣🤣🤣 Then I watched tons of your old reviews and scooped up all the older omnis I just had to have.
They are sewn binding. The issues themselves are sewn together but you have to use glue as well to have it stick to the ribbon. So sewn binding will always having sewn + glue. Glued binding is just glued down so you won’t get an eye. Hope that helps!
Different from the usual BUT AWESOME. Thank you Omar. You have dried the tears of hundreds of biblophiles.

Awesome. Good to have this in the archive for reference! Only thing missing was Omar in a flannel shirt! :)

Love these types of video content. Very informative and essential. Awesome stuff Omar. Merci!

A video so epic it needed two separate introductions! Thanks for the guide Omar.
Great video! I needed this several months ago but reddit gave me the same solution after some sleuthing.
This video is going on my desktop to paste on reddit for future book lovers in peril 😅
Yes! Now I can just link this, instead of explaining it myself. Great vid 👌
I see a bright future for this particular video!
This video was incredibly insightful! Great job!
I'm also wondering whether a disposable wooden chopstick could be useful with getting the glue deep down into the spine. But thanks, appreciated watching you do this, and the tips, tricks, advice you shared with us !

This is an amazing video, rather fix it myself then take it to a restoration place where they might do more damage than good
And they will charge you the price of a second hand omni to fix it.
I did this with my own Cap omni! I was a bit conservative with the glue the first time so I had to go back in a second time but it looks great now. Also did it with my JSA Vol 3 omni. This is a wonderful tutorial Omar!

This was super helpful!! Thank you! 🙏
Glad it was helpful!

Interesting video there Omar Ross 😜. Clever trick with the bookshelf.
This is so awesome that you made a video on this cuz I recently just bought the predator omnibus an this is the exact thing that happened so I thank you for that an as always love all your videos an thank you for being the one who started me into my omnibus journey
Omar I love that little flex with the Flexomnibu ;)
thank you. you're doing the lord's work here
I did this to my Dr Aphra, first pring omni. Worked great
Omar, This was very informative and thank for your help.
Excellent technique. I’ve done it before so I know it work! 👍
Groovy!! Thanks a bunch sir.
Great video and something ill keep in mind for reference in the future. Be very interested in more "how to videos" in the future!
That Cap omni looks amazing. First I'm learning Marky dubs wrote for Cap. I must have it. Reprint soon?
Had to recently do this with Cap by Waid, Deadpool and Co. and Runaways (damaged in the mail). After a couple of sessions (no more than 3) everything finally was repaired and safe
Thank you Omar! I have similar problems with Charles Soule's Daredevil after only one read through (and despite of careful stretching of the spine when the book was new).
Thank you for this Mr. Uncanny. This really helps.
Thanks Omar! I have literally ONE omni with bust binding, and its Cap by Waid. :P
I’m going to try this with my Marvel Z omnibus because it’s separating. Thanks for the video.
You can also use some wax paper at the edges to prevent glue from getting on the sides of the pages.
Parchment paper is even better.
Thanks Omar!!!! Needed this
Thank you for this. Not sure if you're having this issue with your Power Rangers Deluxe Hardcovers, but I am. Even my new copy of Necessary Evil Part 2 started doing this and I'm gentle when I handle my books.

I have the same problem with my spider-gwen omnibus, it's not that bad yet, but I know what to do if it gets worse. Great video
Thank you.
Thank you Omar.
Excellent idea for a video
Thank you for this! I echo other comments in saying a "how to" video every 3 or 4 months would be great. ••• "Saving Omnis one spine at a time"
Thanks heaps Omar. I need this for some if my Image books.
monstress book one?
I wonder when we're gonna get a Glue Squirting tier added to Patreon
I’ve re-glued my Waid Cap omni like 4 times. Finally I think it stayed but I’ve been to afraid to look. It’s been like 3 or so years lol
My Uncanny X-Men Classic omnibus is doing this. I'm going to fix it. Thanks!
Im excited for this... i have to fix my he-man omnibus and newest red sonja printing
Just what I needed
Such a useful video. I needed this video last year when my Absolute Dark Victory spine started to crack and split between the pages. Glued it but starting to do it again. Maybe give it another go🤔

Dealing with same issue with the same book.

i use that same glue but with small brushes.

Can you do a longer video showing all of your custom omnis?
You the man Omar 💯🔥
Thanks for the great content as usual.
I’ve seen a lot of great videos about how to open omnis, but how should I be reading them? Can I just have them open on a desk? On my lap? On my bed? Do I need one of those stands?
Mil gracias hermano! Tengo par de omnis y HC de image que requieren un ooco de amor!
How would you best fix a paperback omnibus?
You have the x-statix one, mine isnt separated but the middle open at a sharp angle.
In my opinion, the biggest problem, that you pay 100-150 bucks for an omni, and you have to fix it. Publishers need better quality controll...
That’s why I would rather just save up a little and have it custom blinded by a good company.
Does the ribon hold any important function other then cosmetics? Its a little bit lose on some of my omnis but nothing like this should i glue it or what ?
Can you make a "how to store and protect omnis"?
Question: Is it better to stack your books with the spines out?
My partner has a Masters in archival sciences and said omnibus editions being as big as they are, just standing on the shelf will eventually damage the binding.
Awesome video Omar 🙏
Is there a similar process to fix trades paper backs? My Winds of numa sera cover has almost come off the book
Also, did you fix your copy of the Bitter Root omni?
Omar I have a question. If say only one part of the binding has come loose but not the whole thing, should I more or less detach the whole or just get clue into the crevice that's come loose?
Guys, lets start a poll: Omar, show us your Custom omnis.
Awesome I was always concerned that my said Omni was the only copy like that, glad to know it was a lot of that book….ps are those custom supergirl omnibus????
Second - What's the deal with the Peter David Supergirl books? Those need to be real!
Will this glue work with paperback omnis? Like the ones from IDW
What do I do if it is super small? My ultimate xmen omnibus. It is certainly small so how to I put the glue in it if it's too small to put a brush in
Fuck yeah, dude. Love this. Gonna try it on my Punisher Max by Ennis volume 2. For some reason the signatures (Neil Gaiman told me that's what they're called) have started coming off the ribbon.

Popsicle sticks for inner parts
thank you for this.
Can somebody tells me what are the two big Supergirl Peter David albums in the bookshelves ?? I don't find this edition online, it's new or incoming ?
So just to be sure is using bamboo sticks ok to spread glue? My brushes are too big for the hole. And do u need to put glue on the underside of the bunches as well?
I'm nervous bout repair Ultimate Spider-Man omnibus 3. Last time I tried to repair Absolute Dark Victory it didn't end up very good😂
Somewhat unrelated but what do you do if you’ve stretched the spine of an Omni multiple times and there’s no eye?

I’m so sorry. :)
Amazing!
My green lantern Omnis could really use this
This has happened to my absolute sandman vol 1
Would this work for an absolute editon ?(my watchmen absolute is falling apart)...
Thanks I have a Spider-Man Omnibus I need repairing.
Was it Richard Kleidermann playing in the background? You could actually fit a piano in the basement?🤣🤣
So are those not sewn bond then?, or does that happen to sewn books too?
They are sewn binding. The issues themselves are sewn together but you have to use glue as well to have it stick to the ribbon. So sewn binding will always having sewn + glue. Glued binding is just glued down so you won’t get an eye. Hope that helps!
