As someone who is still fairly new, I heard the 30,60,90 day rule. The rule is as follows: 30 days for your to FEEL a change 60 days for yourself to NOTICE a change 90 days for others to NOTICE a change Never get discouraged, your getting closer everyday
Started working out a little over a year ago. It takes time, but once you've been consistent for about two months it'll become a routine and honestly it's my favorite thing to do and I look forward to it every day. I feel better, happier plus the physical results are amazing.
If you are starting out at the gym and feeling discouraged. Just being consistent with your workouts are most important. Don’t worry about how hard you are working out. The very fact you are doing resistance training is going to make positive results. You will gain more muscle doing a consistent routine over a person who randomly does intense workouts just a few times a week. Make exercise a routine not a chore. People notice change in your physical appearance before you do. Good luck!
@khronosfateless Train at home, it's better anyway, less time wasted travelling and talking to people. You don't even need equipment to start. Press ups, star jumps, squats etc
As a fellow gym rat who lifts 6 days a week and has for years, I have nothing but respect for everyone who shows up; advanced lifters, casuals, or even beginners. It takes guts to show up in an intimidating place with people who have amazing physiques. If you're discouraged I promise you almost nobody is judging you for being out of shape or you not knowing how to use a machine/equipment correctly (we will judge if you're intentionally trying to show off, get attention, or create a disturbance to others around you) and it's likely in your own head. Most of us would even love to help if you asked (nobody likes the unsolicited advice person at the gym so we likely aren't going to say anything first) so to anyone who's new, don't be scared to ask somebody who's clearly experienced while they're resting if you're doing something correctly or not.
Thank you for your comment ! Gym anxiety is actually one of the biggest barriers that hinder my assiduity (along with procrastination, and wanting to have a perfect workout plan, meal plan etc.. before starting but oh well, making progress :p)
How do I get my obese female friend to lose weight. I am trying to set positive examples. I never talk to her about her weight and try to encourage her to exercise. She won’t do it though. She just sits around, eats a bunch of bad food, and drinks soda.
I normally train 6x a week but I have a mild tear in my left forearm so I can't lift weights but I still do cardio and stuff like that while I'm injured
Started at 315 back in March. Started dieting, eating way better, and exercising.. best decision I’ve ever made. Going through a rough breakup with a toxic women and now I’m happier than ever. Now I’m weighing 258. (06/06/23) and Im determined to keep editing this until I reach my goal weight.. (180-185). When you feel like giving up, think of how far along you’ve come along so far and how worth it the end result is going to be. 💪🏼💪🏼 Just an update: 09/19/23 Tomorrow marks officially 6 months since I’ve began my journey. I started getting really into boxing 🥊 and started training and eating like one. I tell you, it’s super fun. No I don’t intend on trying to compete, but I do love the workouts and the dieting. I was sick for about a week but I’m getting better now. I’m officially weighing at 228. I wanted to try and lose more but at least I’m headed in the right direction. I’m so happy I can actually see my arm veins and leg veins popping out now. 😭 will update again soon. KEEP PUSHING! 01/14/24 Heyyy everybody ! I know I been slacking on the updates! Still going hard but just ran into a plateau due to me also tryna build muscle. 😮💨 still working out 6 days a week and eating right! I am currently weighing 214, BUT I’ve also lost more inches around my stomach! I finally fit into larges 😭 it’s been 5 years since! My veins are also popping out a lot more since I’ve been drinking nothing but water and eating right! Working out twice a day on my days off and one during work days! It’s been such a relief and exercising has changed my life drastically. 😭 I feel great, look even healthier with my glow, and now I LOVE working out and I’ve made it a lifestyle! Crazy to see where I was months ago. I had to update since I’ve forgot but I didn’t wanna leave everybody asking with no updates! I’m trying to get a solid 195-200 lbs by my one year on March 20th! Keep pushing ppl! I’m telling you now, you will not regret it. It gets so much easier! 09/08/2024 Hi everybody. I know I’ve been slacking with the update. But I’ve officially hit 185 lbs. I’ve still been very active with the boxing workouts and I met someone very special in my life. I’m getting ready to be a first time father so I know keeping my health up, will keep me on this earth as long as I can for my child. I really appreciate everybody asking me. 🙏 I fell off the tracks for about a month or so but I got back on it and didn’t let it conquer me. Never give up ! It took ne longer than expected but I made it. You can do it everybody. I have a second life now and now I’m getting ready to be a first time father. 💪🏼
Get another gf yet? I'm in the same situation She's f****** her manager but he is flabby and works at fast food I work UPS from 3 to 9 in the morning and then I hit the gym from 11 to 3 I do five miles of cardio and light lifting beginner level throughout the session, this guy just lifts fries and lives in a trailer either she'll be back or someone better will take her place
After getting sober after years of drug use I started to hit the gym almost daily and I’m in the best shape in my life!!! I’m so thankful I made it out alive and have a new lease on life and my health! Working out has definitely been a part of my recovery and helps to fight off the urge to pick up again.
