I know the video is a little outdated, and fishing had an update, but there's some information I was given from some pro in-game fishers(and dataminers) that sort of confirms and contradicts the thing about keeping the reeling lever above the fish's health bar. What's actually going on is that every time to tap the button to pull left or right it triggers a random roll for whether the fish switches the direction it is swimming. So, tapping a direction rapidly (either direction, regardless of the direction the fish is going or how close you are to the fish health bar height) is a method to trigger a lot of these rolls/checks. Technically keeping it above that bar is greatly increasing your number of taps as well, so it works, but it's just the tapping, not the bars.
Thanks to this I won't worry about not having a Kraken rod, though it would be nice instead of my bamboo rod at lvl 13 fishing, cause that's a LOT jade to make a purple rod, and you're STILL the best T&L channel out there.
Yea, I was kind of surprised about the grind for a better rod for it not to do anything other than make it easier for you to catch the same fish. I'm guessing in future updates they will make it so some rare type fish can't be caught until a certain level. Even then though, you don't need to upgrade your rod...so idk what they plan to do. 🤔
heyo, level 17 fisherman here, from what me and my guildees can tell there's only one fish in the game that's locked behind level and it's the starfish that you can catch while fishing on saurodoma island and it's available to catch from lvl 12 and up.
honestly i havnt been able to catch it untill i was atleast level 16 it always had the 2 red arrows before that, and at that point i feel like its rng, if it wants to it can pull to one side and you can win.
I caught one at lv10 (lv7 + 3 lv from plat rod). I'm sure I failed plenty of catches for it, since I didn't successfully catch another untile lv16. Between lv16-lv17 I successfully caught 6.
I think there is supposed to be some stuff to do about fishing with the Halloween event coming up - would be cool if there is enough information to make a guide about what that's about? Either way this guide was nice it confirmed several of my suspicions about the fishing mechanics.
Yea, I just wanted to be sure before popping something out. Once I tested and tested, I didn't notice really and significant changes, especially with another rod. I may do some Halloween event type guides, but I'll also have to wait and see what it's like! I'm really looking forward to this event!!!!
@exemployee4166 game is dead. I moved on. Was just posting it because it's easy to acquire ingredients and decent exp for early on. But you're an internet guy, so it's never good enough for you.
@poppinoftenwithlofton6036 don't get me wrong, I love what was good with the game, great action and deep mechanics. But after playing for nearly 500 hours (PS5 on cross play server) there's a huge wall that just stops the fun. And people will pay anything to get that fun to continue. This is where I know the game is manipulative. And to me, it's dead.
@CarELwinSLOW I feel it's like all mmos. You have normal players and best in slot players. Normal players play until there is no more content, then wait for the next batch. Best in slot players try to have top stats, I don't there there is any manipulation, that's just how MMOs work.
I know there are a ton of fish and meals not in game yet. I also know you have to go to some places for certain fish *COUGH COUGH* *STAR FISH * Also not the same as the video. But farming scorpions at night IN THE RAIN Sucks. The fruts over rides the tails on drops or lowers it to sad levels.
That spot I was in dropped them pretty frequently. I also had a handful in other spots. The spot in the video was the most near Cienta village, prob spelled that super wrong. It's at the top right of the map. Spot near the new island also has some popping up pretty frequently. (based on my exp)

could make a guide for what to fish, that would accommodate cooking, such as which to fish first and how many of a certain fish you need to cook a dish for the sake of leveling. don't forget...MORE SQUIGGLY LINES!
OMG this is a FIRE topic - will look at it soon as I upload my latest TnL video ! THANKS FOR THE TOPIC !!! at 1:14 the fish was glowing red - how do we stop that when it happens ?
Hello :D i love fishing in video games, do you think i can install the game and get into fishing as soon as i get into the first town? Also, what can i do with the fished i catch? thanks!
Hey! Yes, they give you a free rod at the start it'll be in your inventory. Not sure if it's something that will keep you occupied the WHOLE time, but it's worth a shot. You can dissolve fish to make better bait, but the main thing you do with them is cook! Hope that helps. If you happen to like the game and want to stick with it for a bit, feel free to join my guild. We're not huge, but we'll help you out in the meantime. Just a friendly invite, don't feel forced to join the server or the guild! Good luck! Server: Benediction Guild: Club Poppin

I do wish fishing was more involved. Bait type matters yea but there could be so much more. This game has that in so many areas, its ok but could be so much more and so much better. Maybe with some time it will become that. :)
from when halloween starts drop chanses decrased... and i have an amitoi with 1.5 drop chanse....i did dungeon contracts more than 40 and i got ONLY blue items
Just curious, (haven't tested it) are you fishing in event zones? I want to assume that's where they would do the event fish, not all over the world. (least I feel that'd make more sense) Let me know!
I find it so difficult to fish, more than 50% of the times the fish gets away. I've watched tons of videos, and follow what it sais on the box but no joy. Fish (green light) goes left i pull right and other way around and never go below the life of the fish, yet somehow it still gets away.

Good sir, your voice is so enjoyable to listen to. Looking forward to more tips. Made my fishing life easier. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words, it's really appreciated. I'll keep doing my best! 🙂
Nice! I picked up a couple good tips. Another tip: hit Q the moment the fish bites and about 15-20% of its stamina will immediately drop off.
L1 for PS controller and LB for Xbox! 🙌
Just take your skill off and spam it, works every time for me
