Thanks, Nate. Straightforward and quick. Worked great for my bedroom interior door. But I have an exterior door and for obvious safety reasons, the hinge pin cannot be removed - right? So how about exterior squeaky door hinges?

I'm lazy. I just blast with aerosol gun oil CLP and move the door around a bit. Stays quiet and smooth for 3 years+
Excellent. I would, however, have used WD-40 and not pushed the pin out. The viscosity is so much higher that spraying a little on (keep the rag handy!) and just cycle the door a couple of times and problem solved. Your approach clearly works and I hope that the oil doesn't attract too much dust for you. Good demo!
I appreciate you taking the time to share. I did a quick google search on "3 in 1 vs wd40" In response to the question asking if they are the same the top comment read "...3 in 1 oil is actually a very light weight oil whereas WD-40 is a lube, solvent, penetration and moisture displacing substance or compound….. As a lube, or oil, it does not last very long like 3 in 1 oil does…. it eventually evaporates, completely….takes a little while, but is does go away, leaving nothing that I can see or feel. Completely gone…. Takes time, but try it. You’ll find the same results…."
With this added insight I still feel that oil is better than WD40. I will keep an eye and hear on my hinge.
@@natelarge WD40 is not a single compound but a mixture. It has volatile hydrocarbons which help it creep into the little gaps, that's about 70%-ish of the liquid that works largely as a thinner, and the rest is a fairly thick oil. The thinner will evaporate in several stages, but a part of the oil fraction will remain - it's not a quality lubricant but then door hinges are not a precision mechanism and just a layer of sticky gunk should be OK to keep them from squeaking.