As someone who has been working out on a strict exercise routine for 8+ years I can completely testify to craving working out. I look forward to getting up every morning and working out before work
Meanwhile I’m here just trying to have a will to live living a VERY sedentary lifestyle. I’m gonna do this. Just got a treadmill. I wanna do an hour every day at least. I want to get liposuction but I feel like I mostly have visceral fat which won’t be solved by Lipo. So while I’m saving up for a Lipo and BBL ill be working on my visceral fat. I know no one cares I just like to type out my goals so I can find the motivation to start lol
The best part to exercising is the pain for me. The feeling that your body is burning and hurt. That feeling when you know your muscles are getting bigger and stronger. Especially when training for martial arts like boxing and wrestling 💪🏽
I started at 300 and am currently 276 a month in just going an hour/ hour and a half of cardio! It makes a huge difference in everything and this video could not have popped up at a better time! Keep going!
I was 260bs when I was 25yo. I was 155 in 4 months. I ate far less, and i mesn less. My biggest and sometimesonly meal of the day was one top raman noodle pack, hungry all the time, but didn't starve myself. I became more active, but didn't "work out" Just walking around alot, basketball hoop solo outside. Yard work/play.
Good job there! 2 yrs ago I was almost 210 pounds but I reversed it, and are now down to 160, don't want to go any lower. Now I train 5-6 times a week doing split program and I can't live without it and if I don't train for 2 days, I start to feel an effect on my mood. I've started struggeling with elbow pain though.
I started working out last year. I started going to the gym for 30 mins in the morning and 1 year later I am there for 2 hours. I stay longer and longer now because my body wants it. I never thought I would enjoy waking up at 4am to go to the gym and start my day😭😭😭
@@coach9410 yez i am 18 and i am very thick but i joined gym and in 1 week i feel very good after. Workout no matter i will get that protein powder or not but i still enjoy gym
Was told I was too old at 40! Started training in crumbling garage lifting rocks doing PUSH UPS on paint cans pull UPS on beams got ripped af at 51 years old!!!
I work out about 5 years now. Trust me. It is the best decision I ever made. I reached a point where I LOOK FORWARD to my excersise every single morning. The trick is to make it part of your morning or evening routine. I wake up everyday at 6 and excersise at 8. Every single day. And I look and feel amazing. Women adore my body too. I feel very disciplined. And whatever happens in my life; whatever I may fail at... I know that, should I die today, at least I have been a big success in one thing in life: I mastered and conquered my body. It's just such a good feeling.
Glad to hear I'm 4 years in never went to the gym but built a good body at home trying to get abs now I also started boxing and the cardio is very crazy but the social interaction makes up for it its good to see other people enjoying their workouts
Been lifting weights for a while and i LOVE IT. Arms big, i can lift most thinfs with ease whereas i see my friends struggle. I recently started running 2 miles a day and the first day felt like i was going to die and couldnt even make it a mile. Now 1 week later im running 2 miles non stop, not the greatest times, but i can do it without stopping. The best thing about excersise is the that the 1st day is always the hardest! Best of luck to everybody wanting to get in better shape!
Absolutely. Been active all my life. Started lifting weights in HS. 28 now and hasn’t stopped since, your body will repay you in your later years my guy. Guarantee!
@@smoothpicker keep going friend! Now I cut my run time by like 2 minutes was averaging about 10 minutes a mile yesterday I was able to run an eight and a half minute mile still far from my goal but definitely making progress
@@Unpopularopinionbutitsok yeah weightlifting has definitely always been my go-to and I've been doing that for years now but cardio I always avoided but now that I'm doing it as much as I hate it I can't deny how better I feel
When discouraged by a lack of change in your outward appearance, it's important to recognize that the change is happening below the surface. You will feel results before you see them. Keep track of your sets and reps and the weights you're moving, and celebrate when those numbers go up. Be proud of thay accomplishment, recognize it, because for a while that's the only results you're going to see. I used to not be able to do push-ups at all. Then I started doing them regularly. It hurt at first and I could only do a few at a time, but feeling the work become easier and then pushing myself to make it difficult again kept me motivated enough to get to the point where I was seeing actual, physical results.
Pushups got easier for me and I love doing them. I do dumbbell hammers, lateral raises, lunges. I drink milk, eat apples or eat beans and rice after. I dont see my muscles growing bigger than they already are. I dont know if they're at least getting stronger
@@Tribrid-zv3nq I'm not a professional by any means so please don't take my words as gospel, but you might need to increase the amount of weight you're lifting. If you're not feeling a solid, loose sort of achiness in the muscle groups you were working, then you really didn't push them hard enough to stimulate growth. If you can, consult with a professional. It sounds like your diet is good.
@@rookhobbes9055 thanks for the advice. I do actually feel a ton of achiness. Part of me tells myself it'll take a few more weeks with more or the same amount of work to see growth and the other apart is.. well unsure
I started working out again recently and I pulled the muscles in my shoulders and elbows all because I benched wrong once. Remember to also make sure you are paying attention to your safety while you work out so you don’t hurt yourself :)
@@calm2844 this comment is contradictory to itself. Benching is a great exercise, and there are variants for different focuses/needs. Your shoulders are in a more safe position when you don't bench with as wide a grip. Decline bench is safer on the shoulders as well, and floor presses are even safer, though your triceps and shoulders get most of the work rather than your chest with that one. Benching is a skill, so you need practice to be good at it.
