It is an accurate comment. Ghanaians cannot fool themselves. I was born in U.S. to Ghanaian Parents. I visit Ghana periodically in 3 year intervals. I am now in my mid 30s. There is no question that Ghana lacks a true middle class. if it is to transcend into the class of say a Malysia, Singapore, Brazil, etc... Ghana must focus on investing in its people, not simply Physical Structures as facades. If your population is educated and their are jobs in only helps the nation long term

i like how she explains her views. Very well spoken. Very well put about the Rich and poverty line and how there is no middle class. Way to rep for America, the people who struggle, and africans. Way to go Amber Rose.

the american middle class is shrinking as well, there are places in america where a stark contrast between poverty and wealth can be seen. Skid row in los angeles is only a fifteen minute drive from some of the most lavish mansions in this country.

okay, all I know is that her mom is from Cape Verde and her dad is from somewhere in Europe. so for some Africans they believe in the concept of being on the dads side and some mothers side. Yes so what her roots are in Africa and Europe cause that's where her parents come from, her children will have to say their roots are in the USA since she was born there, but one thing i know you can never take her cultures away from her.... Thats why she accepts of being from Cape Verde

I don't think she's disrespecting African's, what did she do to be disrespectful? posted pictures of the poor side of Africa? i'm amazed she went over there and surrounded herself with the less fortunate. And as an African myself i very much agree about the huge divide between rich and poor many African's would agree. she went over there to help, just appreciate that fact. what have you done?

We all know that Cape Verde is formally part of Africa. learn the history please . Before Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde was just one country until 1980 . The Cape Verde archipelago is located in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 570 kilometres (350 mi) off the coast of West Africa, near Senegal, The Gambia and Mauritania.

SHE DID what she HAD TO DO to help out her & her mother. & now look at her. A BEAUTIFUL model, with a BEAUTIFUL career. She made it. Kanye & Wiz just BOOSTED her fame. She was already a model before she met Kanye... She came from a messed up childhood & made it turn around. I respect her SO much for that. Grow up.

i think what kinda pisses Africans off is the fact that there's more to the place bt none of the positive aspects are ever appreciated instead all focus is on the violence and poverty...America for example has a very dark history of opressing black pple and still is in the forefront of modern conflicts today, bt we still acknowlegde its positive traits (music, hollywood, its contributions to science and watever else) so it sucks that after visiting all she talks about is the bad stuff

I'm not a fan of hers actually, but im not a hater. I Admire that she is trying to make something of herself. I'd admire that in any person. We always tell people they can change, they can make something of themselves, you can be a better person Then when they do or try to move on from bad parts in thier lives we criticise them, belittle them, and tell them they aren't shit. I actually like the Kardashians, Khloe and Kourtney are college educated and owned the shop prior to the show.

I'm African, and in Africa for the last week, and I come many times during the year. You misunderstood my comment, I did say it's great that she is trying to help, but it's not right to say all rich people in Africa don't help the poor. I don't seek publicity for myself, and yes I do help my Africa, and I don't feel like I need to advertise the help I give to people.

I watched this woman speak for the first time on her Wendy Williams clip. She kept it cool, said very little - & it came across as saying a lot. In her own way she got her point across and was impressive. Now I see this clip and she's saying so much, yet she comes across as saying very little. If she continues her work in Africa, she seriously needs to sit down, read some books, watch some news & school herself for what she wants to pursue there. I wish her the best.

I know this video is old and everything but it just irks me when people take one country on the continent and make it seem like it is representative of the whole continent. She went to Ghana she did not go to all of Africa. She went to one country. And the other thing that's confusing, is that her mother is Cape Verdean. Cape Verde is an African island nation. So how come she don't know anything at all about any part of Africa when that's where her mother is from.

    • @julianalopes6490

Am Cape Verdean and it's completely deferent from the other african countries (mainland)..Cape Verde is not dry with dirt road, not that there aren't any, but only drought season, which is 1/3 of the year so not be talking bull! Cape Verde has a lower class (like there is almost everywhere in the world), a middle class (which there isn't much in Africa) and we have a higher class which mostly is the government people, maybe u should do more research on our beautiful country.

