In my family they do. I am a father of three (9, 14, 16, all girls btw), I have a small miniature arts workshop, so my kids grew up around real stuff, mostly wood and acrylics. My 9yo loves coloring books but also free hand drawing. I will also never let s**t like Kindle in. Lots of books everywhere.
I am old school, old world and I take pride in it. Keep the flame burning. But it is only when it comes to arts and books. As for all other aspects of life - we are modernized to the max.

My grandmother gave me a piece of thread and told me to go to the sewing store and get a spindle of thread. It was white. I went and got the white thread. Apparently I got polar white and it needed to be off white. I still can't see the difference but whatever, I sure heard it up until she passed away.