I need some motivation. One of my least favorite exercise is pushups. I have decided that genuinely for every like I get on this comment I will do 1 pushup. I want to use this as fuel for me to keep going.
How about planks? You can do 30 second planks and rest 15-30 seconds in between. Do 5 and then do something else. After three other reps do them again. I hate pushups but planks build your arm muscle first.
This video makes me feel so good. Honestly being in shap has soooooo much advantage, it’s a shame that some people will live their lives not knowing the full benefits of their bodies.
3 weeks of arms/legs/back and I feel so much better. My diet is so much better, most of my stomach eating itself in the morning is gone, and when I wake up early in the morning I typically don't feel too tired compared to what I used to. Completely worth it.
I use to weigh-in at 241lbs. I now weigh-in at 174lbs. I started working out 3 days week. Now I'm at 4-5 days consistently. Day 1 (Tuesday) is triceps, shoulders and chest. Wednesday is leg day. On Thursday I do biceps and back. Friday is rest day. Saturday I do the stair master for 35 mins. Workout my core then go swimming for 30 mins. Sunday is full body workout, 2-3 sets each. Mondays and Fridays are rest days.
@@nathanielsibanda4789 You will see the biggest results in the first like 2 months. Im have good genetics but I get skinny when I dont lift cause I dont eat. Im 6'1 and was 170 like a month ago and now im 193 and strong again. All from like a month of eating alot and gym everyday.
As someone who could barely do 5 pushups a month ago to now currently doing 100+ pushups 6 days a week I wholeheartedly agree with everything stated in this video! Good Luck to all who are motivated for physical change all is possible with consistent hard work 💪
I’ve been active most of my life but never consistently in the gym daily until covid. I’m now 35/Female 5’8 and 130. I do 3 to 4 yoga classes a week, lift weights 5 days a week and heavy cardio sessions 5 times a week along with daily mile walks outside with my dog. I’m better shape than high school and feel maybe 23. Life is so much better when you feel good.
Man I needed this, I started working out again for the first time since high school, it’s been 3 weeks and I was feeling a little defeated because I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted, now I know I just need to be more patient and I know it’s working because the workouts are getting easier. Thanks for the video!
@@manmoth4 been around 6.5-7 weeks ish now since I started and as far as visuals go there’s not much that isn’t just a result of weight loss but I’ve gained a lot more control over my muscles and I’m noticeably stronger, things at work that used to be heavy are becoming a breeze. Glad I started working out again
@@skater123256 Yeah, beginner gains are faster. At that stage, strength gains aren't just a result of hypertrophy, but connective tissues reformat for greater effective leverage and stuff. I got to a 2 plate overhead press recently, and it's pretty sweet. People even point out how strong my wife is now she's been coming with me for a year lol. She can curl 30kg.
One thing I noticed when I started exercising, i didn’t just start getting less hungry, but my body actually started getting a lot pickier with what all I put in it.
I always fall from the part when I've been working out for a week and can't see some gains it always discourage me and before I even know it i'm back with my old habit of not working out. But this video shed a light of hope to me and gives me another perspective of working out, I'll try again starting tomorrow with different mindset : )
I tries working out for 3 years same thing as you 2 week super motivated 2 hour workout a day then stoped the thing that worked in the end was a simple routine wich you can build up i just did push ups and planks everyday and after 6 months i felt confident enough to go to the gym
This works for physique as well as weight gain/lose: adjust your frequency for checking. If you did it daily, do it weekly. I'd you did it weekly, do it monthly. If you check too frequently, you can't possibly see the changes. Check yourself out in a month and you'll clearly see results
I can tell you I've been working out for 3 months now and honestly there were weeks where I wasn't consistent during the summer, that's just life. But the thing that always made me keep going was the pump, seeing my forearms triceps biceps chest etc. look 10x thicker and every other muscle group really motivates me. Aside from that my confidence skyrocketed (as did my testosterone) I felt strong mentally, so when I don't work out for like a week I start feeling self-conscious because I'm living to comfortably.
Good things take time. Keep up with your work and don‘t look to much in the mirror for your muscles becaus you will never notice them but if you look once a week than you will see changes also let your friends and family be your guide, they will notice the changes and it will make you feel happy. But don‘t expect them to see it afters a month or two because like I said it takes time but it will be a good time and a wonderful time. Also don‘t compare yourself with others every body is unique and not every workout will give you the same results as others. First take time to finde your own workout routine and when you find it keep doing it. You can try diferente once, once in a while but don‘t expect too much. I believe in you, you can do it 💪🏼 and keep going. The hard way is the best way, it takes longer but the reward is so much better. And also here a little quot: comparison is the thief of joy ~ theodore roosevelt
I started lifting 3 months ago and while I haven’t seen any HUGE physical changes yet, I feel SO awesome about myself! I have been consistently moving onto heavier weights and I’m able to do so much more stuff without feeling fatigued! It’s improve my self confidence and just recently for the first time I looked in the mirror and said “Dang I look good!” Working out it so worth it!
