Some good tunes and riffs on the later albums but, let's be fair, they'll probably never top The Fall Of Ideals. That album introduced me to ATR!
David Wellens very much agreed but This Darkened Heart was their second and one of my favorites.
I kinda grew out of metal/hardcore but when it comes to that genre of music on my playlist, The Fall of Ideals is all that remains haha. Wasn't even aware that he passed though. RIP.
All 9 of them could have been from Fall of Ideals and I wouldn't complain.
Makes me realize that Fall of Ideals is one of the best metal albums of my lifetime from a guitarist's perspective. RIP Oli.

I was lucky enough to get a 1 on 1 guitar lesson over Skype with him. He immediately noticed my pinky flailing and gave me tips on how to curb it. I had no idea on how much that makes a difference. He helped me out a lot with that.
Favorite solo has to be Chiron and how he ties it back in to the intro. Also.,.. my indictment is great.
You should definitely do an All Killer No Filler on The Fall of Ideals.

The Fall Of Ideals is my favorite album of theirs. There isn’t a bad song on that album. I’ll never forget the first time I heard that beginning scream of “This Calling”.
You're damn right it's all Fall of Ideals. Incredible album. It was one of the reasons I became a metalcore kid in high school and seeing Oli play those solos live for that tour are the reason I became a guitarist.

Oil was a complete badass and a legend who through the beauty of what he did and his music, will never die, will never be forgotten and will live on forever, in my opinion, he was at least top 3 metal guitarists of all time, was comparable to something like the Beethoven of metal. Thanks for the video Mr. Slays, as usual, you murdered his riffs.. good luck with his solos though.😉

First concert i went to, was originally going to be enter shikari but found out all that remains were playing near us before so bought tickets, so at the age of 14 at my first gig never thought id meet the band members but since it was a small venue we spotted phil before the show and spoke about halo as he loved to play it on the tour bus then during the gig be able to scream down the mic with phil during the weak willed was amazing and to top it off at the end before we left we managed to talk to the late great Oli Herbert about riffs and the what he started then ending the conversation with guitar hero and picture with him....i will always remember that concert not just as my first concert but as an insight of the music i loved and wanted to be able to play.
17 years old, right after FoI dropped, saw them live and the whole band signed my ticket stub. Just stuck around the lobby to talk to fans. Haven't really enjoyed the past several albums, but I've always touted Oli as one of the best soloists in metal and will always recommend FoI and TDH to anyone. TDH is probably my favorite record.

Damn, I really admire your downpicking endurance. Reminds me a little of KillrBuckeye if you're familiar with that channel. I find that "Six" riff to be quite tough with downpicking only (although it has its difficulties when using alternate picking as well), my arm hurts just watching you do this. Great effort! Anyways, there a weird change at 2:06, seems like a volume drop or something. Any ideas what happened there?

Listened to it on my JBL monitors, phone, TV and headphones (to see if it occurs only on my monitors or if it was replicable on other hardware). Only have it when listening on my monitors and headphones though. Might be a personal thing then I guess. Unfortunately I lack the knowledge to describe more precisely what is weird to me. For now, I could continue guessing.

I saw Slayer shortly before Jeff Hanneman past, saw Painters at Ozzfest 98, John and Rob Zombie rock is dead tour 97, Mayhem fest, I got to see Mushroomhead 2x front row for one of them, and King Diamond off of Conspiracy tour 88 or 89? Metallica with Slaughter off of Justice tour.....

I met him in 2013. I forgot what band I went to go see but ATR were playing the next night and I saw him by the bar and I was so nervous but I built up the courage to go up to him and he was super nice. He was one my favorites, he will be missed. RIP Oli.

I met Oli at OzzFest 06, he actually made it a point to shake my hand because I was wearing an ATR shirt. This wasn't at their merch booth or anything, I was just walking around the festival. I was 16 and pretty caught off guard by it, so I didn't really say much you him, but it was still a really cool moment for me.... Also there's a bunch of dope riffs from TDH that could have been on there.
Seen them with trivium just as fall of ideals was released .still one of the best gigs I've been two.😀
