Loved the video and great shots! Really enjoying my S9 too, especially for casual family memories, realtime LUT has been a game changer. Bringing my camera everywhere now and no editing. Still have my S5ii for times I need it. Loved your LUT, those photos look incredible. Will need to try the Sigma 10-18, I’m using the i series primes with mine.
Amen, the S9 is a breath of fresh air, I've never been so happy with a piece of tech before! The 10-18 is cool, I just picked it up for real estate to replace the 16-28.
I own a S5 and S5II, for photo and video respectively, but I'm lacking the S9 for when I'm not working. Still loving my GX80 for my free time, but I'm itching to have a compact FF like this one. But, I don't have money for it. You should check out the i-series Contemporary from Sigma. Super compact lenses with almost no compromises, which look to be made for the S9. I own the 35mm f/2, and I always fall in love with it.
I have the S5 and Mkiix as my project cameras and the S9 as a camcorder of sorts, I'm super stoked with the ease of use! I was just informed of the i-series, I will check those out, thank you!
@@MatthewDangyou It's great, especially if you want to shoot in cropped mode 24-35 is not a bad focal length. Also I've been subbed to your channel for about a year now, love your videos!
Thank you very much for this awesome Video. I am on the jump to get a blue S9 to have something small and pocketable along my S5II. Can you tell me what I loose with the Sigma 18-50 lens on Fullframe since its designed for APS-C? Talking especially about stills but also Video. Will the Images be with less Megapixels or cropped? Thanks a lot in advance🙂
First, I want to say thanks for showing that the S9 can do quite a bit for anyone. I shot a feature film with the GH5. So, to call the S9 a travel camera, as some have called it, is kind of silly. The S9 is more powerful than the GH5. I guarantee you I can shoot a feature film with the S9. By the way, I never used the headphone jack on the GH5. So, it's not an issue for actual filmmakers. Currently, I have the Sony FX30. Another great camera. I've been thinking about LUMIX again since I love the color science of LUMIX cameras as I discovered with the GH5. But, considering that I can probably get the S5ii for about the price of the S9, I would probably get the S5ii if I were to get another LUMIX camera.
No. But the S5ii/X is getting added to the Lumix Lab App usage soon ! S5ii/X - G9MK2 - S9 - GH7, to my knowledge...are going to be the base / newest cameras w/ access.
The S9 could have been a fantastic camera if it had an EVF, a flash shoe, and better controls, such as a joystick. Using an APSC lens kind of defeats the purpose of full-frame. Maybe Lumix can come out with more compact lenses for the S9. Bottom line: No matter how hard the UA-camrs try to push the S9, it feels incomplete.
I agree to certain degree with you. The lack of EVF even as a rangefinder style would have been nice. But all the other things, that’s not what this camera is about. The camera is specifically for content creators that want great features, but in a compact package. I believe that the 18-40mm will be a great addition once it launches. I wish it would’ve launched with the camera.
I dont need any of those things you mentioned. S9 is good as is. Not all cameras have to be for you. No one complains about several sonys not having an evf or joystick
You're essentially describing an S5II. Or an A7CII. Both are more expensive than the S9. The pricing and segmentation is difficult for Panasonic because the S5II is already so aggressively (or reasonably) priced. I looked and S5II is on sale for $1797 right now. And actually, S9 is at $1397 on sale. I've wanted Panasonic to have a direct A7CII competitor, but after considering everything above, I think it will be difficult to pull off when we look at how their products are positioned. S9 is "entry" and compact. Sony has the option of dropping down to their APS-C line for a cheaper, entry & compact option. Lumix needed an entry L-mount cam. For *me*, yeah I'd want everything you described. But someone starting out probably doesn't. I also realized that if I'm using a super compact EDC cam, do I really want to attach a flash, XLR unit, etc? Not really, and again my S5II covers all that. I think EVF & proper mic/headphone jack would be good enough additions to S9, and call it a day (again, difficult with their product positioning). If they wanted to go that route for next gen, Lumix would likely need to make the S9II the price of the S5II, and shift the S5III/x to A7IV prices or greater. Given the feature set, they'd probably be justified in doing it.
This is the best tutorial for the S9 I've seen, it helped me a lot: ua-cam.com/video/J6YUDq1vW7E/v-deo.html There's also a nice trick: Each dial physical dial scrolls a separate area of the menu, give it a try.
The OG box *must be* kept. Unspoken rule. Great vid, just caught you on Matthew Dangyou's pod
More vids on the s9 please. Subbed.
On it!

I had my doubts that the 10-18 would perform well on a full frame body. Do you have a video on that?
I use this set up on my real estate shoots, and it's been my favourite wide angle combo, I'd be interested in making a follow up video!
I noticed the Sigma lens you used was for APSC; did you have to use the S9 in crop mode or will that lens work fullframe?
It's automatically set to crop mode with the lens which is equivalent to 15mm
@@jeremybfilms so its locked in crop mode, you can't use the full sensor like on the Sony E mount version?
You lowkey stole my idea man - was thinking of getting this camera and the sigma 10-18 !
Awe man, just go for it and film some beautiful content with the 10-18!

I just wished it had an EVF. It would be the perfect camera.
True, an EVF I'm sure will come in another version!

The obligatory "kinda defeats the purpose of full frame" comment :D
On a serious note, I really wish they would release a compact m4/3 camera soon :)
When used on S9 in crop mode, how many mega pixels?
HEY,, CONGRATS.... How about batery life, i mean its better in s9 or s5ii? i wan to buy one of those,,, but for me.. batery's life is very imortant..
I've *heard* that the S9 has much improved battery life, because of less weight, no EVF, etc.
can you also tested s9 with sigma 16mm 1.4 in 4k60 fps ?
Would love to, if I had the 16 1.4
Can you create LUTs in LUMIX Lab and via an SD card use them on an S5mk2/x?

I dont even know why that lens exists for L mount. There is like one APSC L mount camera.
