Are you planning a trip to Acadia National Park? We spent 48 Fantastic Hours and found 13 places that you may want to put on your Acadia National Park travel itinerary. Our list includes places to eat, hike, and shop. We’re dedicated to having a good time, so we vetted each option online before adding it to the list. The 48-hours we spent exploring Acadia National Park and the surrounding area (Bar Harbor and Ellsworth) were full of delicious fun. My prior planning paid off, so I’m excited to share the list with you!
A quick note before the list begins. We went on our Acadia National Park trip one week before Memorial Day Weekend. As with many locations in Maine, it’s a time when some places are opening up for the season and others haven’t quite yet. Going early saved us about $80 per night on our hotel room*. Park reservations also weren’t required yet, so we didn’t have to worry about where we could, or couldn’t drive with the park. The only bummer about our timing was not being able to lunch at Jordan Pond House. I would’ve loved to give their popovers and tea a try.
We had a fantastic time in and around Acadia National Park and thumbupabump recommend a trip there!

Arcadia is one of my favorite places
So many great highlights! WOW!!!
I didn’t think Sylvia’s look like anything special but the Iron Maiden music may have sold me to try. 😂
I think that was the first time ever that I heard Iron Maiden playing on the radio in a restaurant! They got big bonus points for that. :D
What a fun couple! And GREAT video. Going in 3 weeks and will take your recommendations. Thanks!
Great Video!! You Guys are so cute together !! We are going to Maine soon!! Thanks for showing me around!! Blessed Travels
I agree there is nothing better than a well planned trip
We are going in 2 weeks and your vid helped us plan, thank you! I am in love with you both. You are so fun-loving and have set the mood for our fun vaca in that part of our beautiful world. We can't wait to have what you had! Many thanks.
We are so delighted to hear this! We hope you enjoy the adventures as much as we did! Thank you for the kind words.
This was great! So glad I found your channel!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
After watching your hiking section of this video for getting to Cadillac Mountain, we think we will be driving up at sunrise - heard that is a great thing to do.
always luv the chipmunk chewing, gets me evrytime!
We've found that by harnessing our inner chipmunk, we save a ton of time! :D
wow so good tips
Great video, good info!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video we are going may 14-18th 2024 thanks for all the reviews 👍👍
You guys are very cute! And useful info too!
Thanks so much! 😊
The land bridge... I wish I were there too! (Even though the Stephen King comparison sounded eerily spooky.) ;)
Love the Poutine t-shirt!
"Acadian" is the name for the kind of French they speak in New Brunswick, and points east, including parts of Maine. It is quite different from the French they speak in Quebec! When the French were kicked out, they went to Louisiana, and "Acadian" became "Cajun."
Interesting stuff.
Yup, Maine was originally part of New France, named after one of the old Northern Provinces of France... in fact, part of my Great Great Grandfather's former farm in Bellechasse Quebeq, is now in Maine (Thanks to the moving of the border after the Russ-Baggot treaty, when once again, Britain threw Canada under the bus)
Loved this video. Thank you. We plan on visiting this August. Maybe we will be able to see some whales.
Thank you! We'll cross our fingers for you. :D
If you get a chance. Sebago Lake is a very nice area. I know it is possible that you might on to the next city once you receive this comment. Enjoying your channel and your travels.
We missed seeing that area. :( This world is simply too big!
Love the Grouse ball cap! Did you do the Grouse Grind when you were in North Van?
We did it when we lived in Yaletown in 2020/21. It was tough but fun.
@@chrisplusmelissa When I was much younger and in a lot better shape I once did it in 42mins.
@@lovey1973 It's so hard to be in better shape and it's really hard to be younger.
What time of year do you recommend going to coastal Maine?
We were in Maine in May and it was a pretty good time we felt to be there. Nothing was overly busy. But it was still a bit cold. We've never been in Maine any other time of year, so it's hard to feel like we're experts. :)
Will be here July 7th & 8th. Important question, Fogtown Brewery, what is the name of the sparkling Apple wine and the pizza with corn. My wife is interested in both, lol, and she isn’t easy to please, ha ha. Thanks for a great video! R, Cecil
Melissa's blog post has all the detailed info I do believe: chrisplusmelissa.com/48-hours-of-fun-in-and-around-acadia-national-park-planned/
When exactly did y’all go?
We went in May of 2022.
Idyllic spot you landed in. Easy lifestyle and good food. I think that area is subject to a lot of snow come winter.
We've enjoyed it much!
Did they ask to see your park pass in order to let you onto Bar Island?
No. There also didn't appear to be any official post for checking that kind of stuff. My guess is that sometimes, there's probably a ranger out and about and they may just ask you for your pass.
As far as I know, no one ever checks it. Update: your park pass is for your car only. You don’t need it when you’re hiking, and you can access the park without a car.
Chris, You're a great guy to carry the backpak, but you should plan to bring a second back pack for Melissa to use for her clothes next time. You were really huffin and puffin on that hike!
What I need to do is get in shape!! :D
I wouldn't say the North Ridge Trail is an "easy" hike.
Agreed! :)
Yeah....a little bit of thunder with some girly screams!
Why in the world would you eat pizza while in Bar Harbor?
We were staying in Ellsworth and had heard about Fogtown Brewery's pizza. The video explains it all. :)