Have been planning to hit the gym over a year ago. If I can get 20 likes, I will hit the gym as a motivation, and I will come here for an update. Thanks
Started to go to the gym 2 months ago and I can recommend it, helps if u have a friend to start with but after a few weeks you will get the hang of things. 👍
@@intermilan9731 not true some people have 6 day workout weeks such as myself, all just depends on what your body can handle and how quickly it recovers
@@MonstaaBoii Unless you are on heavy amounts of roids(Another counter productive to health), working out even 5 days non-stop is counter productive and will leave u tired and weak. It's not scientifically and biologically supported in anyway even if you have ultra freak genetics. But if you are not talking about full body workouts, but specific body parts, such as arms on Sundays and legs on Monday etc, then I guess you can train everyday.
I started going to the gym just a few months ago twice a week mainly doing upperbody work after being self conscious for years. I've improved my bench by 65lbs from 95 to 160 now and hope to keep going up and even added a leg day and maybe in time I'll do a 4th day a week. It makes me more confident and I feel healthier and it motivated me to fix my diet too.
7 days in here! I'm not feeling disappointed in having no physical change, I feel absolutely amazing cause exercising has helped me in many ways! I'm going to pushing and create a new me!
I like this video. I like the reality checks that it has. Pointing out that after a week, no matter how hard you exercise, you will look the same. Most people go to the gym because they think they look tubby or fat. Then after a week of hard work and feeling hungry, they look the same! This is why it’s a good idea to take a before and after photo after about a month
I wouldn’t be taking a “second picture” for at least 4 months ideally 6. If it’s necessary to keep you going try it. However it’s obsession on losing weight could be counterproductive. The issue is you put on muscle weight that is absolutely necessary to allow harder work outs. So that weight you gained is really swapping fat for muscle as well your body uses fat to cushion large muscles. Fat isn’t the enemy it’s just fat!!!
I agree with you and Curtis. If you are looking for small gains it’s better to do the inverse and do a pic after 3-6 months, and if you’re someone who needs to see progress, start at 1 month if you’re diligent lifting/eating and then do a pic every other week or so until you get you insta pic :) then just workout like a normal person with no pictures.
SW 150kg, 2 years later im 110kg. first step is always the hardest but you just gotta start and keep going, eventually it will become part of your life
You get stronger fell better look better and gain more energy and confidence trust the process and don’t give up cause your not seeing the results you want right away it takes time everybody is different but also everyone has the potential to be the best version of there self in my opinion.
Thank you so much! I'm joining gym for 1st time after this week and I really wanted to know how much time it'll take! But now I don't care how much time it'll take, it's time to beat 'lazy personality' of mine
This video is the best I’ve ever seen on exercising. It’s really motivated me to get fit. I’m very stressed. I will listen to this a lot. I know this will help. Thank you so much.
Fantastic video. I am on my 2nd year of long distance, high elevation hiking, and all the benefits mentioned here are completely true. The greatest benefits were the boost in mental health and my mobility/balance. I hope people will learn that life is so much better when you give yourself a chance to exercise regularly, despite the brief discomfort felt when starting out. It will always be 100% worth the effort in the end 😄
I feel so much happier after I started excercising at first it was tiring and annoying but after a month or so of skipping workouts and so on it actually became fun I started feeling better and it became addictive like really its amazing!
I've been working out for 4 months but recently got Covid19 and had to take 2 weeks break. I have to say that going back to the gym took more energy and I felt like I went back to the starting point after just 2 weeks of stopping.
Yeah man I was 5 weeks into my first gym endeavor and got COVID and had to take 2 weeks off too. Last week was my first week back. I didn't lose any of the small amount of strength gained, but definitely notice my energy levels are depleted. Just going to go back to my first few week routine and start again (albeit at slightly higher working weights). I am already looking forward to leg day tomorrow - I have faith we will both find ourselves on our feet again in no time :)
I’ve always been a distance runner and never really had anything to do with the gym. This video came at a perfect time because I just started a new workout plan in the gym. Will update this comment after a while with my progress
I’m loving my fitness journey. I’m way passed the “procrastination/hesitation” phase. Now it’s just a part of my weekly routines. I’m very curious how I’ll look after the year is up.
Just started lifting again after years of not consitently going to the gym. I am almost a week in now, and I feel great already! I love that I am sore again and I have never slept this good in a long time. I am starting to crave the gym a little more each time though. I love it. This video has motivated me even more! Thank you!
Ive been working out for almost a year. I did take a week off here and there and went 2 days a week here and 3 there but I routinely go 4 days a week. I went from 185 to 205. I had a gut and no pecs and skinny arms. My gut has slimmed down. My pecs actually have a little of that curve shape at the bottom. My arms are a full inch bigger. I look alot better. People notice I'm bigger and wider. It takes months to years to see the real change but stick with it. It gets fun once you make it past a couple months and you'll make some actual friends at the gym. Don't be scared. 100 % of people who go and stick with it, don't regret it
Infographics has been on a roll recently with these past few educational videos. I loved this video and all the other ones that increase my knowledge. This particular video makes me want to workout even more now lol. Great info, keep it up 👍
tookk me like a solid 5 years to actually go consistently, been going just about every day for the past 9 months and ive gone from 115lbs to 145lbs of muscle. my mood has massively improved, stress is reduced and i feel way more awake and alert throughout the day. it's hard, but what i had to learn is that it's not about motivation, as motivation is temporary. you must discipline yourself, sacrificing your comfort for the greater good, and working out when it's the last thing you want to do. but after a little while it becomes easier and something you enjoy and take passion in. took me about 2-3 months to really get into it and now i'll never look back.
