That CBS interview...Dokoupil had the nerve to tell him he's still invited to some holiday get-together lol, that was just the icing on the cake. That interview was insulting beyond the norm that i would expect from corporate media. Coates response was great and congrats to him for not flying off the handle on them and keeping his cool. Coates comment at the very end of the interview reflect exactly how I feel about the issue. Great interview.

Yeah people seem to forget that. Jewish does not equate zionism, and vice versa. We need to stand with our Jewish allies. We need to protect them-because they are the most actively silenced. They have to push harder and risk more to be allied…. ie: the “self hating jew” trope.

What a treasure he is for America. As a black American I can tell you I hope this somehow points my fellow Americans to his work towards reparations so we can finally take that seriously. • @jaed2630

Coates is a fool, and if you think that you DESRVE repreations and somehow YOUR people are going to "rise up", as if there aren't black success stories. Then there's no hope for you. Number 2. Are you going to demand reparations from black and arab people whose ancestors were slave owners, too? Did you know there are over a 1000 black slave owners in this country? Dod you skip over that WHOLE part of history on purpose? You can't be taken seriously.

About 10 years ago one of my friends, black American, visited Israel with his flight attendant wife. He sometimes accompanied her on a lot of trips because as her husband, he was able to fly for free. For the record his wife was white with blonde hair and blue eyes. When he got back from Israel he was visibly shaken and vowed NEVER AGAIN to set foot in that country. He told me that on several occasions he'd be walking down the street with his wife at his side when he'd be approached by soldiers or security personnel demanding to see his "papers" or demanding to know where he was coming from and where he was going. His wife, on the other hand, was NEVER stopped and NEVER questioned! It got so bad that for his last few days in Israel he just stayed in his hotel rather than expose himself to being interrogated every 15 minutes. To be honest, at the time I thought he was just exaggerating, for why would Israel, a Western democracy, openly discriminate against people of color? After hearing Ta-Nehisi Coates speak about his own experiences in Israel, I now know that my friend was actually telling the truth. Another interesting thing he mentioned was being very surprised that half the Jewish people he met and saw in Israel were actually British or American nationals (he could tell because of their accents). It made him sick to his stomach to think that these people actually left the UK/US and voluntarily relocated to a country that actively subjugated its non-Jewish population to apartheid. What kind of person feels good about traveling halfway round the world to participate in apartheid?

That is such an important point he makes about their line of questioning about long lost relatives.
When we visited Tel Aviv years back, my wife was stopped for "questioning" at the international airport. Mind you, we are American citizens arriving from NYC area, we pay for all their stuff, and we flew over with her company, a MAJOR US Airline carrier. All of the employees (and me, the husband) walked off the plane in Tel Aviv together. The other pilots walked right past security, the flight attendants walked past, and they even told me to walk right past! But they stopped her, asking her father's full name. After she gave that, they asked for her grandfather's full name. After she told them her grandfather was dead before she was born and that she didn't know it, they took her aside to a waiting room area.
They told me to keep going and to enjoy my trip! Are you effing serious, dude? My wife is basically in holding so I declined and said I would be staying wherever she's staying. I walk over to the "waiting area" of security wayyy over to the side of immigration in a separate room, and what do I see? SIX different Muslim groups - three of which were Americans. I started asking questions of two gentlemen who traveled together and their reply was startling for a first timer: "yep, this is normal. They stop me every time. I wait here for 1-2 hours, they ask stupid questions, and then they let me pass. The same thing will happen once I come back to head home to the US."
WTF? This is the "only" democracy in the Middle East? If so, I think it's more appropriate to say there are ZERO democracies in the Middle East. If you are asking strangers of the country that financially supports your lifestyle their grandfather's name and religion, then you are - quite simply - being racist, bigoted, and employing all the signs of an apartheid state.

It’s a tactic to re-write the timeline. If you look past the smoke and behind the mirrors, the zionist movement is using jewish lives as human shields to promote it’s agenda. Decades of brainwashing to promote a political movement that was started in europe by an atheist… and with USA collusion. Propoganda even for us in the usa.
I’m not convinced that the Holocaust wasn’t enacted as a means to this same end-it’s the same tactics the military uses: stripping people of their identities and then retraining them to be war machines. It seems like usa is the father, germany is the mother, and israel is the child…. All of the same war machine agenda, and to have oower in the middle east, which we are effectively in the same war that we were in closer to 2000.

And coming from this side, Kamala is by all standards “proximate.” She is palatable to the whote brotherhood because then they can say they aren’t racist or sexist because they “voted for a Black Woman.” And it’s a way to gain more support for The System by POC.

If you want to know how one-sided the conversation of Israel/Palestine is in Western mainstream media, simply count. Count how many Jewish anchors, correspondents, or journalists (with either immediate family or first-hand experiences in Israel) get prime time slots to speak on this issue vs how many Palestinians or even Arabs do.
Then count how many Jewish and/or Israel guests get interviewed or allowed to speak vs how many Palestinians or Arabs. It’s dozens and dozen and dozens vs possibly two, maybe three. The media isn’t even trying to accommodate voices from the other side, they are actively ignoring, silencing, and outright censoring those voices.
On CNN alone. Five days of every week. In the eight hours between 9am and 5pm. FOUR of those hours every single day, a full half, is hosted by pro-Israel Jewish hosts (Dana Bash, Jake Tapper, and Wolf Blitzer) and laser focused on solely the Jewish perspective and the expense of not just Palestinian or Arab voices, but virtually any voices critical of Israel, be they black, white, brown, Christian, Muslim, or even Jewish!
Coates absolutely nails this and skewers these stooges when he says that there is “…no shortage of the Israeli/Jewish perspective in our media…”
