    Appreciate this comp! So I have the Fuji X100VI. I just ordered the S9 with the 20 to 60 preowned. Also pre-ordered the 18 to 40 lens. I'm an adventure cyclist, and while a go pro is how I shoot most video I love adding a cinematic feel with a real camera. With the Fuji I find myself constantly wanting to be wider so I know the S9 will fill that. Also the IBIS on the S9 is like none other! I have a gimbal for the Fuji, but would rather do hand held. Looking forward to see the results!

      That is an excellent use case you have there for the S9. Wouldn’t be surprised if you add a 28-200mm super zoom at some point.

    Thank you for this comparison! A little remark: You show two compact lenses with the S9, but the pictures from the S9 in the comparison are made surely with a much bigger lens at minimum f2, because he depth of field is more narrow. It would be fair to show this lens too. So some users may think, they could produce this narrow depth of field bokeh as seen with tiny lenses.

    • @mdenjoyer831
      @mdenjoyer831 2 дні тому +1

      F4 on full frame has more bokeh than F2.8 on apsc, if you make the equivalence, full frame lenses are smaller and lighter
      on full frame 1.8 is the 1.2 of apsc

    • @Powerland56
      @Powerland56 2 дні тому

      @@mdenjoyer831 Yes, 1.8 FF is 1.2 APS-C. The X100VI has f2.0. So it is clear, that a FF lens with 2.0 will have a narrower depth of field. But f2.8 or exactly 3.0 will have an equivalent depth of field. You see in the video, that the depth of field of the Pana is clearly narrower. Why?
      One reason could be, that he used a FF lens much better than f3.0, for example 2.0 and the X100VI with f2.0 too. But he shows compact lenses, which cannot make such a narrow depth of field. Why?
      The other reason could be, he uses the darker compact Panasonic lens and set the Fuji down to f4 for example. But why?
      So my point in my post above is clear: He should mention, which lens and which aperture he has used.
      The X100VI at f2 has a more narrow depth of field than a S9 with the shown 18-40 4.5-6.3, which has about f5.6 or even worse at 35mm. But he shows a better depth of field for the Pana in the comparison. Never ever with the 18-40 or only, if he not uses the f2 of the X100Vi. In the real world, the X100VI has a better depth of field than the shown Pana combi.

    I'm sorry but I see few flaws with this comparison.
    1. Price: You can't really compare it. X100VI's price includes the whole camera while S9 is body-only. Adding a lens would increase the price.
    2. Size: Unless you use the 26/f8, any other lens is going to increase the size significantly, even if you use a comparable focal length.
    3. IBIS: X100VI allows IBIS for both photos and videos.
    4. You talk about full-frame's advantages but what about X100VI's advantages without adding any extra bulk: built-in 4-stop ND filter, leaf shutter, built-in flash, EVF/OVF.
    Both cameras are great and serve different purpose.

    • @walrusgumboot
      @walrusgumboot День тому +2

      1. The S9 18-40mm kit is within $200 in my country. Not much difference
      2. X100vi wins size for sure. But the combo with Sigma i primes are a pretty compact combo if you want a faster prime (vs 18-40 zoom)
      3. It’s not even close to S9
      4. He does talk about those. But there are plenty of other S9 benefits that he didn’t talk about too

      @@michaelc379 In Europe you can’t buy the X100VI (no stock) unless you pay scalpers price (about 2200 euro). The S9 with a lens is about 2000 euro. So price don’t give X100VI any advantage here.

  • @johnnyr-518

    The x100vi looks like it takes good photos but i'd hate to be stuck with a 35mm focal length i find it terrible. Give me something wider at 27-28mm or just something tighter 40-42mm.

    I keep thinking that the S9 with my 21mm Leica APO Summicron SL would be a much smaller and lighter travel carry than the SL3 for stills. Even on the 24MP SL2-S, the APO lenses produce images that render more like they were taken with a much higher resolution camera. With the q3 43 it would make a great combination. The lack of EVF and mechanical shutter are the things that concern me. Artifical lighting banding and rolling shutter could be an issue. I think if they added both of these things the S9 would be a no brainer companion camera.

    EVF/OVF and the built in ND filters on the X100 put it in a whole different league for me. Also if I'm looking at interchangeable lens cameras I'd take a Sony a7C over the Panasonic if I wanted a smaller body with full frame and interchangeable lenses or the A6700 for an APS-C

    I have the S9 which is literally my S5II in small without EVF. I decided against the Fuji XH2 and left my Fuji XT4 behind to go for the S5II and now for the S9 too. Why? Way better IBIS by far, better IQ and espcially recovering Shadows with the S5II and also S9. Before getting the S9 I was looking for a Fuji X100VI to get something small but than the S9 was announced and it was an easy decision. The IBIS, better IQ and the option to change lenses makes the S9 clear winner for me. But that doesnt mean the Fuji X100VI isnt good - its just not for me. But beeing honest I have to say I am missing something like Velvia on Lumix😂

    The young lady's face was slightly distorted on the X100 photo. A 23mm (35mm equivalent) lens is not great for medium shot portraiture. If you simply set the crop on the Fujifilm to 70 and take a few steps back you get a perfect portrait.

    This is really an apples-to-oranges comparison. Other than size, these two cameras have very little in common. Also the price comparison at the beginning is misleading as the S9 requires a lens, which increases its cost by 30 to 50 percent.

      So what? People are allowed to compare what they want. As an owner of 20 copies of the x100 series, I can say it’s a great camera but it’s also slow and buzzy. It needs improvement. The s9 might be interesting to some. Let people buy what they want

      @RPP403 23 години тому +1

      @@walrusgumboot Of course is reasonable to compare them as both are compact cameras though none is truly pocketable. I see many Fuji X100 fans around here feeling threatened with the S9 release, looking for every dumb, minuscule detail and rushing to claim "victory" in order to protect or defend their purchase decision. Idiotic comments like : "oh, you can´t compare these two" or "the Fuji is in another league". Haha, what are these guys, 12 years old?

      @@GrandHuevotes Exactly! They look like wolfs liking their wounds😂. At the end of the day, if the limitations of the X100VI (a fixed lens, more noise, less color depth and less dynamic range than a FF, worse auto-focus and stabilization) are not a problem, then be happy!. Now those who feel the need to come here claiming the X100 is the best camera, it is obvious they feel insecure and want to own a compact full-frame instead. Psychology textbook. You buy something, you realize it may not be what you want now, but you still feel the "urge" to defend you decision, no matter how absurd your claims are. Crazy human nature.

    Not very often, but (to me) a disapointing video... 😕 You really sounded like you had been missioned by Panasonic to justify their S9 over Fuji's X100 ! Example : how can you compare those two cameras' sizes, weights & prices without adding lenses !?? And to say the S9 is as compact is... more than questionable ! Given Panasonic's tremendous compact lens, it really doesn't compare. And I'll add "unfortunately" cause this S9 has plenty to please. But with no valuable pancake type lens or anything compact enough to be compared to Fuji's size, then I'm sorry, but the S9 really isn't in the same league