I'm 28, and I haven't been actively working out in over 10 years due to life problems. But, now, I'm starting to get back again. It may take awhile to get strong and flexible again, but I managed to lose 10lbs of fat. It's a process.
Only been going for about a week, and compared to day 1 I actually look forward to the next day, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t like to do exercises if need be, also started 75 hard the same day and jeez the drastic effects are crazy. Feel better then last week by a lot
I am an HES major (Health and Exercise Science) and I love this video! Despite that I have a lot of knowledge regarding health and exercise, it can still be hard to apply them. Consistency is the main factor in maintaining physical fitness and healthy dietary lifestyle. There are SOOO many people that have no knowledge, so it’s always important to spread the word 👏🏽 Also even though I know a lot of exercise physiology, i still like watching these and kind of testing myself lol
Returned to my usual workout routine today after being off for 2 months due to: injury, sinus infection, work trip, Covid , and it generally being too hot outside. Can confirm I’m sore but I am so looking forward to good quality sleep and the mood boost I get!
How are you now? Did it improve anything besides sleep/mood? Is your immune system better or worse? I always had mixed results with it - like getting sick more while exercising.
I’ve been hitting the gym on and off doing different routines etc; and every time I would start back up I absolutely dreaded it! Usually around 2 weeks in I would look forward to going almost like I was craving it and would look forward to hitting the gym after work
Started at 227lb and i am down to 196lb in 6 months i am also trying to keep weight for muscle growth but i feel amazing! I also work a manual labor job so i have to kinda go semi easy! If you are thinking about going do it youll thank yourself in the long run
I'm an introvert nerd who decided to try the gym out at 35 with a friend, and I realized it's not as impossible to go a few times a week as I thought. It's one of my favorite hobbies 2 months in, but it is a little hard to go. And a little painful to actually work hard. But you feel much better all the time.
Again to all who have no gym membership, here's some intense training that will obtain you the best results: 100 pushups 100 leg lifts 100 squats Half hour run Diet: Mainly plant based foods, eggs and water(with the help of intermittent fasting) Fastest way to cool off and recover(and do not use ac during the summer or heat in the winter): Take cold showers Also for rest: Go to bed on time and have rest days(weekends are the best time to have rest days)and make sure your room is dark and cold so to speed up the weight loss process *Your welcome again in hindsight*
I have lost 45 pounds in the last 2 months of diet alone with 2 laps of walking in the park some mornings. This video taught me so much that I didn't even know I needed to know. Thank you so much for this video and really gave me more motivation to try even harder and I feel excited to do it ❤️
Let me just clarify, because the narrator did not. 1) Most people will never work out hard enough to have the negative effects discussed in the video. These negative physical and mental effects only really occur if you completely ignore your body’s natural reactions in lieu of completing that extra set. I’m a strong believer in working out just shy of failure, but I also have thoroughly explored my limits in the gym, and am lucky enough to have great friends and mentors who guided me through the process while offering me a seemingly unlimited amount of support. Soreness is normal, pain is not. Learn your body’s limits, as your body is the most important tool you will ever have in your life. 2) If you ever have any pain or discomforts that last longer than 2 days, talk to your doctor. After not working out for a while, and restarting exercise, you will get something called Delayed Onset Muscle Syndrome(DOMS), but this is really just some extra strength soreness. As long as you listen to your body, you’ll be perfectly all right. 3) This is my most important piece of advice for anyone scared of being judged for going to the gym. Let me just tell you that everyone else is way too worried about their own workout to even offer a second glance in your direction. Your dreams are closer than you could ever imagine, you just have to have the willingness to reach for them.
One of - if not the most important thing will be to get yourself a good (preferably better than just good) personal trainer to take you through the initial couple of weeks, at least. Don't do it all by yourself, assuming you know what you're doing. Plus, improve your dietary habits leading up to the the time you start. Not all at once. Steady and consistent progress. Biggest mistake most make are those two. Third, keep a detailed training journal. Makes a huge difference. Short and long term. Lifestyle has been a part of my life for close to 28 years (I'm now 51)
@@yuppy178 depends really, if you're a beginner you really don't need to go all out. Start out with 2 to 3 times a week consistently. Then you can up it to 4-7 depending in your workout splits and type of training.
I’ve been working out on the elliptical for over a year now. While my cardiac performance has improved - I can use the elliptical for longer now, and my resting heart rate has decreased - that is about it. My mood hasn’t improved, I’m still mostly depressed. My sleep hasn’t improved, still get restless nights and nightmares. My memory hasn’t improved, I still feel like I’m in a blur all the time. Started strength exercises in June after I found out it’s benefits, and while I do feel stronger, nothing else has improved. To top that off, I have anxiety issues, and now whenever I don’t exercise, I get anxious. Like if I’m out on a family vacation, I feel stressed that I can’t get my normal workout in. I’m down with the flu now, but I still force myself to get on the elliptical. After watching this video, I now have to force myself to lift the weights and do some squats. This doesn’t seem right..I think I’m broken.