Still inaccurate. This is not to say we are close, but we are certainly on our way.

However, people will form an opinion based on her known background regardless of what is said. It comes with the territory of FAME. People will have negative things to say about others no matter what they do. It is up to the person being discussed to DISPLAY something different. She lacks an understanding of global politics and the international system, but at least she is pondering the basic questions of inequality which shows she cares. Americans r sheltered n do not receive global perspective in school so its not anyones fault if they're not "socailly conscious". It doesnt make her dumb. Americans r just not exposed to cartain realities as other places are. She has to start somewhere.

She was a stripper but not anymore. Leave it alone alredy! It seems like ppl are judging her only on what she did and not what she is trying to do. She could use her celebrity to do anything but she is going to Africa and trying to help young girls choose a different path than the one she had to go down. She led a hard life but that is no reason to hate her. I personally think stripping is skanky and dirty but she's not that anymore. She turned her life around and is trying to help others.

This young lady is beautiful, but not very intelligent. I traveled to Ghana, it is no different from say New York or chicago, of course there are cultural differences, how ever there was obviously upper, middle, and lower class life stlyes. Some drove compact cars, some luxury, some exotic cars.... for instance, I drove some ones Nissan Murano.. I went to small cafes and 5 star restaurants, I went to the mall, and the beach, there were car dealerships everywhere. The homes were apartment style, but mostly large beautiful homes that would be considered upper class homes in USA, however, we're middle class or average.....There were dirt roads, and there were highways. Ice cream shops and sports bars with flat screen tvs every where in bars, banks, hotels, cable all that. It was amazing in Ghana, I can't speak for all Africa since I only went to Ghana. The average middle class there live better than upper middle class American..... Most sensibles homes are 5 bedrooms and more with 6 bathrooms in Kumasi, slightly different in the city like Accra.

It was a very nice place to visit.

Young people will take lessons about self esteem and self worth from those around them influences.

    • @shookone568
      @shookone568 8 років тому

No I'm not shocked because it's essentially true. If you made a list of rich Africans who help poor Africans vs rich Africans who don't help poor Africans the latter would most likely be longer, in my opinion. This is true for all rich people, African or not. Rich people are rich people. They do what they want and they always get richer. One could argue that the American rich people must help the American poor people before they tell us what to do. but that is for another discussion, another video. Besides, that won't change the fact that the rich people in Africa can COLLECTIVELY do more than their are doing. I'm sure you do what you can for the poor but who is to say that what you do is all that you can do? who makes that call?? YOU do. The owner of the wealth decides. Unless we are willing to allow others to decide how we use our money, we mustn't speak on how others must use theirs, don't you think? Sure, you are right in posing all those questions. You are right about Africa being ravished. i just don't appreciate this sense of entitlement that comes from our victim mentality. I also don't like that when it suits us, we do the whole "its not that bad in Africa" thing but when an Amber Rose says that, we are like "Africa's poverty is complex blah blah blah". She is absolutely right. We must stop building mansions and castles while there are children naked and hungry in the dirt nearby, doing all we can to clutch onto power for decades on end. We must stop it.

+Maria If anyone says 'Rich people in Africa are not helping Africans'. That person truly understands how wealthy they are. You might think it's not true, that's because Africa is depicted as poor meanwhile it's a place booming with resources. Dangote calls Nigeria an economic secret. So, no rich people in Africa do anything for the poor? That is stereotyping and generalising at best, so all their rich are corrupt like the media portrays in the West! When you say Africa and generalise it's really misguiding, as it's such a huge continent with varied cultures, and races! When you address Africa you need to be specific! Amber needs to learn so much more about her heritage, it is nice that she is trying to help, but do it for the good reasons! And don't disrespect Africans...

Typo or not I am not incorrect. It is not her culture just because its part of her DNA. It's her ethnicity. Get it through your head. A culture is chose by the individual by the choices they make in who or what they surround themselves by. Not because a double helix in your blood stream proves your father is half African. You're Welcome.
