Deepest lore
The Crest mic was actually surprisingly pretty good, and the sound quality coming out of the headphones themselves before they just kind of... died... seemed undistorted and generally OK as well. I know that wasn't a proper test, but for a $10 pair of headphones, I'm kind of impressed! Those seemed at least serviceable.

If anyones curious, that amp can put out 120 watts @100v. Usually, you would be running 10-20 ceiling speakers off of something like this. Headphones usually operate on LESS THAN A WATT. You could probably pop 100 headphones AT THE SAME TIME with this.

You're gonna need one of those little fans used by people who solder a lot. They're also pretty cheap. I'm sure James knows what it is lol

7:23 dankpod"s laugh had made me dying
What I think happened with the over-ears making those weird noises is the amplifier going into 'protect' mode. It may be possible to disable or remove the protection circuitry and then the true power of the amp will be unleashed.
Lol yeah I tried blowing up some speakers from an alarm clock with my denon av receiver (120w per channel) and it turned off and went into ‘protect mode’
On 5:48 the volume potentiometer may have died before the speakers on the headphones, that may be why they didn't blow up

you should get a second volume knob that's geared to the big one. Every crank of the second one should be like, 1/10th the rotation on the big one so you can really fine tune how much you dial it up by

It's all good fun until a cheap pair of buds literally explodes in Wade's hands
It's doubtful they'll literally explode. It's way more likely that a resister or thin wire or a controller chip will smoke out first. Literally exploding would require a capacitor or something, and there isn't really much reason to include those in cheap-o buds.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio Caps are required for the functionality of basically any electronics (decoupling and such), but anything large enough to explode (rather than just short) near the audio signal would screw with the sound and would also be kinda pointless.
@@nikkiofthevalley unless the earbud have a build it dac, most of them wont have one, especially the cheapos one
The only headphones/earphones with capacitors in them are ones with multiple drivers per side (crossover capacitor for the high frequency driver) or ones with a built in amplifier like bluetooth units. These cheap buds are all single driver per channel, wired directly in from plug to driver with nothin in between. No danger here :)

We also definitely need to see some more mid-range common headphones against this! Sennheiser HD2XX series? AT MXXx series maybe? Some Sony over-ears? Or, alternatively, some mid range buds like the Sony and JVC wired earphones and over-ears? We demand SACRIFICES for the MARACA CRACKER 9000

your laugh is ridiculously contagious. When you posted that video a few weeks ago saying you needed a break, I thought you were gone for good. I'm so glad you're back and putting me in stitches again every Thursday night here in the UK
The fact that the machine box thing literally killed the earphones or headphones that had the smoke leaving the chassis or framework of the earphones or headphones.
On a serious note depending on what that amp pushes out, I can’t tell if that unit is metal or plastic case, you might get a nasty shock if there’s any faults - also be warned, you may melt the cable of cheap headphones 😂
I believe it's hooked up to the chassis ground of the amp. Red wire went to the 100V line out, black to line common and shield seemed to be directly grounded with the PA. I think it's plenty safe in that case. Just dont poke something metal into the banana jacks😂

6:36 how the heck does the mic of a cheap gaming headset sound better than many other headsets that cost so much more?
Most of the expensive ones are not going for mic quality, there going for sound quality, things like razor krakens mainly go for audio then microphone, but headsets like HyperX try to go for both mic and audio quality for the right price, cheaper headphones go for mic quality cause it’s cheaper than audio quality, there are some cheap headsets that have both good mic and audio quality for a cheap price