Unless you're trying to compete for an epileptical competition or something, it's ok to miss workouts during vacations, events, when you're sick or just have to do life. It's great that you have the discipline to stick to your routine, not many can do it but it's fine if you need to take time off. Even pro athletes need them. Other than that, you may consider consulting a mental health professional. Just like how one would consult a trainer/professional at the gym if they get stuck.

Don’t know if I agree with your statement at 5:40. Working out while your muscles are sore would be like rubbing sand paper on an open cut and hoping it would heal. (Assuming it’s a full body workout like it was pictured in the video) Now, if you split your workouts into muscle groups you can workout more often while your body repairs the sore muscles.
@@r4an-_-103 been working out for almost a year now and it took me 2 weeks to start seeing definition, and 1-2 months to see an increase in mass. best advice i can give is focus on strength not appearance. the more you pay attention to your appearance the longer it'll seem to take to get results. if you focus on strength your appearance changes will surprise you and it'll be easier to motivate yourself
Haha😂 i remember the first time i went to the gym. Me and my cousin did legs and we killed it. We thought wed be very sore the next day. We were wrong. We didnt feel sore. We actually thought we didnt workout hard enough. Then the next day came…😂 it was painful getting in/out of bed, sitting in the toilet, walking etc.
I started working out in February 2023 and have been consistently going since. The first 2 months I hated it and just recently I finally started enjoying it and looking forward to going to the gym! I plan to continue going and eventually hit my goal weight of 170!
I like how this video also shows how it's possible to work out too often. I used to play soccer and I was simply doing too much cardio at one point to where I didn't want to eat, was constantly sore and tired, and simply felt like my body was numb. I know that may sound weird, but I just had no real feeling or pain in my muscles anymore. I was fit sure, but it was also unhealthy and I didn't have enough body fat. Lots of people talk about lowering body fat, but when it's too low your body doesn't respond that well. I simply didn't have a good enough balance. Sure my physical performance was good, when trying out for varsity as a first year I had some of the best endurance on the team, but I needed to eat more to create a healthy balance and find something to enjoy while working out too as during that time I lost my love for playing the game through my experience. Sure I could have continued or I could even go back now, but I know now I want to find a better balance that fits my lifestyle and schedule. It's also funny how appetite goes does down the more you work out, I find that crazy.
I just started to exercise because I got depressed. My mentality has broken down, and I start to feel more depressed everyday. I don't have no one to encourage me, so I start to build my confidence again by starting to exercise. I just started around a few days this week, and it was so painful but it made me feeling distracted from my depression.
Keep it up no matter how small the workout its better then nothing don't give up keep pushing, I myself started a week ago I'm 26 male was 187Ib and wanted to lose weight as I have my first child on the way with ny wife current weight is 181 I eat only one meal a day at 6pm and do 1 mile walk after work and 11Ib dumbell lifts after the walk and then a cool shower and meal prep for dinner and eat then bed early thats my current rutine
Hi , may I share my experience as well , I just wanted to say that , what you eat , and what you do everyday defines you. Every part of our body have its own muscle memory. Our body is our own temple and universe ... And that is the magic by being a human. I was once a jacked lean boy when I was 20 ... I researched pretty much heavily into how to keep my body and my brain healthy ,, and at that time , I could say that I was at my prime time... I have no problem in health, no insecurities what so ever , I was at only 9% body fat percentage and my brain functions so well I could feel it. But then something happened... Well I'd say ... Major incident or major traumatic experience happened in my life. And I got into depression, I admitted for 2 weeks into a strict mental ward .... I lose almost all my motivation to get moving...and I was suicidal for 2 years straight. But at 23 , I decided to get back up... Despite being so generally anxious ... (I also got G.A.D) I decided to get back up from my jobless life , and strive until I earn myself almost 3000$ dollar a month. At 24 I was able to buy my own car and needs ... But I still feel pretty empty , still feel that I am so lost and felt that I have that missing pieces that I need to find.I tried changing job, getting a girl, playing games, and so on ... But then I realized none of that helped me feel complete... And now I'm 25 and was jobless for 2 month now. But I felt happier than ever, why? Because I started eating healthy, and Ive done so many exercises.. I started taking genuine supplement... And start eating many2 type of food that my body needs, including herbs... I started realize that I was someone else in only 2 month length, I was happier than before .... I watched my depression goes away slowly and I almost felt like it crawl out of my body. My body start gaining the muscle that it lost ( which in my case, I have abit of muscle memory left ) And I feel like a new big bang inside my body starting to explode and create a new whole meaning. Remember... Your mind and body is what defines you... It is like a temple. If you build it so beautifully... It'll be beautiful to yourself and people out there, you will attract more success that you could ever imagine... Now I'm in the peak of my confidence and I will start a big business despite being jobless.. And my guy, even if you're giving up one day , and wanted to take rest .... What you've build and what you've given to your body, will thank you... It will remain historical, like a temple... A beautiful history. And that my guy... What I call and define 'love yourself' .. don't let any body get thru you.
