- A girl is tormented by a looming, mysterious hand figure, and makes an incredibly difficult decision to escape her false reality.
I am excited to share my short film application to Chapman University. It is a culmination of my own work as well as the incredibly talented actors and actresses in the film.

Prompt: Without the use of dialogue or voice over, create a film that is under two (2) minutes in length and is about a character making a difficult and dramatic decision. Show that the character is pulled in two different directions at an emotional level, visualize their process of consideration, and show that they make a decision.

Hello, I have watched many of these applications now and yours really stood out. I liked how your acting wasn't over the top, and the ideas were original and unique, unlike many other short films. My dad is a screenwriter so I have been bought up around films so I like to think I have become good at recognising talent and I thought you showed it. Enjoy film school.

Well done, screenwriting was great and I particularly loved the first two or three shots-they were lingering and perfect. Your story was planned out well and I’m sure you’ll get better as you learn more in film. This was also better than most other applications, you avoided a lot of rookie mistakes, all the very best‼️💯

That was absolutely lovely. I might consider recasting the guy as he doesn't seem "abusive." Not that there's a certain look, but there's definitely a certain behavior.
Thank you for your support! I completely hear what you're saying. While there is a stereotype for abusers, I'm sure they can come in all shapes or sizes.

Thank you so much this is so sweet! I really appreciate it! Definitely just start shooting and writing with your friends and with yourself just to get some practice. Any experience is beneficial! As long as you keep pursuing it and keep creating, you'll learn a lot after every project!

I was expecting a horror film and I got one didn't I. It seems I spent most of my life helping women realize that it's time to leave, before it's too late.
I met a young woman from Hazard, Ky whose husband kicked a butcher knife all the way through her hand.
Why ? Because he had spent his check & beat her until he got hold of her check and spent that on drugs & booze too. All they had left in the house was pinto beans and potatoes & he was "FN SICK AND TIRED OF EATING GD BEANS AND POTATOES !!"
Another older woman beat half to deaf by her husband because she wouldn't hand over her purse, which contained the only pictures she had left of her family and children that he hadn't burned or destroyed. He broke her glasses and kept her false teeth when the sheriff's dept came and the ambulance took her to the hospital. We've known a few over the years who didn't make it out in time. Or he found a way back in the house to finish what they started. Myself? After my last serious relationship I spent 2 years running from an ex who was found with 5 different weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition; who had measured off the 1000 yards distance he was court ordered to stay away. The most freaked out I got was past the 2 year mark. I lived in the Garrote apartment of a house with a double door keyed entry. It was midnight & my phone was ringing when I was trying to unlock the first door after getting off work.
After running up the stairs to answer the still ringing phone..
" I love that little hidey hole under the roof in your kitchen, you know the one beside that little white china cabinet.."

Hello there! I’m an aspiring film director and am in the process of trying to transfer to Chapman university myself. I have no experience with film directing and was wondering if I could have some help on where to start? Great film btw!
Hey!! Thanks for reaching out! Best of luck with transferring to Chapman, I’m sure you’d love it here or wherever your love for film takes you. The best way to start is to just start shooting. Literally anything! As long as you have a camera/phone, you can shoot. Practice techniques you can see in other films and see if you can find a style you enjoy shooting! If you have anyone around you that enjoys being in front of the camera, use that as a resource! Honestly just start shooting anything that you enjoy. Best of luck!
