Keanu Reeves doesn’t get the credit he deserves for being a great action hero. His movies Point Break, Speed, The Matrix and now John Wick have redefined the action genre in one way or another. He’s a true action icon.
Don’t know why John keeps saying John Wick created Gun Fu…it didn’t lol… but it did take it to new levels
It's almost like these people never saw Raid: Redemption or Raid 2: Berandal which were Indonesian films. Gareth Evans made those movies on a budget of $1 million and $5 million respectively, but they look like they cost 20 times that much. Very raw fighting, brutal kills, etc. John Wick borrowed a lot of that style which is why it looks so different that American made action films.
Personally I always thought the wick movies were the American equivalent of the raid films as for what they do for action genre.
No shaky cam, you can actually see the action. And holy shit the action is incredible.
Reeves’ ability to handle the martial arts and weapons choreography is a major part of the franchise appeal.
When the first movie came out, I didn’t have much expectations - I saw it on tv, like TNT or one of those cable channels. I was surprised. I loved it. I had to see the movie dvd/streaming. I was looking forward to the sequels. Not disappointed! Excellent, talented and beautiful actors. Looking forward to JW4!
I love John wick but it didn’t invent Gun-fu that was the John Woo movies. You’d think John would know that 😂
Like, I think he obviously knows Woo films. People speak in generalities and not everything is scripted. I see this sorta comment in the channel at times and the same thing applies. John is just a fan of movies and doesn't claim to be a film journalist and every thing he says is crafted perfectly. He speaks like a normal fan. And that's why I'd say he has a fanbase.

JW4 has been hyped very well for a long time. With these badass cast and intense action in a fantasy world, I think it will do better than $70 millions. I guess $80 millions.

Crazy how things are, Creed 3 and John wick 4 set to make 40mill and 70 mill respectively and its a good thing , however Ant Man 3 makes over 100 mill and its a bad thing 😅 guess Marvel spend way too much compared to other films
Marvel movies are 200 million per film plus marketing cost. These other movies do not cost even half of MCU movies and they are still better.
All 4 John wick films cost less than Thor love and thunder.

During the 90s when he came to Hollywood, his form of Gun-Fu became more flashy and stylized in his directorial efforts like Face/Off and producer credits like The Replacement Killers. Equilibrium is John Woo’s 90s Gun-Fu on cocaine. Chad Stahelski’s form of Gun-Fu is more practical and tactically proficient.

John Wick's assassins's universe is the LOTR of action movie universes xD
John Wick is like the living definition of an underground hit, leading up to the first movie it didn’t look like much of anything, it kinda just looked like a generic, throwaway action movie, but then we saw it and it turned out to be so much more than that, it had an interesting world and mythos that really shaped it into the iconic franchise it is now, and it helps that each movie seemed to expand upon that stuff, in the first movie we were introduced to the Continental, in the second movie we were introduced to things like markers, and in the third movie they showed the ritual he had to go through to get back into the Continental, like the post Ghost Protocol Mission: Impossible movies these aren’t just generic action movies, they have legitimately interesting worlds that we wanna see more of *along with* that fun, fast paced action

Pretty sure Gun Fu was praised in John Wick specifically for the editors attention to accuracy in reloading his clip. As it increases the stakes compared to the never ending 007 stunt rounds.
@@maggot216 Absolutely, but JW did not create Gun Fu anymore than F&F created the car or ensemble movie. All the respect to innovation brought to the screen. It made GF digestible for many more fans.

Gun-fu was totally used in Equilibrium back in 2002 but John Wick makes it even crazier
This is soley because they've created consistently awesome movies that properly ups the ante of the previous one. You do that, and you keep building the fanbase. Agreed. No other franchise is like John Wick, and no other actor in Hollywood is more liked/respected than Keanu Reeves (Sorry Tom Cruise)?

IT will exceed 75 million on its opening weekend and that is being conservative. It has the audience and interest to reach 100 million dollars by the end of the month!
What i compare to John Wick series...the Rambo series. Each sequel for either franchise revved up the action, also delving deep into the history of each hero.
Have to contend with John that JW “created” Gun-Fu. It’s been around since John Woo’s HK action films.

$75-80M opening weekend I’d say.
I’ve seen all 3 in the theaters and can tell the 2nd and 3rd films were eventful from the audience side. Hearing other audience goers reacting to moments in the movie, the pencil scene from the second movie and subway shoot out, in particular was awesome to be a part of.

I really wish box office records were ticket sales based instead of money made. Guess what, when ticket prices go up again, the net John Wick will "break records" too.
It is really wild to think about how big March is with its titles every week and then what the beginning of April looks like, I would also not be shocked if dungeons and dragons and the Mario movie take a good chunk out of John Wicks total

I really hope that it does but the ticket sales haven't been doing good in New York for Regal and AMC but maybe that might change as we get close to the date