For those hardgainers, this is probably the reason you're not gaining weight. You don't eat enough, regardless of metabolism, your body will tell you if you're eating enough by gaining weight. Don't compare how much you eat with others. I myself didn't gain weight while i eat 3x heavy meal a day. Now i ate 6 heavy meals a day, i did gain 1.5-2lbs per week. High calorie, high carb high protein diet.
I'm a Hardgainer too, i eat 4-5 meals a day. But can't achieve the proteins needed because of my allergies to certain foods eapecially eggs and chickens. And also i have Acid Reflux, I can't eat heavy meals. Im struggling gaining weight, I've been going to gym for 1 year and im still skinny, tho i gained some muscle unlike before that im super skinny. But I'm still trying to gain weight by doing home workout, push ups and lifting dumbells. Then trying to get that 5-6 meals and also the sleep i needed.
@@xchino0427It might not be, everyone has different body types and metabolisms. I could eat 4 meals a day and only gain a few pounds, but my half brother has to limit his eating habits to 1-2 meals a day (he likes fasting so he can eat whatever)

Come to Jesus and receive peace from depression. Jesus loves you and wants you. John 28-30 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
As someone who starts over workout routine 1-2 times every year (for unrelated reasons) I know those symptoms all too well. But lately I found out that making first 3-4 training sessions really easy (within reason) allows me to get to "full mode" training without any suffering. I basically warm up, do usual exercises with almost half less weight and repeats and cool down with mostly walking and lazy moves. Of course there is some minor pain and stiffness, but not much worse then during stretching after sleep and it actually feels good. Trying to make up for all slacking in first training is a big mistake. It makes next training feel like punishment and discourages you. Let yourself be lazy for 1-2 weeks and then you'll wonder how seamlessly you are back to full mode and happily progressing.
The first month is always the worst. I was living a very sedately lifestyle and was always depressed and over weight. I’ve been going to the gym for 8 months now and I feel great! Honestly the gym is my favorite time of the day now. If you are here thinking of you should do it, do it! Just do it.
I have a sendentary lifestyle and addicted to coffee, I'm not overweight but just weak and even just holding my arms up for 10 seconds start to feel sore. One day I made the decision to wean out my coffee intake for two weeks until i stop feeling the withdrawal symptoms. Then I started riding my bike everyday for an hour then more and more each day doing hillclimbs, and do stretches, push ups and squats. Now I feel better, not as anxious, have more motivation to do normal daily things. I no longer drink coffee. Just do it slowly. Every one has a different body but you just have to keep at it to build new habbits. I don't have visible muscles but I do feel better. 10x more than when I started. Best thing I did.
I like the taste and feel of coffee and the feeling though, decaf or tea doesn't cut it for me. But I'd say it would help with energy levels naturally. I should try cutting it but I've drank at least 5/6 mugs if black coffee since I was 11 or so. I lost 100+ lbs last year and I felt better at first, more energy, etc. I lost a lot of muscle also because I only focused cardio. Now I want to be properly built but it's fairly daunting not knowing where to start. I suppose changing something might help to overcome dependence
@@illestvillain1971 100lbs lost that's a win. You should try checking out some resistance rubber bands where you can do multiple resistance exercises. I bought some, you can hang those on the wall and pull. That's what I'm doing right now. You could try to lessen your daily coffee intake. Try around 80% at first and see how your body reacts. To some people coffee has benefits, too bad for me it doesn't because it gives me anxiety. I miss it though, especially when I have my own coffee plants in the back, I used to roast my own coffee.

@@manmoth4 no, my body fat percentage has actually gone down by like 1% surprisingly. Also, i would be fine with putting on more fat, since I need it to bulk if I want a good cut. But thanks for the info

Good luck!
This right here stay consistent and you’ll see a change
The most important thing is to give up forever and go and eat some trash food while lying in bed sobbing 👌
Intense workouts a few times a week is not consistent?
@khronosfateless Train at home, it's better anyway, less time wasted travelling and talking to people. You don't even need equipment to start. Press ups, star jumps, squats etc
Discipline is the magic word.

How about planks? You can do 30 second planks and rest 15-30 seconds in between. Do 5 and then do something else. After three other reps do them again. I hate pushups but planks build your arm muscle first.

On Thursday I do biceps and back. Friday is rest day. Saturday I do the stair master for 35 mins. Workout my core then go swimming for 30 mins. Sunday is full body workout, 2-3 sets each.
Thanks for the video!
lol I expect to gain maybe 1 rep in three weeks, try closer to a year to see visible changes
It takes months to see results and years to build muscle. Just keep going
Hey you still workout? If so how’s your progress
I'm so proud of that little guy in the animation... so encouraging 😄
A week won’t change anything it doesn’t work that way don’t get discouraged just stay consistent

U can see change depending on yur workouts
SW 150kg, 2 years later im 110kg. first step is always the hardest but you just gotta start and keep going, eventually it will become part of your life
You get stronger fell better look better and gain more energy and confidence trust the process and don’t give up cause your not seeing the results you want right away it takes time everybody is different but also everyone has the potential to be the best version of there self in my opinion.

2+ months in and haven’t seen any physical progress…but my severe back pain is gone so that’s a huge plus.
