- Meghan Markle’s family on her mother’s side shared their history with Inside Edition. They’re known as the Raglands of Georgia. Meghan’s ancestor Steve Ragland was born into slavery in 1848. Meghan’s extended family only learned of their connection to the now-Duchess of Sussex right before Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry. They watched the ceremony with pride, and home some day to welcome Meghan and her prince to Georgia. #InsideEdition

The reason why they weren't invited is because they themselves, did not know the connection until shortly before the wedding. As one poster rightly pointed out, there was no ancestry.com back in those days. Also it has been revealed that there were two members of Meghan's family there, who were sitting in the general part of the congregation: Doria's half brother and step mother - her father's second wife and son. Also, I think is believed that Ashleigh Hale, who is one of the disgraceful Samantha Markles' estranged children was there. She is a lawyer and close to Meghan.
I suspect this was kept quiet due to the low life Markles.

My father died in 1971. My mother singlehandedly raised me. My father died when I was 8 years old. The only family I have now is my husband of 26 years.

I'm amazed by this. It was really nice to see Dorias relatives. They look like a nice people. Why oh why did Meghan only invite her mother to the royal wedding? Apart from being a proud and true celebration of her own Black history it would have been nice for Doria to have some support and company. The occasion and world wide television coverage would have daunted most people, seeing Doria sat all alone was kind of sad. Once again Meghan seems to like to do everything on her own controling terms. She's always talking about being a woman of colour, and has at times, hinted that there is a racial element behind her negative media coverage. Deciding to have just one relative at your wedding, in cast of hundreds of clebreties, is quite a statement. Surely one of those uncles or male cousins could have walked her down the aisle. She has ghosted all her friends, teachers from school, old friends from LA, the whole Markle family even the uncle who secured her Argentina internship, and finally it looks like shes ghosted all her mothers family aswell.

I think you may have to go back and check your facts. It was Doria that was absent in Meghan's life for many years ( about 10 years), and Doria also has a felony record for fraud (check fraud). IMO, Doria may know a lot of Meghan's dirty secrets that Doria might come across demanding hush money. Meghan's father, Thomas, is the one that paid for her private schools and her college, paid for her car, among other things. Yeah, you may need to brush up on your facts before you post things.

It's comical to think that MM says she has 43% Nigerian DNA, because for the fact that her 4th Greats were from America, which means without any RECENT Nigerian Ancestry to give Doria at least 43% Nigerian DNA, there is NO WAY IN HELL that MM has 43%.

@@lilij1915 yes, if the slave trade had happened within MM's Great, Great grandparents time, and both her mother & father would have had to have had black dna, for it to happen in just 2 generations. Even then, if both her parents were black, it would be highly unlikely for her DNA to come back with 43% of only Nigerian descent, instead of multi African ancestry.

Meghan really does not know many of her mothers side of the family from Doria's father.. Doria was an only child until she was in her 30s when her mother died and her father remarried. Doria half brother is younger than Meghan. From her past interviews, she was close to her grandmother on her mothers side. I do not think she was close to the Ragland either.