Train until failure
Lifestyle has been a part of my life for close to 28 years (I'm now 51)
I knew all of this stuff, but I didn't know how it happened, this video answered it. Thank you...
Majority of people shouldn't worry about exercising too much
Definitely.
How many hours a week should we exercise and for how many hours?
@@yuppy178 about 1 to 3 hours you might say why so long it yiu take breaks between sets so it takes long
@@yuppy178 depends really, if you're a beginner you really don't need to go all out. Start out with 2 to 3 times a week consistently. Then you can up it to 4-7 depending in your workout splits and type of training.
I’m a recovering addict myself and after 7-8 years clean as of 2022 I’m happy to say this is an addiction I hope I never kick to the curb❤
The most important thing is staying consistent. The second you fall off, you will feel terrible. Especially the next time you workout
@@looneystar123 I know this sounds crazy, but all these workout apps makes me feel like I must hit all targets all the time. Don’t know if I agree with your statement at 5:40. Working out while your muscles are sore would be like rubbing sand paper on an open cut and hoping it would heal. (Assuming it’s a full body workout like it was pictured in the video) Now, if you split your workouts into muscle groups you can workout more often while your body repairs the sore muscles.

do you eat healthy?

Exercise will only help your mind distract you from depression, it won't necessarily fix it
Today is my day 22, watching this video to encourage myself to continue, thank you so much
For those hardgainers, this is probably the reason you're not gaining weight.
Understand
I'm a Hardgainer too, i eat 4-5 meals a day. But can't achieve the proteins needed because of my allergies to certain foods eapecially eggs and chickens. And also i have Acid Reflux, I can't eat heavy meals. Im struggling gaining weight, I've been going to gym for 1 year and im still skinny, tho i gained some muscle unlike before that im super skinny. But I'm still trying to gain weight by doing home workout, push ups and lifting dumbells. Then trying to get that 5-6 meals and also the sleep i needed.
6 heavy meals??? That's too much and takes up lot of time
@@xchino0427It might not be, everyone has different body types and metabolisms. I could eat 4 meals a day and only gain a few pounds, but my half brother has to limit his eating habits to 1-2 meals a day (he likes fasting so he can eat whatever)
how old are you? mk677 can help with growing your appetite. its not a sarm or steroid so its relatively healthy.
How are you keeping up with the demand of your videos while still keeping the quality of your contents good your the best keep it up.

Come to Jesus and receive peace from depression. Jesus loves you and wants you.
John 28-30
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Just do it.
This is great. I started working out 3 months ago, down 50lbs
That’s why you need to reduce intake
I’ve been lifting for around 5-6 ish months and put on 15-18 pounds. It’s been really fun and I’ve just introduced creatine to my lifting, so I’m excited to see how much further I come in the next half year.
Well a gifted beginner natural lifter can gain 10-15 pounds in their first year lifting, so you've likely upped your calories too much and are putting on significant fat
@@manmoth4 no, my body fat percentage has actually gone down by like 1% surprisingly. Also, i would be fine with putting on more fat, since I need it to bulk if I want a good cut. But thanks for the info
@@manmoth4 it’s actually about 16-28…
@@Evanw10282 Nope lol. 70%+ of guys you see at the gym are on something, it's not just huge bodybuilders. Alternatively, how many bulk while eating around maintenance calories? Everyone thinks they need 3k+, no wonder their scale goes up fast, they get fat. Follow the science, not lying gymbros
I love this
After years of playing video games, drug and alcohol use I started working out. Now 1 week in, I feel better and get better sleep, feel more alive (not tired all the time) and overall feel great, finally doing something good. I just hope I wont stop working out as I have habit of stoping doing stuff after some time. If you are reading this please tag and remind me not to stop. Thanks! ❤
@@ErdingerLi you could start with some pushups not even much just like 50 get used to it and if you got dumbbells you can lift whenever your not doing anything watching tv playing games etc a job where your moving a lot helps too
Love that the “week 1” image you used is my freaking goal. Thanks for that.
After watching their 30 day exercise challenge, I decided to try it as well.
Couldn't do all the exercises (especially the exotic one's), the first few days were exhausting but now the exercises are a lot easier, except the pushups and plank 💀
Just keep working at it and apply progressive overload. Keep consistent and you’ll see results!
Not exercising->weak, heart attack risk, type 2 diabetes risk
Exercising->strong, no heart attack risk, no type 2 diabetes risk
Over exercising->weak, heart attack risk, type 2 diabetes risk
*CONFUSED CONFUSING CONFUSION*
I listen to your videos when I workout sometimes like they’re a podcast cuz I get learn a lot while getting stronger
Great
Man I thought I was the only one 😂
Very informative ❤ thank you now I understand the importance of exercising and how the body changes
9:11 HE SAID THE THING 🎉
I got this recommended on my 2nd gym day after years, youtube algorithm is something else
This makes senses now. Over a year ago I started lifting weights and I jumped straight into body building working out with 150+ lbs. I couldn't seem to get enough sleep or rest and I dreaded waking up in the morning to work out. After quitting for over a year I felt better but I started getting a gut... here I am starting slow. It's been 2 weeks and I feel better I'll wait on lifting weights for a few more months.
